Big B gifts Rs 1.7cr Bentley car to Abhishek

Abhishek Bachchan may have been greeted only with a bouquet by his fiancee Aishwarya Rai on his 31st birthday, but his father Amitabh Bachchan surprised him with a Rs 1.7 crore white Bentley car as a gift.👏

Aishwarya, who was unable to go to Bikaner to usher in the birthday, was present at the Chhatrapati Shivaji airport to greet him on his arrival in the city.

Abhishek-Aishwarya will move in to Jalsa after marriage?
by Debasis Jana

Their marriage is just a matter of time now. People are that's why more interested buzzing about their post-marriage affair. After marriage, where Jr. Bachchan will move in – it's one of those million-dollar questions doing rounds right now in the tinsel town. There are rumours that Abhishek and Aishwarya can move in to Naivedya, a swanky bungalow at Carter Road , however according to close sources Naivedya has already been occupied by some other family so Abhishek and Aishwarya will either stay in Jalsa with senior Bachchans or will move in to a house of their own.
According to source, Abhishek and Aishwarya will possibly buy their own separate house because they have certain problem residing in Jalsa. "Firstly Jalsa is just three blocks away from the newly acquired property by Salman Khan, so Aishwarya may not feel easy residing so close of her ex-boyfriend. And the second reason is this bungalow was bought just before Abhishek's engagement to Karishma Kapoor, and was to be presented to the couple as a wedding gift, but the marriage didn't take place finally, and Abhishek doesn't want to remember the bitter incident anyway, so he too can opt for some new house of their own" the source said. So finally to where the new-wed couple move in – only time can say.

Marriage...that sounds so scary : Abhishek Bachchan

Abhishek Bachchan Speaks To Subhash K Jha. You turned a year older.
Yes, 31.

Is this birthday more special because you're getting married soon?
A birthday is a birthday. I was working through it. That's what I like to do on my birthdays. I like to spend my birthday with my family if I can.

When is the marriage going to happen?
Nothing is decided yet. I've left it to our parents to decide. We're ready any time they are.

But it's not happening in February?
No.

You are currently shooting for Drona in Bikaner.
It's a special-effects film. Interesting, because it's a new genre and therefore never done before by me. The film will have lots of special effects. And my mom plays my mom in the film, though she has a very brief role.

We shot together and it was great fun. Actually we did a Bengali film Desh together. I spoke a bit of Bengali in the film. The Drona director Goldie Behl is family. His sister Shristi and Goldie have grown up with me. Both mom and dad have worked for their banner.

So it's like a home-coming. This is my second film with Goldie. Great fun.

Why did Goldie take so long to make another film after Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai?
That was his personal choice, and we should respect that. He wanted to be sure of what he wanted to make. Both Goldie and I have changed a lot as persons. The conviction will show up in Drona. We've finished about sixty percent.

Guru has got you unbelievable applause.
Unfortunately because I'm in Bikaner I'm kind of cut away from what's going on in Mumbai. But it's great to know a TOI editorial has been written about it. Guru is a very special film. It's so wonderful to know that our hard work has paid off.

The audience has picked up on the emotions of the theme. The boxoffice collections convey that. When I saw the film first I was very inspired by the character. For the first time in my career I stopped being an actor and looked at the film as a member of the audience.

You worked hard on the body language and the girth of your character in Guru?
In today's day and age the audience is so well- versed in cinema you can't get away with sleep-walking through your role. The audience wants to be sucked into the world of make-believe. This kind of dedication is required from all actors. Guru has been a very demanding and very rewarding film.

One had to jump into it wholeheartedly. I'd hate to look back and think I didn't work hard enough on Guru, or any of my roles. There's always room for improvement. But I'd hate to be in a situation where I look back and say I should've worked better.

How does your dad's vocal appreciation of Guru make you feel?
If I may be allowed to sound a little pompous, let me say I didn't care what the rest of the world would say. His reaction would be more than enough for me. Did his reaction embarrass me ? Not not at all. Praise is what we live for.

My father's opinion means the world to me. He isn't only a father but also someone whom I consider to be the best actor in the world. To be honest I don't care what the film's fate would've been. His positive reaction to my work us enough. What more could I ask for?

As an actor I crave to make my parents happy. Thank God I got the opportunity in Guru. As a son I firmly believe I wouldn't want to come in the way of a father's praise. I'm not a father. So I don't know what that emotion is. One day I hope to be father.

Then I'll know the same pride that my father does. As a father he's allowed to express his appreciation for his son, isn't he? And I love him even more for it.

A lot of people feel he's over-doing the praise for you
I think they're being very mean. Yes, he's Mr Amitabh Bachchan. But first and foremost he's a father. People who grudge him a father's pride are not nice. Pl don't take that moment away from him. You've the right to express your comments on him as an actor. Please leave him alone when he' s playing a father.

A lot of people are disappointed by your performance in Dhoom 2.
I'm very proud of the film. I thoroughly enjoyed doing it. As for my subdued performance, as you called it, I had to go by the way the character was established in the first Dhoom. I was just carrying forward my character.

Are you a more careful selector of parts after Guru?
I've never selected parts. Parts have selected me.

