Why the makers are not making it a saas-bahu show...

I saw a lot of posts on how the show is turning into a typical "saas-bahu" show and how Maya is turning into a typical serial bahu, so I wanted to put in my 2 cents about this.

Today's episode makes me think that it's not going to go that route...Reason is that the makers themselves chose to call out on Vandana and Maya's tv serial behavior through Ayan and Arjun respectively.

Ayan told Vandana that she is behaving like a typical serial evil saas and her character changed after the wedding and Arjun makes fun of Maya for behaving like a serial bahu...This is not something that we as an audience are thinking but something that the makers are themselves highlighting and joking about. If they were serious about Vandana and Maya behaving like typical saas-bahu moving forward they would not have made a joke about it.

So this definitely makes me think that this is not the route they want to take. It will probably be Maya vs Vandana now but not in the typical way. Maya will manipulate her way into making Vandana look bad in front of Arjun and Vandana will keep falling into the trap due to her blind faith and blind hatred for Maya.

Some other things I liked about the last couple of episodes:

1. The makers are clearly trying to say that pandits, superstitions and apshaguns are hogwash...By having Arjun and Saanjh repeatedly tell that to Vandana, they are trying to send out the message that one should not believe in these things...That makes me happy becoz the emphasis on these things was something that was disturbing me about the show...This also means that whatever the pandits said about Maya-Arjun might not really happen

2. I am loving the dialogues they have been giving Arjun since the last few days...Especially what he told Vandana and Maya today. Refreshing to see a son actually calling out his mother on her wrong beliefs and standing up for his wife.

3. Maya today told in front of god that she was thankful that he always removed the hurdles from her path and thanks him for removing Ashwin from her path. The fact that she thanked god for that means that she did not kill Ashwin. If she did kill Ashwin she would not have thanked God for removing Ashwin from her life. So then that leaves the others as suspects...

What are your thoughts???

Great post shruti!!!
Even I don't think that based on one episode we should think there will only be Saas bahu drama in the show!
I love it how everything Is happening despite the superstitions! They're showing that superstitions don't mean anything and life goes on without believing them!
Vandana is an ungrateful b**** who doesn't understand that Maya was the one to reunite her with Arjun!
I loved Arjun a whole lot more today! The way he stands up for his wife is just amazing! And yes Maya was definitely not involved in ashwins murder, cuz she believes in god way too much to go and kill someone...

Its not just one episode, they have started showing this from past 3 episodes. Maya begging infront of that inspector, Maya asking Arjun to leave her (is it the same Maya who would do anything for Arjun) and today Maya's bahu wali scenes

i tink d story is gona mov 4wrd d way u said.. already arjun has kinda started dislikin his mom fr her hatred 2wrds maya. Maya is jus gona manipulate things & make it look like vandana is evil in frnt of arjun. i dont tink shez really tryin2 win vandana's hrt. she ll only wana separate her frm arjun i guess..

1st point. i dono, bt stl i tink d cvs blve in stuff like dis. cuz dey repeatedly show evry pandit sayin d same thing. & even d lamps burnt in an awkward way ( in mauritius). & wen arjun made his promise, d lamp flamed out. so i guess deyre really tryin2 show dat maya is dangerous fr arjun.. 🤢 creepy logic😡

2nd yes.. arjun is adorable tes days. twas awsm to c him give it bak2 vandana in d best way. d way he wokd out, & was ready2 leave his house, was wow! he wsnt ready2 leave even wen he hated vandana, cz of his promise2 his dad. bt 2day jus fr maya, he was ready2 leave d house 4va.. respect & luv fr dis guy 😊

3rd.. im stl confused. she DID tank god, bt i stl feel shez smhow connected 2 d murder.. ( i hope shez not )

I totally agree with each of your words. Show will not go to typical saas bahu route definitely no. I think Maya had tried from her side to be good with Vandana but her blind hatred will bring manipulative side again 😕. I am not surprised about that police station thing because any normal person will be shaken with so much drama on her wedding.

I won't care about all Pandit's supersition and stuff like that. I am not trying to connect with that panda's illogical point of view. If ghar ki bahu can bring only happiness then no house will have problems but then she was also bahu before, did she bring good luck to Arjun's family. Yes it is newly wedded girl's responsibility to bring happiness but that does not mean they can run away from destiny.

Yeah and according to that vandana was the unluckiest person for Arjun!
When she came both of Arjun's parents died! 😆
And ever since maya came into Arjun's life he has gotten name fame and money
And apart from that he got his mom back because of Maya
Yet vandana thinks that Maya can only break not make which is the biggest joke of the world 👏

I honestly din't find anything wrong or illogical about Maya begging in front of the inspector. I mean Maya's big weakness is Arjun and her mother...If either of them are in harms way she does lose all her rationale thinking and becomes a crying wreck...we have seen that time and again.

When Saanjh told her to be strong Maya responded saying that Arjun is her strength...So the thought of Arjun being taken away from her maybe permanently if he is put in jail, is why she panicked and behaved the way she did...

The inspector clearly had a bone to pick with her...It was clear that he would do whatever he has to do to get Arjun into trouble...Any smart person in this scenario would not challenge and antagonize the inspector further but would rather apologize and ask him to let go of their loved one..and that is what Maya did. Also if you notice that once it was proven that Ashwin died of a hear attack and that the inspector had no reason to keep Arjun, Maya stopped being weak in front of him. The next day when the inspector came she was pretty much her old self while dealing with the inspector.

Also I am not too bothered by her wanting to leave Arjun...she was clearly going through a period of self doubt...she was worried about him and was probably blaming her bad luck for whatever happened to him. Also Maya has always been shwon as someone who believed in the pandits and apshaguns so it makes sense that she would affected by people's taunts about her being a bad omen.

However strong a person is there will be moments when you become weak and act out of character...generally when it comes to the people you love. So yes as of now I am not to worried about the track the show is taking..

lets see how they take it from here

My thoughts exactly Shruti.. the fact that they took a dig at the typical tv saas bahu drama through Ayan and Arjun's dialogues is indicative of the fact that its not going to be the usual kitchen politics.. Vandana is being mean without intentionally wanting to do so.. the frustration that she couldn't have Saanjh as her DIL who in her eyes would have been perfect for Arjun and her family, pandit's prophecy, her concern for her son coupled with the fact that she gets intimidated by Maya who doesn't fit her idea of an ideal DIL is making her do all this.. without realizing that it's not Maya but her own actions that is gonna create distance between her son Arjun and the family.. if she had been smart she would have atleast pretended to like Maya.. I am liking Arjun and I think Kushal is slowing growing on me as Arjun.. Maya and Arjun are looking great onscreen as a newly married couple..The look that Maya gave Vandana when she about to enter their house the first time was a subtle transition from anger, attitude ( the bossy Maya look ) to a hurt look ..I think that bit was done brilliantly by Jennifer..

P.S- new entry..that inspector is so not convincing as an inspector.. looks like a joker to me...not impressed with the casting..

Thanks 😊...And yes Vandana is being ungrateful...I am surprised that not once did they show her acknowledging Maya's role in getting Ayan out of jail and in reuniting Arjun with her. ..And yes I am finally starting to like Arjun's character too.

I think the symbolism's are definitely CVs way of hinting at the future track ie. the lamp going off, the diya's burning together, Saanjh's dupatta getting stuck in the gathbandhan etc. But the actual apshagun's and prophesies made by the pandits's is what they are saying is not true.

And about Maya's involvement in the murder...I increasingly feel she was not directly involved , but she will be the one who will be implicated and will have to face the trial for it and prove herself innocent.
