star awards- why all the hulla ? - Page 2

I fel Him and Shreyas dressing up in drag was very very boring, and it wasn't funny! Farah was humorous and Sajid was mildly funny! Farah was the best, she was funny, but without being insulting. Sajid was at times insulting, always making fun of flop films. Ashu was right when he said that a lot of work hard goes into making a film, and there's so much hope, and every film shouldn't be insulted b/c the film-makers feel bad. The Rani-Kunal thing was very insulting, and them constantly making fun of LS 2050 and Tashan was not good, so I gotta agree with Ashu.

The only problem that i have is that they pick on people who don't belong to their camp. Sajid's statement abt " who will watch award shows if it wasnt funny is completely wrong" as its based in individual preferences. There are so many award shows take for eg yesterdays SAG awards (Screen actors guild) which wasnt funny in the sense, they didnt make comments on other celebrities. It was conducted well and it was entertaining to watch.

why don't these people take potshots at SRK, Arjun Rampal, Salman, Sanju, saif etc etc and their gang of friends. Instead last year it was SLB and this year it was someone else.,

I would rather see cyrus, Jaaved jaffri and the likes .

What was insulting about the kunal thing even kunal was laughing his head off..infact according to some people wouldnt rani be in their camp :O so how could they do that!

why these ppl make fun of only those who arent in their "camps"... kabhi ashu, kabhi SLB...etc etc...

sajid's comment on neeraj pandey was so NOT funny! fun is good...but after some time it gets too much...

The problem is not with the jokes (atleast not all of them) The problem is - Why are only people outside their own camp targetted? Personally I think its unfair how they keep picking on people whor unsuccessful. For eg, how they talked abt some actor KRK whose debut film flopped. Why not ever EVER talk abt Uday Chopra who has nothing but only flops to his credit?

Their so called joke on Neeraj Pandey on how Sajid should not beg him for anything as his clothes were pathetic was very rude. The poor guy later came on the stage and said "Gotta go, buy some clothes" instead of a Thank you speech for his award.

I agree with Suhana that after a point it just stops being funny!

Referring to Sheena's request about actually watching the show before commenting, I guess I do agree with that. I've only seen the actual fight and not the entire award ceremony, so I guess I shouldn't be too hasty in making judgments. I'll watch the whole thing when I have some free time and try to return here to comment.

But as of now, I stand by what I said. The jokes that people have mentioned in this thread (and others which I have heard about from other forums) seem quite offensive to me. Ashutosh may have overreacted a bit, but I really don't think he was completely wrong in being irritated. I'm sure there are many others in the industry who agree with him and support him.

Also, just like others have mentioned in this thread, the stars from that camp (SRK, Saif, KJo, Farah, Sajid , etc) always target outsiders. They behave like a high school clique, praising each other and disrespecting others. One thing that's really getting to me now is Aamir Khan always being made fun of at these shows because he doesn't attend. It's his choice people! He's boycotting the awards, so fine...don't nominate him for anything. I would hardly blame the organizers for that. But why keep ridiculing him for it? Why don't they just let him be? (This is not meant to instigate any SRK vs Aamir discussion. What they say about each other in interviews is totally irrelevant. I'm only discussing the award ceremonies here).

Anyway, like I said before, I'll try to watch it if I get I chance. I respect the opinions of those who say Ashutosh overreacted...and I probably agree to some point. But in the end, I think it was about time someone said something to this effect. These award ceremonies need to be salvaged before things get too out-of-hand.

I guess in some ways the jokes could be taken offensively but you have to remember two things:

1) It makes the show entertaining because I can just read who won what on the paper, I would not waste my two hours watching it unless someone is sharing jokes or having a blast.

2) They do make fun of their own: they made fun of SRK ( for RNBDJ and the lighting about how everyone could recognize SRK but his wife in the movie). they made fun of hey baby that sajid can make decent films but he can't even dress his characters properly... i don't remember if there was anything else.

And according to the "camps" people are mentioning, wouldn't rani and Kunal be in the same camp? As for making fun of people like Arjun and stuff... why would he? He was well dressed, well spoken... you need things to start making fun of...

The thing is USUALLY i would have agreed with Ashutosh and applauded him for standing up and going against Sajid but in this case, he has no strong points. All of them were silly and absurd. So, no Ashu needs to calm down.