Satisfied with life?
I don't think an actor can ever be fully satisfied. I'm very excited about the work that I'm doing.

Looking forward to your role as a householder?
That sounds so scary. It's a new dawn, a new day, new challenges….I'm looking forward to it. God has been very kind.

Ash-Abhi's Raaste off-course
By: Shaheen Parkar
February 16, 2007
Vicky Singh's directorial debut Raaste seems to have gotten off to a bumpy start. The film's first schedule in June has been postponed to October-November this year.

It is learnt that this is being done at the request of Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, who star in the film together. They have cited personal reasons for the shoot to be deferred to a later date.

Sunil Shetty's Popkorn and Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Films jointly produce Raaste. Besides Abhishek and Aishwarya, the cast also includes John Abraham and Sikander Kher.

Race tactics

When asked about the deferred shoot, Ramesh Sippy of Balaji Telefilms, says, "Certain cast members cited unavailability in June, so we have now postponed it to October-November. The June schedule was supposed to be a short schedule in any case, so it's alright."

Raaste was launched in December 2006 at the GIFA Awards in Malaysia. A specially made promo was screened to drive home the point that the project was a road film with lots of cars and bikes. John plays a biker while Abhishek is to be a racing enthusiast.

"We were supposed to have an outdoor shoot schedule in Mexico during the racing season there, but there's a racing event in October-November as well, so we will shoot then," points out Sippy.

It is learnt that major chunks of Raaste will be shot abroad. Besides Mexico, it will also be filmed in Turkey.

No skin show

Besides the delayed first schedule, another buzz doing the rounds refers to Aishwarya Rai. Apparently, the actress expressed reservations about her styling in the film. Post Dhoom:2, she does not to seem keen to sport a dare-bare look in Raaste again.

When asked about this, Sippy pooh-poohs any such reservations. "That's not true; I have not heard any such thing from Ash."Incidentally, Vicky Sigh has earlier assisted Farhan Akhtar.

Mumbai, Feb 15 (IANS) Abhishek Bachchan is upset with those who said his father Amitabh went overboard while praising him for his performance in "Guru".

"People who grudge him a father's pride are not nice. Please don't take that moment away from him. You've the right to express your comments on him as an actor. Please leave him alone when he's playing a father," Abhishek told IANS in an interview.

"My father's opinion means the world to me. He isn't only a father but also someone whom I consider to be the best actor in the world. His positive reaction to my work is enough! As an actor, I crave to make my parents happy."

If Abhishek is scaling new heights in his professional life, everything seems to be going in the right direction on the personal front too. He got engaged to Aishwarya Rai last month and the marriage is expected soon.

When asked about his marriage date, Abhishek said: "Nothing is decided yet. I've left it to our parents to decide. We're ready any time they are."

[edit] Biography

[edit] Early life
Abhishek was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He is the son of Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan and renowned actress Jaya Bhaduri (she is also a Samajwadi Party MP in Rajya Sabha). Abhishek did his schooling at Jamnabai Narsee School, Bombay Scottish School, Modern School (New Delhi) and also went to Aiglon College. He then went to the United States to complete his education at Boston University. His grandfather, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, was a well-known poet of Urdu and Hindi. The original last name of the family is "Srivastav"; "Bachchan" was in fact a pen name used by his grandfather. However, when his father Amitabh Bachchan entered films, he did so under his father's pen name.

[edit] Career
Abhishek made his film debut in J.P.Dutta's Refugee along with Kareena Kapoor in 2000 but the film was not considered a success. In a span of four years, Bachchan went on to do many more movies, without any major box-office successes. However, with his performance in Mani Ratnam's Yuva, he proved his mettle as an actor.[4] He portrayed the character of Lallan which earned him the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award and every other supporting actor award at the major film award functions.[5][6][7]

In 2004 he starred in Dhoom which was the first box office hit of his career. In 2005 he shot to fame with three consecutive hits: Bunty Aur Babli, Sarkar and Dus. His fourth film in 2005 Bluffmaster was moderately successful.[8]. He recently won his second Filmfare Award in the Best Supporting Actor category for Sarkar.

His first 2006 release, the multi-starrer Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006) did extremely well at the box office.[9] He was also a part of Mani Ratnam's stage show, Netru, Indru, Naalai alongside many other co-stars. His second release Umrao Jaan failed to do well at the box office.[10] His third release Dhoom 2, a sequel to his first hit Dhoom has done very well at the box office.[11]

His first release in 2007 was Guru. He has received much acclaim for his performance.[12]

The song "Kajra Re", which Abhishek performed in the film Bunty Aur Babli (2005), was voted best song of 2005 and best choreographed song of 2005 in a poll by the Hindustan Times.[13]

[edit] Personal life
He was engaged to actress Karisma Kapoor in 2001, an engagement later broken.[14] Gossip has linked him with a number of actresses.

After much speculation it was announced on January 14, 2007 that he became engaged to Aishwarya Rai in a private ceremony.[15] This was later confirmed by Amitabh Bachchan.[16]. On the occasion of his 31st birthday, his father gifted him a Bentley Continental GT.[17] It was later found, however, that Amar Singh was the real owner of the Bentley. Mr. Amar Singh has maintained that he is the owner of the Bentley and has never gifted the car to Abhishek. [18]
