It was unusually silent, or perhaps, she was too oblivious of her surroundings.A cool breeze brushed her face, ruffling her hair as she sat quietly on the beach, staring at the line of luminosity the moon made on the water.
It is undeniable that nothing could be more splendid than this but, for the first time she could not take in its beauty , it's splendor.
Her eye balls made no motion but still two crystals rolled down her cheeks and landed on her lap. " I'll always be there for you, my love" his words echoed in her ears, all those moments spent together still fresh in her mind. He had became her habit and now when he has left her alone forever, she was torn between holding on to what he had promised , and accepting the reality of him not being able to deliver.
The sight of his deceased body, covered with blood stains, haunted her every second. She smiled ruefuly as the irony of the situation struck her hard. The colour that once used to adorn her hair partition
and made her feel complete has now become the cause of her misery and loneliness.
As the waves slightly brushed against her feet ,she could feel something swell inside her, reminiscing that he had fulfilled the vow made to his countrymen. He was a brave man who did not shrink from making any sacrifice to gaurd and protect every inch of his beloved motherland and even the people he doesn't know.
She finally gazes at her lap and stares at the photo frame placed there, " I love you , and I am proud of you Major Saahab" she said as muted cries escaped her mouth as she weeped and weeped in sheer pain.

PS- When I saw Major Vibhuti Dhaundiyal's wife on TV dealing with the loss I couldn't stop my tears.
I wanted to write something on this feeling and that's why I came up with this Drabble. It is a tribute to all the martyrs from my side
