SNEAK PEEK OF CHAPTER 3

3.You get what you give, at least that's what they say. Something that isn't believed by the ones who with heart play. He broke someone's heart, now someone will break his, Duffer still wonders - "What did I do to deserve this?" Dusky and Duffer, the dynamic duo, what happens when even she, turns out different that we see?

Saanjh took Arjun home while he stood in a dazed state, she rummaged through her purse and found the keys to her best friend's house. She cautiously opened the door and helped him walk in. Not even two seconds had passed and Arjun broke out in a furious rage. He started throwing things around. Windows shattered, a broken TV, he was just about to break a vase when Saanjh held his hand.

"No Dusky, don't stop me. Not today." He insisted, trying to free his hand from Saanjh's grip but her fingers remained there, firmly wrapped around his wrist. Saanjh forced Arjun to stand straight, untied his turban and forced some gulps of water down his throat. "My entire plan. I get nothing. Not even a single penny." He repented.

Saanjh's POV

Word after word that flowed from Arjun's lips angered me more by the second. The only thing he seems to care about is the fact that he didn't get any of Maya's money. I felt ashamed to call such a person my friend, my Duffer. My patience was running out and my temper began to flare. Rage boiled through I body. I barely had a chance to think of my actions, my only though being the need to shut him up. I pursed my lips and raised my hand. I threw my hand forward as hard as I could, whipping it across the idiot's face. The sound of skin coming in contact with skin echoed though the walls. Pain stung my palm and spread all the way to my fingertips. My palm was bright red, the same red mark on his face. Arjun stared at me with wide eyes and his hand made its way to his cheek. Yes duffer, I had the audacity to slap you, yes, me. I thought subconsciously.

I would have expected to feel some sort of remorse, regret, but I didn't. Not even one organ in my body could produce guilt for my actions. A triumphant grin spread across my face and with a flick of my hair, I whirled on my heel and marched away, only to encounter a shocked Vandana aunty at the doorstep looking at me in shock, I guess Arjun has a lot of explaining to do. I never looked back to see the mother-son duo watch me leave.

Back to Omnipresent Narrator's POV

"Dear Arjun,

You no longer remain a Duffer to me. If anything, I regret every second I ever second I spent with you. It's funny how I allowed my life to revolve around you, and now that I deleted all your memories, I have none left. You never knew what it was like to appreciate the time, effort and love one spends for you. I thought you took me for granted only because I was your Dusky, but you did the same to Maya. And for what? Her money? You're ridiculous. You have 24 hours to explain the situation to your family, the police will be at your doorstep tomorrow morning at 9AM to arrest you. The lawyer in me filed a case against you for attempt to theft, aggravated assault and larceny. I pleaded for you to have 24 hours. Your last 24 hours of freedom before your court trials begin and you spend part of your life behind bars. Since Maya left you at the altar, you don't need to undergo the trouble of divorce. I have contacted her. She will be showing up for the court sessions so you can expect to see her tomorrow. You said you loved me. You said you did it all for me. But let me tell you one thing Mr. Arjun Sharma, karma is a b*tch. You broke Maya's heart. I am not interested in you. I hope this breaks your heart because you deserve it.

A pained smile was plastered on Arjun's face. His dusky had left him, moreover she said she regretted being his friend. He would have usually thought a lollipop could convince Saanjh, but this time no such object could buy her happiness. He felt disoriented, purposeless without his Dusky and he knew he had lost her forever.

Just one more chapter to go and this FF will be over. It is indeed a Short Story. Hope you have enjoyed it!

Lovely update. Arjun is so evil that he has utilized both the girls i.e. Saanjh and Maya. The letter which was written to Arjun by Saanjh was awesome. Please continue.
