1. Victory in his voice, not like sugar, more like spice. She brought him back to the ground and that's when his mistakes he realised. She had promised, to never, like her mother be a fool. For she had an entire empire to rule. No matter where, no matter how, her own destiny she would write, never would a boy be responsible for the tears in her eyes. He lost it all, call it luck, deserving or fate, love turned out to be a game and she gave him check mate.

Shivers ran down Maya's spine, she gulped in fear. Her mind was swirling, all the moments she had spent with Arjun came back to her, all those happy moments just made her nauseous now. The time he got her ice cream in the middle of the night, how he helped her find solace at the terrace of his building, how they had spent hours chatting whilst drinking tea by the roadside, their Mauritius trip, all of it just couldn't have been a lie, Maya refused to believe it. Even if he was pretending, even if he did all of it keeping his purpose in mind, the love, the love she had seen in his eyes couldn't have been fake. She was just thinking of ways to save her marriage, which at the moment, was a hopeless case.

"Tum mujhe yaha kyu lekar aaye?" She demanded an explanation, it's the least she deserved, her mind still ticking faster than ever, trying to figure out a solution, for some reason she thought this was a situation she could solve.

"Marwane ke liye." He said bluntly, "Ab mujhe tumhari zaroorat nahi hai, mujhe jo chahietha, vo mil gaya." This was not the Arjun Sharma she had come to love, this was the frigid voice of the man who only looked for power in his life, Maya could easily recognize this side of Arjun as she had too, once upon a time been that kind of person, a person led by power.

"Aur vo kya tha? Mera pyaar, ya phir meri barbaadi? Kya dekhna chahtethe tum? Kaise Maya Mehrotra tumhare liye apne ghutno par girti hai?" Her expression was blank, not a single tear ran down her cheek, she seemed neutral to whatever was happening around her and Arjun was taken aback by this. For a second he feared his plan would back-fire, that he has messed with the wrong person, but he quickly recalled that he had all he wanted, nothing to fear now.

"Paisa, paisa chahietha mujhe aur vo mujhe mil gaya. Paisa aur power. Ab mere pas tumhari sari property hai, yahaan tak ki tumhari company bhi ab meri ho chuki hai."

It was time for her to set her feelings aside for a second and think. Think harder and find a solution. If she listened to her heart, she would let Arjun kill her that very second, nothing better than spending her last minutes with her loved one. But she wasn't so weak, she wasn't so vulnerable and she would get what she wanted under any circumstances. She had learnt in her eternal years of loneliness how to play games, and if that's what he asks for, that's what he would get.

"Tumhe abhi kuch nahi mila, shayad yahi tumhari galti hai, bahut jaldi hai tumhe. Good things take time Mr. Arjun Sharma. Shayad documents acche se pare nahi tumne sign karne se pehle. Shaadi ke bad, aur sirf shaadi ke bad tumhe mere paise aur property milegi. Rahi meri company ki baat 49% shares honge tumhare aur 51% shares honge mere. Tum hi batao, asli malik kaun hua? Yeh bhi likha tha un documents ki conditions mein ki agar mujhe kuch ho gaya, to poori ki poori transaction band. Shaadi ke baad bhi, meri maut ke waqt yeh sara khel khatam. Jitna bhi paagalpan ho mere pyaar mein, itni badi galti Maya Mehrotra kabhi kar hi nahi sakti." Maya reminisced the tragic time in her life, a time that made her take an oath, she promised to never be like Jhanvi, even if she was hopelessly in love, she would never allow her heart to overrule her mind and today, it seemed like the right decision. "Ab kaha bhagkar jaoge? Maine kaha tha tumse, yeh shadi kisi bhi haal mein hokar rahegi."

Arjun took a step back. Maya's hands and legs were still tied with rope, she couldn't move, the only thing he'd done was remove the cloth from around her mouth and even in that helpless position, he feared Maya. Of course he hadn't read the documents, he was supposedly trusting Maya and never in a million years he would have thought that Maya would do something of the sort. He was afraid, why would Maya still want to marry him? He recalled Saanjh's words, he remembered his Dusky telling him that Maya wasn't capable of love, that this was all a Mayajaal and when he finally found himself trapped in it, he longed for help. He wanted to get out of all of this. He wanted his Dusky, he suddenly began hating money and power within the span of a second, he wanted his mother's lap to cry on and he had lost it all in the gamble of love.

Hey guys! Here it is, I'm very sorry this isn't as good as the prologue/beginning. I hope the mini-poem I came up with at the beginning of then part makes up for it. I promise I'll try my best for the next chapter. Also, most likely from the next chapter this ff will be entirely in english, if you have any problems with the language, please let me know. Coming to the part, i liked the beginning one poem a lot.. Especially that checkmate line. And also that a boy will never be responsible for her tears. You go maya.. You write your own fate. Maya brain works so brightly that i m sure she can easily give arjun defeat in his own game.. Only she has to gather her broken heart and emerge strong.
Arjun can go and do ding dong with his dusky. Maya deserves better..
