Beckhams kicked out for SRK

David Beckham and his wife Victoria's statues will move back from their prime spot at Madam Tussauds today to make place for SRK

Kunal M Shah

SRK will sport the same look as he did in DDLJ, for his wax statue

When Shah Rukh Khan's wax statue is unveiled at Madame Tussauds today, guess who's statue will be relegated to the back of the class? None other than English icon David Beckham's. Shah Rukh Khan will replace the maverick footballer and his wife Victoria Beckham's statue in the ranks.

SRK's statue will keep good company - no, not with good pal Amitabh Bachchan, and colleague Aishwarya Rai. He will stand rubbing shoulders with Hollywood stars like Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lopez and Brad Pitt.

As London gets ready to unveil Shah Rukh Khan's statue at the museum today, a source in London informs us, "Shah Rukh will arrive in London and walk the red carpet at 9.30 am, London time, in a Bentley Arnage, followed by a Bentley Azure. The entire Baker Street will be blocked for half an hour. Huge crowds are expected to show up, at least 10,000 people. His statue will be placed on the first floor of the museum in a special enclosure where the statue of David

Beckham earlier stood with wife Victoria. His statue will face Jennifer Lopez and will be near of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Will Smith will be on his left and the closest to him. John Travolta's statue will be his esteemed neighbour too."

It seems the space reserved for King Khan is even bigger than those reserved for Hollywood stars. The enclosure has been specially created for his statue. "The space includes a plasma television, which will run an audio-visual of SRK. And yes, a huge poster of Don will serve as a backdrop," adds our source.

The question about what Shah Rukh Khan's statue will be wearing has finally been answered. Our source says, "The star will be dressed in a costume from the song 'Tujhe dekha' from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, with the same jeans, shoes, his trademark black leather jacket et al."

K-K-K-Khan, give me a hug

Hysterical fan lands up from Dhaka to Kuala Lumpur for a hug from Shah Rukh Khan. When refused, she promises to follow him to the end of the world to get it

Viral Bhayani

1. Sadia Sheikh lands up at SRK's hotel and demands to meet him
2. SRK avoids her, gets into his car. She takes a photograph of him
3. 'All I want is a hug,' she screams, blocking the way and refusing to let his car pass

Recently, while Shah Rukh Khan was in Kuala Lumpur, he got a very close glimpse of hysteria. A die-hard fan managed to break through his security cordon and corner him for a hug. When refused, she promised to stalk him until she got it.

A die-hard fan of SRK, Sadia Sheikh, had come to Kuala Lumpur at the same time all the way from Dhaka, Bangladesh, just to meet her dream star. She then found out the name of the hotel the star was put up in, and tried to stay in the same hotel. But she was turned away for security reasons.

She put up elsewhere but continued to haunt the hotel SRK was put up in. When all ways of entering the hotel failed, she tried one of the oldest tricks in the world. She tried to bribe the security guards, first with fat wads of money, then, when that failed, with lots of chunky jewellery. Her one-point agenda was: meeting SRK in person and giving him a hug.

Later, when SRK was about to leave the hotel for the airport, she created a scene, screaming at her top of her voice and asking SRK to hug her. But since there were many other fans present too, and hugging one would mean hugging the entire crowds, SRK gave her a flying kiss instead.

Obviously this didn't satisfy his fan who, it turned out, is a retired teacher from Dhaka. Desperately in need of a hug from SRK, she planted herself in front of his car and refused to let him go, all the while screaming that SRK should step out from his car and hug her.

The drama continued fro some time and even the security guards were initially hesitant to physically move her out of the way, for they could all see her desperation.

However, SRK was getting late as he was the last one to leave for the airport, so finally she had to be overpowered and be taken away so that his car could move on.

Sadia Sheikh finally went away promising herself and everyone present that one day she would get SRK to hug her. And she would follow him to other events around the world to achieve this.

Print Edition of HT

For starters, my chahita Shah Rukh Khan played peacemaker to warring cats Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. I'm told he has brought about a truce between the two and got them to show up on Kaun Banega Crorepati.. and they were cream, sugar and hon ey (oooh, these gals act better offscreen).

