Hi again! I hope you all are doing well. I've been reading some posts about Saanjh and Maya comparisons and I'd like to point out some things that just seem, well, weird to me.
First off, I'd like to say that most people I know irl (my friends aren't into Hindi serials so it's usually me discussing these with my Mum's friends 😆 Long story, but I'm really close to them so yeah) all like Maya over Saanjh (If we're comparing). Now these people are 40-41 year olds (Mum and I have a very low age difference sooo yeah lmao) who are in no way Jennifer fans, I doubt if they've even seen any of her earlier works let alone be a fan - And they simply love Maya. So, the whole idea of "Jennifer fans are Maya fans" is pointless. People love Maya because she simply is t h e Maya Mehrotra.
As for her characteristics - I've said it before, but I'll say it again; it's because Maya knows no other way. She has taken control of her life after whatever incident happened years ago, and has, since then, been this harsh and controlling woman who has gotten everything she has being this way. She is emotionally scarred and believes she is incapable of loving - And when Arjun actually loved her back, she's clinging on to it however she can - and that however being this way that she has always been. You see where I'm going at?
As for her being a "murderer," there's a phrase called "innocent until proven guilty," so yes. If she's proven to be a murderer, that's when we start seeing her as one. For now, she is just mentally disturbed, and she was abused as a child, no matter what the cause - so all that has has an effect on however she is today. She is the easy suspect, but I'd expect a show like Beyhadh to build up more suspense than just reveal her as the murderer. And about the tattoo part - A little incident I'd like to mention - My best friend got a tattoo machine as a present and without absolutely any prior experience or knowledge, she tattooed a rose on her leg and it's still there - without any problems or infections or life threatening diseases lol. Arjun never refused to get the tattoo and he surely was enjoying the bittersweet pain of getting his love's name tattooed on his chest, which is what led to that sensuous scene.
And most importantly - Whatever Maya does, as a character, not as a human being or whatever - It's because she is supposed to be this way. It's what the show is all about. If anyone's expecting Maya to act all normal and mahaan then what's the point of the whole show... How do you expect to enjoy a show literally called "Beyhadh" if you constantly keep calling out the main lead's "Beyhadh-ness"?!
Now, coming to Saanjh. I said this before too - I used to like her at the beginning not because she was the sweet and kind girl-next-door, but because she seemed sensible. Sensibility, something that Arjun clearly lacked in the beginning. But slowly they took that away step-by-step, and Saanjh just became someone Arjun could walk all over and be as rude to as he wants to, and still expect her to be standing right there the next morning. I'll add a little story here too - I once really reaaalllyyy liked a best friend of mine. He used to tell me all about his day and I'd stay up until 5-6 AM sometimes, Skyping him (He moved to another country). We weren't best friends for years or since childhood or something, I just knew him from my school days and he was a senior too - and after we both left that school, we somehow became friends on Facebook and so on. One day, he told me he liked this model (an actual model from our country, one of the top ones too) and the way he kept going on about her... I realised he'd never seen me how he sees her, no matter how friendly he was to me or how much he cared for me. So I actually sat there and helped him be with her, even though I had heard that the girl usually makes her boyfriends do a lot of stuff for her; Not even making this up man, she was an actual pain in the a** but since he liked her so much, I sat quietly and let him be because if he had to learn a lesson, he'd have to learn it on its own as he was just like Arjun, stubborn and unaware of his surroundings. They got together and it killed me so much to watch his relationship status change, but it was what he wanted and I had to comply because or else I'd lose the friendship I had. They broke up, and I was the one he called and cried to and he even ended up telling me that he'd marry me someday if he never found anyone else lol 😆 But I knew that he still always saw me as a friend and the love he had for her, he'd never feel it for me because I was always just that girl he could vent to. Sorry about the long story 😆 He found someone else btw 😆
But basically, I'm not saying Saanjh has to be like me, but the least she can do is be supportive? And let Arjun go? Because even after all this, she is still doing all that dancing in her bedroom and acting all weird, for her own (and her family's, who do SO much for her) betterment she has to let go. It won't be easy but the least she can do is try? Putting on toothpaste(?!) as haldi when Arjun is getting married to someone else is not normal behaviour, sorry - And Saanjh is supposed to be normal, no? Maya isn't normal and we know that, but Saanjh is supposed to be, from the looks of it? Arjun has treated her like crap and expected her to be back there because she always has - I know their friendship is ages old but there's a limit to all this; especially since their arguments didn't happen before. The things he spits out sometimes, I know I'd never talk to him if he said any of that to me lol. She can easily find someone better - Jeetu was such a great guy but she completely overlooked his feelings and went on and on about Arjun. She has to think about the whole situation and not just about Arjun and her love for him, and not be Ayaan from ADHM because that clearly didn't end well.
And Vandana, oh God. I loved her so much, her love for Arjun was so nice and pure but now it's just getting annoying. Superstitions are well believed all over the world but secretly hoping for a wedding to be broken off on the day of it and even going to Saanjh and asking her to end it isn't nice, is it? I know she's afraid and all but come on, Maya being controlling is no new thing but Arjun is mad for her right now, if she does succeed in calling off the wedding (which she won't apparently, but still saying), what makes her think Arjun will so easily accept it? Being a protective mother is okay, but reacting this harshly due to some predictions really seems irrational for someone like Vandana.
These are just my views and people don't necessarily have to agree with them, but I've been reading things and just felt the need to say it out loud. That's all for now, sorry again for the long post! Hope y'all have a good day xx
