The crimes she committed are what she shouldn't have. But here some are forgetting the whole gist of the show!

Maya is shown to be a psychologically challenged woman who has gone through numerous hardships that made her like this. She is indeed sick but of course this normal world can't accept some abnormality. Just because someone has psychological problems they are considered mad.

To understand what Maya did you have to keep in mind her condition. To her everything that she did there is only one reason, "Arjun" which according to her (a patient) is right because she is just trying to keep and protect what is hers. Because of no proper treatment Maya's insecurities are just growing more and more which are making her do more and more wrong.

I do not know what exactly happened with her and Samay/Rajiv so I am not gonna explain that now cause I have to understand it myself first.

Her actions can't be justified, no. She did wrong and for that she should be punished but I only feel sympathy and pity for her not hatred.

Very good post dear...actually Maya haters think the show is all about Sanjh and Arjun the lead couple and Maya the villain, they do not want to accept the fact that the show is all about the abnormal Maya, she is the one whom show's title belongs to.
Yes, what Maya did were crimes, no one is denying but this is the whole story that how a physiologically challenged girl deal with her life, love (Arjun) , family and surrounding people (threats to her love according to her).
In the promo itself she burned the house (which is very abnormal and daring thing) of pandit because he said something bad about their married life, so it was clear the Maya character will be like this,

Exactly Missiam Boss. It is the story of the woman who tried to survive in this world despite a raw deal she got in the childhood. I also cannot hate her, I feel sorry for her. Such a talent wasted because of psychological problems, insecurities.
Coming to Saanjh, everyone is telling one part of Saanjh. Why are they forgetting Saanjh almost tried to kiss Arjun in the restaurent. She called Arjun to restaurent without Maya knowing it. When wife was there she hugged her husband and that hug was inappropriate, didnt feel at all platonic. Then put the colors on Arjun the first thing. Even a normal wife would fee bad with all the above things Saanjh did. What about Maya who already has quite a lot of insecurities. It is not justifying Maya putting Samay in Saanjh's life, it is telling the inappropriate behaviour of a woman with a married man which can cause insecurity to a normal wife.

Any sane girl would have walked out of the relationship after the holika dahan hug saanjh gave to Arjun giving her hubby a choice choose between me and your beyhadh friendship that is crossing limit.

Maya's problem was she tried to stick to her marriage trying to eliminate Saanjh which led to one crime after another.

Ayan is the only collateral damage of the show who didnt directly do anything to add to Maya's insecurity. When he came to Maya's house, Arjun was responsible for it who went and told Ayan his sob story of trapped in Maya's cage.
Most importantly when he was in Maya's house instead of pushing to open the door, he went for the key in Maya's dress mouthing inappropriate dialogues and tearing her dress in drunken state. He forgot he was medium for everyone to reach Arjun or to seperate Arjun and Maya. He is paying the price and a real collateral damage of Maya's madness.

Vandana and Saanjh has done their own share to create insecurity in Maya.

Maya's fear is justified if she is losing her control over Arjun! But Arjun is neither leaving her nor she lost her control ever over him in this show so far!!
She did not let anyone win against her! Not even Ashwin, after she grew up! And Samay was always under her thumb, except for the last few episodes! Even here too, I am sure Maya will be the winner once again!
If someone is continuously winning belying the law of averages, then why to fear really?

Her obsession is unnecessary, senseless & unjustifiable as it causes only pain to everyone!

Exactly! Beyhad is all about Maya. Beyhad is not just a love story where the hero falls in love with the wrong girl while the good one sulks in a corner until provoked enough to take action and later the hero leaves the bad one for the good one. No. It is all about Maya a woman who's psychologically ill and what she does when she falls in love. The obsession, the love, the fear, the manipulation.

Every promo since the initial ones and the ones when the show started and even the latest one is all about Maya and her beyhad-ness. Like in the latest promo, "...ya phhir Maya kissi hadd ko paar karegi.."

^^ See😆

Have you ever dealt with a person like Maya in reality? I have.

To us normal people things like this feel irrational and senseless but to a person like Maya who is psychologically ill and her illness is at that point where she can't differ between what's right and what's wrong, she just wants to keep "Arjun" the one person who loved her and whosoever will try to tear them apart Maya will obviously take actions.

To understand this you have to understand the difference between a psychologically unstable person and a mentally unstable person. Maya is the former one. A mentally challenged person won't plan and plot like this while a psychologically ill person who loves someone so obsessively will do everything possible to have control over her loved one which is Arjun in Maya's case.

@pink-bold Maya has no fear of law or anyone else, what she fears is that if Arjun got to know about her illness he will reject her, call her mad and psycho and will ultimately leave her. "Arjun" It's everything about that damned guy that she fell in love with.

- She killed Ashwin because she was afraid that once Ashwin tells Arjun the truth he will leave her.

- Arjun called Maya's love suffocating because she kept an eagle eye on his every move. Why did she do that? Again because of her fear that if she doesn't control Arjun he will leave her.

- Why Maya created misunderstanding between Arjun and Saanjh? Because she was afraid that Saanjh will snatch Arjun away from her.

Maya's whole life revolves around Arjun. Her happiness, her love, her sadness, her tears, her jealousy, her fear, every emotion of hers is for Arjun.

And again I would like to mention that to understand Maya's obsession you have to understand the velocity of her illness, keep in mind that she is not in her right n sane state of mind that can judge what is right and what is wrong, that what is rational and what could be termed as senseless. Maya will do everything to keep Arjun no matter if it is a criminal offence.

All this doesn't and will never justify the crimes she committed.

Totally Agree.. Each and every character in this show are suffering because of her senseless obsession. Ok, I understand, Maya had bad past, so she is like this. So what?.. Why others have to suffer because of her?.. enough of her nonsense. I am going to skip today's episode. 'ankhein phad phad ke dekho.. aur jhoot bolo..' this is Maya's style of telling lies, which has become so common, even acting wise.

This is also a story where others are suffering or being killed because of Maya's psychological disorder or her obsession or whatever so called reason. Why did not she go for treatment knowing about her illness? Why is she roaming around freely to destroy others life? If someone tries to find her past or Arjun gives more importance to someone other than her, she comes up with a plan and make them look bad in front of everyone. If someone has proofs of her crimes, she wants the proofs to be destroyed even if that action costs a life.

Someone who does crimes/evil actions is the villain, so Maya is definitely the villain of this show.

According to Maya she is not obsessive but Samay is obsessive! And his obsessive love(or lust) is repulsive to many! Maya's love is also becoming repulsive because it is harming many others!
She suffering due to some childhood related problems etc may possibly make a case to experts in the field of psychology but not to common persons who wish to live peacefully!

Maya has to behave sensibly otherwise she should get isolated from the rest!