M y, my..I 've never credit ed Salman Khan with the brain power of Einstein.. but it seems that his grey cells were in order..yaaah again on a KBC episode..but Jumma says Katrina Kaif scored high on the duh-metre.

Sallu even had to explain the questions to her.. and was pulling her leg.. metaphorically that is. Chalo, as long as Sallu is khush.

'KBC' to shell out 'dough' for 2 weeks to drive eyeballs

By RENELLE SNELLEKSZ
Indiantelevision.com Team

MUMBAI: Desperate times call for desperate measures! An analysis of the duration of Star's big ticket show Kaun Banega Crorepati as it draws to a close in its third season, finds the network countering a dipping ratings scenario with special episodes galore. And voila, here's another - In its culminating two weeks KBC is willing to dish out Rs 1,00,000 to viewers that correctly answers the questions asked to the hot seat contestant with the 'Khelo India Saath Saath' special episodes to kick off on 9 April.

With the show currently in its final hours, this activity is not only looking to drive viewership, but also as shell out cash to more aggressively rake in 'moolah,' which from the looks of it, has fallen short of expectations. On an average 15 questions will be asked per episode at the rate of Rs 6 per SMS, for eight consecutive episodes.

Additionally, the show has consistently been distributing freebies in all shapes and sizes from the product portfolio of sponsors endorsed by host SRK.

Infact, only last week, the channel ran a special episode giving away nine Santro cars to the 'Fastest Finger First' participants.

Coincidently, Sony's Virrudh was launched on the same day (26 March) at 9.30 pm. Subsequently, Zee TV also launched a 10.30 pm soap Teen Bahuraniyan which was strategically tackled by Star with a counter programming initiative by combining its top 'saas bahu sagas' Kahaani…, Kyunki…. and Kayamath into a one and half hour marathon episode.

Also amidst all the star studded appearances on KBC, with the likes of SRK's Bollywood comrades Preity, Rani, Boman Irani, Sanjay Dutt and others, he has also given away watches to participants from Tag Heuer which he also endorses . Interestingly, the 'Bollywood Badshah' is also set to give away Mushtaq Shiekh's coffee-table edition titled 'Still Reading Khan' on the episode to be telecast on 3 April.

Speaking to Indiantelevision.com Star India general manager - content and marketing Harsh Rohatgi asserted that the activity had been planned in advance and clearly pointed out, "This is not a money licking activity, but rather to take interactivity of the show to another level."

Now with cricket out of the way and as expected there will be viewers flocking back to GEC. Rohatgi expects that this activity alone will see a spurt of 15 - 20 per cent.

Spanning across two weeks from 9 to 19 April, the 'Khelo India Saath Saath' KBC special will allow viewers at home to play every question along with the hot seat contestant, to win Rs 1, 00,000 for each right answer, during the telecast of the show. Moreover, viewers can play for all questions asked during the episode and even if they get one wrong answer they will still be allowed to play for the next question with no limit on the number of entries sent by an individual per question.

The time frame to send the answers will start from the moment the question is asked on the show till the right answer is revealed (or the right answer turns green on the TV screen) on the screen.

The entry mechanism for all the questions will remain the same as 'Har Seat Hot Seat' so that BSNL / MTNL users can dial 1904-424-44240 followed by the correct option 1, 2, 3 or 4. Viewers can also participate through Airtel mobile and fixed line by dialing 5646 followed by the correct option 1, 2, 3 or 4. Or Airtel mobile users can also SMS or type 'KBC' and send it to 5646 with the correct option 1, 2, 3 or 4.

The only difference is that the options for the home viewers will change from A, B, C, and D to 1, 2, 3 or 4 in naming the answers. The name of the winner will be announced every alternate day from the day of telecast of the said episode.

Will SRK oblige?

