The S1 Maya had distinct traits which normally overlap with quite a few disorders. There have been times I've debated w myself if she's got narcissistic personality disorder or borderline personality disorder or OCPD. But since most of h er traits along with those which fell in the NPD and BPD zones, overlapped in the spectrum of OCPD, i stuck to the theory that she suffered from OCPD. But, we're on the same page that she's very cold-blooded when it comes to the crimes committed by her.
It's not my job to decide what's wrong and what's right. I'm not here to do so either. I just happen to look at the cause and the course of action which lead to a reaction. I merely state that. Because for the past 8+ years, in the medicinal field, I've been taught to that. I used to look at maya as a patient. but it's been a long while I've stopped. It's indifference that I feel.

It couldn't be ocpd. S1 Maya heavily leaned towards borderline personality disorder. Ur a psychiatrist and probably know better than me tho. But if u were suggesting that Maya was taking pills for depression before she met Arjun and that's okay, coz she was doing something about her condition which was basically useless, but then meeting Arjun made her lose all her sensibilities and she discontinued her meds, it's a point highly based on assumption. Also, Maya's symptoms were never in sync with depression, as I said, leaned more towards a personality disorder, so yeah, probably the doctor who diagnosed this case as depression should've been fired.

I am not even sure if CVs earlier wanted to show Maya as someone who was suffering from mental health issues and then later changed their minds or was it supposed to be this way 😕
Why the hell they didn't clarify if she was suffering from something or not...if yes then what exactly

In the initial epis it was hinted that she had insomnia and depression

She tried to cut her wrists

but later we found out that Maya tried fake suicide attempts to emotionally blackmail Arjun so that he couldn't leave her

So, was her wrist cutting also an attempt to stop Jhanvi from not leaving her and to never go and meet Ashwin from next time 😕

The doctor of the asylum did mention that he had prescribed her anti depressants and that apart from depression she was not suffering from anything else and in fact he had never come across an intelligent woman like Maya.

I personally would want makers to clarify this once and for all.

Yes, it was. Wrist cutting is parasuicide. U cannot die from cutting ur wrists. Am sure Maya knew this and used it as means of blackmailing her mother to stay with her and never go to Ashwin. She did that even to Arjun whenever he was about to leave her. All these point to borderline personality disorder, but the events that followed it just make her a cold blooded criminal and a murderer.

It wasn't shown that she was taking pills specifically for depression.
Lumos,
I've never ruled out the possibility of BPD, it's just that we must know her a lot more than what's been told to us to pinpoint a certain diagnosis. Her character got inconsistent. The CVS took elements from many, many sources and messed up. They should've been consistent.
OCPD is a severe personality disorder. It's different from ocd. I'd like you to read about if you can. Now though, it's kichdi.

Anshvi, now that it's behuda. I don't want them to disclose anything about her illness. Let her be just pagal. They'll ruin the essence of the traits and it'll be an injustice to the whole show. I'm not being able to put it correctly but I hope you get what I'm saying.

Yup, will surely read about it. Am not really interested in psychiatry, I hardly read much about in Ug, so pardon my limited knowledge about it. Her character did get inconsistent and makers did make a mockery of mental illness in this show.

She didn't do it in front of jhanvi though. That one factor had perplexed me. She deep down had known that it won't matter to jhanvi. As when given a choice between Maya and literally anyone else, jhanvi would chose the latter, due to her own instability.
And yes, one can't die from cutting wrists. Its gonna take ages to bleed out sufficient enough to die. But popular culture has made it seem the most easy and fast way to die.

Calling it a mockery would be an understatement.
They can spend so much on the bugdet but can't consult apsychologist or psychiatrist or a legal advisor to get their facts right.

How did it not matter to Jhanvi? Didn't she go and warn Ashwin to stay away from Maya after that? Jhanvi did freak out. U can't say that it didnt matter to Jhanvi and maya knew it. Maya's been using this trick of parasuicide to blackmail ppl whom she loves and wants to control, so that they stay put with her since before she met Arjun. A good doctor, should have seen this and recognised that these are not symptoms of depression in any way. But there's no point in debating all this coz makers have made a mockery of this whole issue. What started out as a brilliant n intriguing story, ended up like most other thriller shows where the villain just keeps winning everytime and escapes Scot free after committing numerous crimes. The only thing that may seem different here is that Maya doesn't own up to any of her crimes and like most ppl on this forum, searches for others to blame for her actions and plays victim all the time.

Agreed. It's pointless discussing it further.👍🏼 waste of time energy and efforts for all of us including the CVS.
Such a grand start and strong plot and now it's all down the dumps.
(PS: jhanvis character is very inconsistent and unstable, can't rely neither on her actions nor on words)

Well for me and others like me who don't belong to the medical field these CVs have made a khichdi of what exactly was wrong with Maya.
If they decided to handle a sensitive issue like mental health then they should have done proper research and should have clarified exactly what Maya was suffering from or if she was suffering from any mental illness at all.

Now it is simply ambiguous and left upto the assumption of the viewers.
