I don't think it will be a typical saas bahu drama but Vandana's superstitions and beliefs such as people being bearers of bad luck are truly off putting. They may not make the show an outright saas bahu drama but they are bringing in elements of the negativity that we see in the Star Plus type of shows (e.g. the slightest of mishap being seen as an inauspicious event).

I agree...I hate the way they keep bringing the "Maya" is bad luck angle again and again through Vandana...Our country already has so many superstitious beliefs like this and so many people suffer due to this so anyone or any show trying to propagate this belief is extremely off putting.

That being said the show does make Arjun and Saanjh repeatedly say that these kind of beliefs are wrong and that if things go wrong its not anyone's fault, it's just destiny. So I think ultimately the makers are trying to say that this kind of blind faith and superstition is wrong...If not now I think by the end of the show we will have Vandana agree that she was wrong and that Maya was not bad luck and did not bring about their family's destruction like how she thought she will.

I don't know how that will happen but I hope it does.

Another point about the saas-bahu angle that I just wrote in another thread which I think is relevant to my previous post, is this:
What's up with Maya's willingness to put with jibes just because Vandana is a mother? No, Maya. A woman does not have the right to berate and insult others at every opportunity simply because she is a mother.
