P. S. My personal opinion is that pure Hindi (and not the hindi infected by urdu) should be India's national language. We need a common language. But that's not happening. 🤪

Indians have this subconscious differentiation between people from different parts of the country.sometimes its clearly evident. For eg Undercurrent tensions between North and south India., between North East and rest of India etc.

Although Indians have common indian nationality, we also have deep rooted regional identities. And people are very protective of the same.Culture In kerala is so different from that of UP,, or culture of Gujarat is different from that of Assam.Languages acts as a major force in establishing, and continuing these traditions and cultures.

. By forcing people to accept one language as national language is going to backfire.Majority will see that as a threat to their regional identities and culture. . For eg if you are going to force hindi definitely south Indians , and other regional people will feel that hindi speaking people are trying to dominate them. This can only lead to unwanted chaos.

India is a diverse land , and its diversity has been preserved through generations. Even with the diversity we are still standing united and strong.Trying to give prominence to one language and culture will disrupt the balance.

One questions ,if govt decided to promote pure tamil (oldest language of india , which originated in India, )as our national language how many will agree?

Dont agree. There is only one state keeps crying imposition. The same state has no problem with 2 foreign languages but has problem with indian language. 🤪

Maybe 70 is high but 60 to definitely hai who can speak but doesnt speak because of many reasons. One of them is already mentioned in this thread. I post hindi should be national language as my personal opinion and some people started crying hinthi yemposition. 🤪

please don’t make fun of regional accents when making the case for a rashtrabhasha because that clearly shows one’s national character as being divisive and parochial.

I suppose if BB is Hindi-English mixed it's best. No need to use tough Hindi words, being a Bengali its difficult for me and some others. How Shamita speaks I like it... much better than Punjabi mixed Hindi or Marathi.

Yes i agree BB shud be in Hinglish from next year officialy by rule as it is already in Hinglish without any rule. bt its difficult to implement as a rule becoz it will not allow to draw line where to stop excess English use.

personally we Indians are more comfortable in Simple hindi only. People who know Hindi bt not english much are still very comfortable with English in accessing mobiles, computers etc rather than official hindi language.

You can just change ur phone settings to Hindi nd find out how much Indians are comfortable with English nd official hindi is taken a backseat.

More than Hindi Hinglish is used with English eords or nouns mixed with hindi grammar.

Warning : This is a small essay.

The problem is not with the language per say, but with the mindset of people promoting it.There is something called choice. This attitude of looking down at them because they are ok with using foreign languages and not hindi is absurd. Those foreign languages have already been assimilated into their language and culture. If they are not ready to do that with hindi , why don't people respect their decisions. Hindi might be just another language, but by imposing them , they fear people from hindi speaking belt might dominate them culturally and economically. .That issue needs to be addressed, rather than indirectly questioning the morale of that state.

Even I know no language imposition is going to happen.

Also u didn't answer my question regarding tamil ? Are u OK with it being the only national language of india ??

India chose to keep its myriad languages alive and kicking by choosing a multilingual linguistic policy.

I quite like the idea of keeping languages alive. So am happy with what's happening in India because despite all these differences, there indeed is unity in diversity. There is something that unites us all, i.e. being Indian.

Sorry guys for taking off like this on a totally unrelated topic to BB but well India does not have a Rashtrabhasha and DaddyMarvel did the right thing to point this out!
