New Delhi: Shah Rukh Khan's enormous fan following in UK is rejoicing as the wax statue of the star at London's most famous tourist attraction Madam Tussuad's is all set to be unveiled Tuesday!

King Khan, star of 49 films, flew to London to unveil his wax figure at the world famous attraction. It is believed that a special documentary on the star's rise in Bollywood will be showcased on the day.

Arrangements were made to ensure that SRK gets a chance to interact with his fans that are making their way especially for the ceremony from all over Europe and the world.

Experts from the museum had flown down to India earlier and spent time with the Bollywood star on the KBC sets as well as at his home so that they could take precise measurements of his physical features, his face and his hair.

The museum already has the wax statues of superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. Khan's wax figure is among the only 15 new figures created this year.

BETTER HALF: Gauri Khan with the waxwork model of her husband at Madame Tussauds.

London: Actor Shah Rukh Khan posed for photographers with his life-like double on Tuesday at the unveiling of his effigy at London's Madame Tussauds waxworks.

"I never visited Madame Tussauds, because somewhere deep inside my heart I felt I would come here when my wax work was here. So it is a cherished dream for my mum and for me and it has been fulfilled," he told Reuters.

The actor joins several Hollywood superstars, like Tom Cruise and Angelina Jolie, at Madame Tussauds, but he was unsure if he would be working with them for real. "It is not my wish to go to Hollywood, it has to be the wish of Hollywood to decide," he said, when asked if it was his ambition to break into the US film market.

"They (Hollywood) are bigger than us, they are the bosses," said Khan. "So unless they want to employ us, we are nobody to be sending our resume there and hoping we get a job. But I am very, very happy doing what I do."

Khan is only the third Indian actor whose wax image has been installed at Madame Tussauds. Aishwarya Rai and Amitabh Bachchan made it to the museum before Khan.

(Which Indian star should be next at Madame Tussauds?)

SRK: My wax-brother is younger and smarter

LONDON, APRIL 3:

While unveiling his wax duplicate, Bollywood badshah Shahrukh Khan looked clearly pleased. With his trademark smile, he described his wax figure as "awesome and surprising". Led by two Sikh drummers, Khan entered the crowded hall; took off his own flower garland and light-heartedly put it on the wax figure. He fiddled with its hair and posed beside it.

Khan thanked the museum and particularly the team that had gone to Mumbai in February to take his initial measurements. Standing next to his lookalike Khan said, "To come face to face with someone who is so much like you is really surprising."

So was he meeting his twin brother who got lost in a village fair many years ago? "No he doesn't look like my twin brother", said Khan, "He looks more like my younger brother. Younger and smarter." He said he would have preferred the figure showing the signs of age as he did now.

Khan said he first visited the world famous museum with his mother when he was a child and that she would have been proud to see his wax figure had she been alive today.

In the past few months Madame Tussauds had been inundated with thousands of requests from fan clubs in India, the UK, France, Germany, Japan and Australia to find out when the acting legend's figure would arrive. So not surprisingly, hundreds of Asian fans waited on a breezy cold morning for hours for Khan's arrival and many of them were clearly disappointed when they hardly got a glimpse of their favourite star. Inside the museum, visitors will be allowed to stand next to Khan's duplicate and take pictures. But the experience won't come cheap, with the entrance ticket costing 19 and further 7 for the privilege of a photographic poster with King Khan.

SRK-Kajol magical jodi to rock again!

Ever since Karan Johar's Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna boomed at the box-office. Karan is busy reading scripts after scripts and has finally zeroed on a script that will feature the magical jodi of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, which rocked Bollywood in the 90's. Infact the couple's movie, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge is still running in Mumbai's Maratha Mandir cinema non-stop for the past 11 years, running consecutively with packed houses week after weeks and has now entered in the 565 weeks! A unique record unmatched by any movie ever in the Universe!!!

Kajol who was seen in Karan's Kank for a flicker of a second, has been focusing more in hubby Ajay Devgan's production house. Kajol is planning to star in one of their home production with a hard-hitting women oriented movie. However being quite intimute to Karan Johar camp she could not deny Karan. But still she is yet to go through the script and sign the dotted lines… Meanwhile Karan is hunting locations in New York as the buzz has it that the film will be a social comment and will be exclusively shot in New York.

I wanted my flaws in statue: SRK

DOUBLE TAKE: SRK's wife Gauri quite literally couldn't keep her hands off him.

London: On Tuesday, superstar Shah Rukh Khan finally met his match. With a desi twist of Bhangra music, a garland and wife Gauri in tow, he unveiled his wax statue at Madame Tussauds in London.

The 41-year old actor is the third Bollywood star, after Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai to get waxed. So following Bachchan again?

"I don't want to sound pompous and self-centred but I came from Delhi and in the last 18 years I have come a long way. Please don't take it away from me," said Shah Rukh.

Amongst all the reasons in the world, Shah Rukh seems to like his mother's reasons for him being at Madame Tussauds the best.

"Like all mums, my mum felt I would be in Madame Tussauds one day, she thought I was very good looking, and she thought that was enough criteria to be here," he said.

