yes, I was thinking about the same today. They are even portraying a character as 'depressed' which is irrelevant to depressed character in real life and making everyone scared of depression. As I said in my previous post I had seen a depressed person closely and I know how helpless they feel, they are so innocent, we feel like crying looking at them.Originally posted by: luxmi_1029
The entire industry needs to wake up and be more aware and be held responsible for their portrayal of mental illness. Can we start a hashtag so the people of Beyhad notice that we are not happy with how they are depicting mental illness. For a show that is popular among the youth, and that too with a popular lead cast we can really make a difference.
The cast too, whenever they promote the show it is always about the suspense, twists and turns. I wish they would mention something positive about mental illness or mental health. We are living in a time when one of Bollywood's popular actor's, Deepika P has spoken up about her experience with depression. Why can't the TV industry catch up?

That's not the case here. The problem I felt Saanjh had was the fact that Maya was hiding all this from Arjun. Her hideous nature was what made Saanjh feel there is something more to it.
I agree that mental illnesses need to be shown in a healthier way. Trust me when I say this because I myself have suffered from depression in the past and am still struggling with PTSD amd Anxiety.Another problem is that many of us too make assumptions about depression. Depression is of many types and intensity. People do self harm in depression - I did and well, it becomes hard living with scars because of all the prejudice against people with mental illnesses.