By Taran Adarsh, April 3, 2007 - 03:07 IST

Shah Rukh Khan is known for going out of his way to accommodate friends. In the past, the actor had featured in cameos in films made by Karan Johar [KAAL], Samar Khan [KUCHH MEETHA HO JAYE], Khalid Mohamed [SILSIILAY] and Arjun Rampal [I SEE YOU]. There's talk that he has agreed to feature in a song for Farah Khan's brother Sajid Khan's directorial debut HEY BABY.

"I wouldn't like to comment on the development right now," Sajid Nadiadwala, the producer of HEY BABY, tells me, "We haven't decided on the song yet." Sajid Khan, the director, is equally tight-lipped about it, "Let's not talk about it till it happens." So, it's happening? "Why don't you talk to Sajid [Nadiadwala] about it?" he sounds evasive.

The King Khan is a close friend of Farah and Sajid Khan. In fact, Farah made her directorial debut with SRK's home-production MAIN HOON NA and is currently directing SRK in his next production as well. "Sure, we're friends, but that's a different issue," Sajid states.

However, the talk of SRK obliging the two Sajids has only gathered momentum in tinsel town.

SRK turns bookie

By: A hitList Correspondent
April 3, 2007

No, no, he hasn't been betting! Instead, he's gifted a contestant his biography in tonight's episode of KBC

Booked, Line And Sinker: Dominic and Shah Rukh Khan

After gifting expensive watches and cars, the oh-so-affable Shah Rukh Khan has decided to take the literary path now.

In tonight's episode of KBC3, Khan will gift hotseat contestant Dominic his biography SRK — Still Reading Khan, written by Mushtaq Sheikh.

Nicknamed Dom on the show, Shah Rukh pulls his leg when he is bombarded with a series of film-based questions.

After realising that Dom isn't too fluent in Hindi, SRK decides to rag him by asking him to mouth a series of tongue twisters like 'Kadak Singh ke khadakne se kadakti hai khidkiyaan'.

Not an avid movie lover, Dom finds it difficult to answer the questions. As a parting gift, SRK gives him the book after he tells him that his sister is a huge fan of the actor.

SRK's plans to revive game show

With rumours of a constant fall in TRP ratings of his game show, we've heard that the King Khan has decided to take things in his own hands.

Apparently, he has decided to forego the scripted lines and replace them with spontaneity and humour.

That may just do the trick. After all, the audiences love 'originals' and SRK, too!

Why Hollywood doesn't attract Shah Rukh Khan

03rd Apr 2007 11.31 IST
By Agencies

The charm of Hollywood does not seem to attract Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan That is because the King Khan feels there are no roles for him down there.

"If I were to do a film in Hollywood, then it has to be about a 40-year-old who is brown, short, has lots of hair and an Indian," Khan was quoted as saying in a local daily in Genting Highlands, Malaysia.

SRK said it was not up to him to decide if he wanted to work in Hollywood.

"Nobody from there has ever called me. And in my age group, Hollywood already has many actors, so I don't think they need me."

SRK was in Malaysia to attend the 10th Zee Cine awards held Sunday night.

SRK took home the Audience Award for Fun Entertainer and enthralled the audience by performing a dance number from his movies Don and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna , both of which did well at the box office in Malaysia.

SRK is well known to most Malaysians and his film 'Don' was shot mostly in the Southeast Asian country.

Bollywood biggies light up London

Aneesha Baig
Tuesday, April 3, 2007:

London seems to be the hot destination for Bollywood's biggest stars.

First up, Shah Rukh Khan arrived on Monday evening to unveil his waxwork at London's Madame Tussauds, which he says he is really looking forward to.

"Very excited to be here. I've never actually visited Madame Tussauds before," said Shahrukh.

A short while after Shah Rukh's arrival, the famous Bollywood couple Aishwarya and Abhishek also stepped off the plane.

They were in town for the world premiere of Provoked which will be held at London's Leicester Square. With rumours of their upcoming wedding flying around, the couple seemed very tight-lipped about any plans.

With two big events taking place simultaneously, the evening at Heathrow airport was a visual treat for all Bollywood fans.