But did he ask the makers to hide his flaws? "I wanted all my flaws included otherwise it would be too sweet and too nice," clarified Shah Rukh.

The actor seemed genuinely overwhelmed and even got a little philosophical.

"We say it in India that in movies and Bollywood films, it's a happy ending. And if it's not happy it's not the end. I'm feeling a little scared because this is very happy; so does it also mean the end? And do I feel that I need to do something more? Should I just retire?" he asked.

He had the right mix of humility and pride and wife Gauri certainly approved and quite literally couldn't keep her hands off him.

"She said it's been a long time since i've seen you look so young and you were only smiling for a change and not being grouchy and answering back," said Shah Rukh.

So if you want to get up, close and personal with the King Khan himself then this is as real as it gets. He's not leaving Madame Tussuads anytime soon.

SRK cashes in on Team India's ouster

BLUE-EYED BOY: SRK is clearly the beneficiary of the advertising industry's loss-of-faith in Team India.

Mumbai: Using the Men in Blue as brand ambassadors to sell television sets, refrigerators or colas is hardly a good idea right now. Team India has, sadly lost not only the World Cup but also some marketing credibility.

Pepsi has pulled off it's Ladoge Toh Jeetoge campaign featuring the Indian cricket team. Videocon also has stopped airing its spots, which star Indian wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and Sansui recently announced it would stop all its advertisements with Rahul Dravid.

Incidentally, the only Pepsi and Videocon ad-spots that will continue to air on television now are the ones featuring their Bollywood brand ambassador, Shah Rukh Khan.

"Shah Rukh's stock is good. But we think in the World Cup, the stock of cricketers is going to go up. So let's invest in them. And they lost their shirt. Videocon has already withdrawn, who knows who else will withdraw," says ad guru, Alyque Padamsee.

Ironically, it's widely believed that the World Cup is a bad time for Bollywood. Big films are seldom released in the cricket season and cricketers almost always replace movie stars in the public consciousness.

But with India's embarrassing performance this year, the tables clearly seem to have turned. Shah Rukh Khan is all over television, selling colas and FMCGs, while Sachin Tendulkar, Dhoni, Virendra Sehwag and Dravid have taken the kind of beating that they're not likely to recover from anytime soon.

"There is a chance they will play sometime, till the time they don't play, we are not making any ads with them, once they start playing, we will start considering Dhoni or Rahul Dravid," says CMD, Videocon, Venugopal Dhoot.

It's a rare thing when reel-life heroes replace real-life heroes. In this case, cricketers are getting the cold shoulder, and actors like Shah Rukh are benefiting unexpectedly.

The trend shows that the advertising business also functions like any other sport - one person's loss is another's person's gain.

Shah Rukh 'lands' in trouble with HC

COURT CALL: The court has given SRK two week's time to submit his documents.

New Delhi: A day after there was revelry following the unveiling of his wax statue at Madame Tussauds in London, there's some bad news for Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan.

The Bombay High Court on Monday directed Shah Rukh to submit documents regarding ownership, sanctions and permissions for construction in the compound of his bungalow Mannat in Bandra, within two weeks.

The direction comes from a division bench of Chief Justice Swatenter Kumar and Justice S C Dharmadhikari following a Public Interest Litigation filed by a Mumbai-based organisation Bhrashtrachaar Nirmulan Sanghatana.

The court had earlier dismissed another PIL that raised the same issue but the NGO claimed it was challenging the construction on different grounds.

Its main contention is that the construction blocks a motorable road along Mannat that links Bhabha Road and Mount Mary Road in suburban Bandra, which had been marked on the development plan.

It is alleged that Shah Rukh was given undue favour by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and state government when they lifted the reservation on a plot of land, adjacent to his bungalow.

The plot was subsequently purchased and developed by the actor.

SRK unveiled at Madame Tussauds!

By IndiaFM News Bureau, April 4, 2007 - 08:48 IST

Madame Tussauds witnessed a gala event to welcome Shah Rukh Khan, as his statue found abode in the prestigious Madame Tussauds wax museum. The long haul came to an end on 3rd April 2007, when his statue was unveiled before an excited audience.

Shah Rukh flew down to the London museum with wife Gauri Khan. The proud duo posed next to his wax statue, which looked like the exact replica of Khan, thanks to the precise measurements of his physical features taken earlier this year. Shah Rukh experienced a grand reception from the management.

As a part of the promotions, Madame Tussauds designed a typical Bollywood-style poster saying "Shah Rukh Khan stars in Madame Tussauds". The visitors had a chance to get their personalized copy of the Bollywood poster, after being photographed with the actor. Whether they would have been lucky enough to pose with SRK in person instead of his wax statue is uncertain! A 50-minute biopic showcasing Khan's journey to stardom was screened after the statue was uncovered. All in awe of Khan, the museum's library also stocked his pictorial biography Still Reading Khan.

SRK's wax statue stands tall in the museum now. It is hard to distinguish the real Khan from his imitation. The similarity between the two is simply outstanding!
