i saw the awards last night .... my god! why was ashutososh creating such a hulla .... i agree sajid does go over the top sometimes but last night in comparison he was pretty mild in his jokes and specifically there was no such offensive joke on ashutosh himself ... then why was he jumping all over the place ?
the only joke that they cracked on ashu was that he came to collect everyone's awars - hardly erogatory or insulting ....
if anything the kunal kohli and rani mukherjee "maalkin" gag could have been insulting .... but nothing offensive to ashu personally....
why all the drama .... uselessly... ??????

Gosh i was going to make this post to.
Sajid was right in that no one would watch these shows if they were boring i know i personally would not.because i do not even know half of the people so why would i care?? and i am not into the performances its the hosts that make the show . That was actually a good show..i am saying this as a srk fan this was way better than the filmfare, mean they did not insult anyone only films and characters apart from that bit you mentioned but everyone was laughing. Even at the start they said take it with a pinch of salt. People really need to lighten up if they found that show offensive...
Ashu started a rant for no reason mean he was like no-one was allowed to speak it was more the people themselves that were not speaking and no-one does speak for the technical awards. Mean what was the point of taking this up on the stage take it up with star who script the show and others who are responsible.
These shows should stop being telecast and whole system needs to change otherwise...i mean not just me i am sure theres alot of people normal audience who do not know half of the people only watch it for the bigger stars. If all we saw was awards being given out and every person making a long speech who would watch it on telly. This is the reason why english awards never appeal to me. Even zee cines last two years i found boring because they were really toned down 🥱.
Ashu was not wrong in a way maybe way he did was but i want these shows to still have a humour etc though ....

I'd have to side with Ashutosh on this one. Why does it matter whether the jokes were about him or others? He was bothered by what was going on, and he took a stand. As far as I've heard, most of the industry is on his side.
In general, the quality of these popular award ceremonies has gone down the drain. Their purpose is to honor the stars, but they seem to devote more time to ridiculing. The hosts need to know where to draw the line. After a point, it all stops being funny.

I'm split on this issue. I felt it was very unfair for Ashutosh to just burst out on Sajid like this. Its not as if this is the first time jokes were being said on awards shows. Its been happening for a very long time. If Ashutosh felt so disturbed, he should've waited until the end of the show and talked to Sajid privately or the organizers. There was no need to create such a big controversy.
I felt really bad for Sajid because it was like a slap on his face. No matter how ppl percieve his jokes, the truth is that's what he gets paid to do. He's been joking around this way for a while now.
It was unfair to tear him down this way in front of the entire film industry.
I admire Ashutosh and he's definitetly very talented, but he really needs a sense of humor. Take everything with a pinch of salt.
I agree that awards need to have some class, but I also want the bollywood awards to retain a sense of individuality. Our award shows have performances, while hollywood doesnt.
Bollywood cannot become hollywood, and personally, I dont want it to. It has its own personality, hence even the award shows have their own charm, their own sense of humor. And I want that to be retained, not changed.

I agree with all those points Sheena. When I actually watched the show, I felt that Sajid was unfairly accused of somethign that he didnt do. As much as I respect Ashutosh as a film maker, he needs to have a sense of humor.

After watching the show I agree that it looked like Ashutosh went a little overboard . But he should have rather said that to Farah and not Sajid . As Sajids jokes are more funny than offensive so people even laugh at themselves and dont mind . But Farah was just outright rude to whoever came on stage , Even if she was supposed to have been taken funny she dint sound the least like it . She was just making mockery and insulting everyone vulnerable person like anurag, abbas mastan, the debutant singer . Ashutosh should have shown his displeasure to her .

The problem is not with the jokes (atleast not all of them) The problem is - Why are only people outside their own camp targetted? Personally I think its unfair how they keep picking on people whor unsuccessful. For eg, how they talked abt some actor KRK whose debut film flopped. Why not ever EVER talk abt Uday Chopra who has nothing but only flops to his credit?

Their so called joke on Neeraj Pandey on how Sajid should not beg him for anything as his clothes were pathetic was very rude. The poor guy later came on the stage and said "Gotta go, buy some clothes" instead of a Thank you speech for his award.

I agree with Suhana that after a point it just stops being funny!

I haven't seen the awards yet, but that is completely out of line. That is the biggest problem I have with Sajid. He picks on people, who are doing smaller films and are just beginners. What is up with that? I won't get into how both Farah and Sajid make fun of people, who are outside their camps. This is what happens to be the most troubling. Don't interrupt speeches and don't be so personal. Like I said eariler, it would have been much better if someone, who was actually funny like Cyrus Broacha hosted. He was funny at one of the telly awards without being as harsh as Sajid and Farah.

Infact I am much in Sajid's side too than Ashutosh, infact Ashutosh seems in hurry from the begin!, no one is complaining, I don't understand what is Ashu's problems, if he didn't make this scene, the media would never even give attention to this matter.........
Even if he didn't like what happend, he could at least discuss this privatly with Sajid and Farah, as far he said they r friends, why he is so doing a big scene?, he could solve it on a good note!.........
Infact, I found Farah rude, not Sajid, but I agree on what Sajid said, if the awards shows without these entertainment who would ever watch them?, it would be boring for the people too who r sitting there waiting for their awards, there should be some fun, but sure without crossing their limit, infact Sajid is making fun of himself to entainter them, I don't understand why Ashu is overreacting, he is right that it should be some respect, why he never talked in the pervious shows, where all these kind of things made many times?..........
Sajid too have to learn to put some limit to his jokes to not hurt any, but over all, I think it's much Ashu's fault than it's Sajid, coz he could solve this without making it on the public, there were many people who were there, nobody did complain, I didn't find it mature to go on stage and complain infront the TV and cameras, what he is trying to prove?, he even said shut up to Sajid, is it not a direct insult?, as far he said to Sajid we r friends, why he did like this?, he could take Sajid and Farah a side and talk with them about this matter..........
I find it much mature to discuss it privatly than showing frustrations and anger infront everybody!, infact Sajid handle it much in mature way than Ashutosh, when Ashu was complaning on stage!.............
