Had it been arjun who is behaving like maaya,it's appreciated those typical dialogues are taken as a mark of masculine hotness but what happens during maaya?
I agree still torturing her mom was insane, tortures she will give in future will be insane
But if kvb of saubhagyavati bhava who used to do domestic violence and raped jhanvi (his wife) and people still wanted those two to remain together what's up with people's perception about maaya?
It's not criticising rather I am curious to know
Why such gender bias usually
Is it presentation skills of cvs or people's traditional perception?

Traditional..i guess...
Yeah..me too gets frustrated..
To see this gender bias..
You have said it right if a man was in mayas place...people would go gaga over him..and would say look ..look how much he cares for her..see he is so in love with her..he would take anyone's lives for her...he is protective over her...etc etc..šŸ˜•
I think Indian audiences aren't used to see a female doing all these things..thats y..they said..a female being obsessive isn't a good idea..she will harm him..his family ..his friends..
Tell me if a girl is so Mahan then there is SaaS bahu..maaji gopi bahu..
..then y this show is needed.???..to change the the traditional idea..rite..
But tell me one thing...
Hero is so masculine.. and strong.. then how can a 50 kg heroine can hurt him..physically šŸ˜‰ šŸ˜†
But good that..you have brought up this topic..
Even I am curious to see thier..pov..lol..

There is no gender bias atleast not from my side. Even in Saubhagyavati bhava i hated KVB character and never wanted the leads together and as far as I know Sriti's character ended up with Harshad Chopda's character. So in the end they didn't give a bad message.

I never approve of the funda that getting a mentally ill married is the way to cure him / her. NEVER. Some diseases can't be cured with love only. Such marriages turn disasters. In real life too there are many guys with psychological disorders married to good girls by the guy's family in the hope of getting cured. Not only the marriage breaks after sometime, but the girl too suffers trauma.

A mental illness or a bad character (being a womaniser) etc is not a quality of hotness. May be there will be a few people who defends such characters FOR THE LOVE OF THE ACTOR. Even here many people defend Maya because they love Jenny. In SBVB, KVB fans defended him. But people who have the maturity level to differentiate between Actors and Characters don't do that.

My thinking goes like this "If I don't want to spend my life with a guy or girl like Maya or its male version (KVB character) who tortures you, why would I want the protoganist of the show to do that" Its never practical to cure a mentally ill person with love alone. You don't sacrifice other people for it.

Saying that, I completely sympathize with maya & her bad past. But as you said I don't find her madness hot or ship for her into a relation. Neither would I have done it if Arjun is a psycho.

I haven't watched the other show you mentioned. And even, if Arjun was the one to be possessive like this, I would still not want Maya or Saanjh to put up with it. In Maya's case, one can sympathise with her but a relationship involving her can work out if she gets professional help for herself and if she is able to come out of all this first before getting into the relationship.

I don't want Maya to end up with Arjun for the sole reason that it's unrealistic. A couple like Arjun and Maya would never be happy in real life. Maya isn't just jealous or possesive she is clearly obsessed. It has nothing to with her being a woman, I would still have the same opinion had it been Arjun.

i totally agree with u but yar itna gender inequality kyu when we all are talking about wonen empowerment &

i have to say last serial which i watched was Madhubala...& everyone appreciated RK dialogue & said how much he loves madhu

despite he ditched her at the alter & broke her heart then also we always said RK was right but now Maya hadn't done anything

& everyone had made assumption that she is physco ...i have to ask all the girls ke kya tum apne BF/Husband ke female friend se itne

closeness tolerate kroge welll tell me frankly...no koi nhi kr sakta h bolna bahut easy h but doubt humesha hoga

Umm..I think men's possessive behavior is just seen as natural and women's is taken as insanity.
Remember Maan, Arnav, Viraj, they were all appreciated my masses...I still remember this one dialouge from Maan in Geet hui sabse parayi. He said "Wear my shirt or else I will make you wear it." during their shimla trip thingy. Now, what do you get from this? He is forcing her to do something and threatening her as well. But we called it HOT. Maan was hot and all but I NEED a romantic person not an angry young man.

Arnav insulted Khushi all the way even after they got married. But when he felt like love, he forced Khushi to accept him as well. Remember "Main apko apna pati nahi manti" and he said "Nahi manti to hum manva lenge". This was called HOT as well. Arnav was all cool and everything but I cant stay with a person who cant even say "I love you". šŸ˜•

Viraj was pure evil man. He tortured her but his obsession was named love. Everyone was showering sympathy on his, "oh! he has OCD, he needs treatment", "oh! he had a rough childhood" even though we were never shown his childhood. I mean he was sexy ā˜ŗļø but sexy doesnt mean I am ready to get beaten by a belt. šŸ˜†

Basically, I loved all three of them but cant stay with even one of them. Same thing with Maya, love her but dur se...šŸ˜†

We simply associate manhood with obsession, protection, security and womanhood with love, sacrifice and mamta šŸ˜†.

Can you imagine maya holding arjun in her arms looking in his eyes and saying "You are not staying with Saanjh, come with me right now or else I am gonna carry you out". Not possible but if Arjun does this to Maya, everyone will be like ā¤ļø
