Point is not about good or bad journalism .. that way nothing is credible .. not even those film aawards where the ones present r handed over the awards whether they deserve it or not .. but fact remains that so and so actor got the awards .. u cannot deny the facts is all I m saying
for example Aamir is my fav and he deserves it for PK but SRK will get all awards for HNY because he attends all awards .. so do I go around questioning the credibility of these awards just because Aamir is not awarded ? I wont do that bec I know SRK is popular candidate when it comes to awards ... bec of his presense the award show sells ..I will accept this fact whether I like it or not
same is case with BB8 and Gautam whether one likes Gautam or not ...but the fact is this season more or less surrounded around Gautam and almost all tabloids wrote about him whether positive or negative .. even this forum statistics say same .. 80% posts on gautam ..positive or negative ... twitter FB , every single tabloid wherever BB8 is mentioned , first name that comes in the article is Gautam ...
About Trps , again I agree , noone knows what is exact reason for trps going up .. but if there can b posts claiming UpMa got trps , then why can I make a post claiming Gautam got trps ? 😳 .. Like I said its all about convenience ...
So, let me get this right, Jyoti ji? You agree that nobody can be sure about the TRPs, and your post was only to suit your convenience?? 😆😆😆
[If only I knew this... I'd not have argued so much. ]
BTW - I have never made a post about UpMa being responsible for the increased TRPs. And I was expecting that you will only debate with real facts, and not just "news stories" that suit your convenience.
I agree with you that the point here is not about good or bad journalism.
Credibility of any news piece however is another matter. There are some things that we can easily question and doubt. Like, a statement such as: "The TRPs increased because of xyz". We can easily question this because we are watching the show, and we only need to know the period over which the TRPs were compiled, and then to think back - about how true that statement could be. This is an easy task. It is quite objective.
Awards are not objective. The process of selecting the jury, the nominees, and the final awardees is never transparent. And even then, you may not, but many people do question the results.
Curiosity and a spirit to question are intrinsic to human nature - and this is something we do all the time. Subconsciously, I never just listen to the news. I always weigh it in my mind before accepting it.
Perhaps I can also tell you from my own experience why I think TOI and Mumbai Mirror are complete failures and have no credibility.
Last year, a member called Cruiser uncovered enough proof to show that Sangram Singh is not a real wrestler. TOI and Mumbai mirror would routinely publish such "news" about Sangram's greatness and his list of fake achievements that have done India proud.
When Cruiser and I contacted these news outlets, we wrote so many letters placing the facts before them; and even after a lot of effort, when we got one editor to agree to retract the false articles and publish an apology - in the end, he did not.
I know from first-hand experience that they do not do their research well enough before publishing the news, and they don't even bother to correct it when the facts are placed before them.
Anyway - as always - if was fun debating with you. Now that I know that you were only just speculating for convenience, I won't go on any further. 😳
