The confidence flowing through her body once again, Divya shook her head and smiled. "I have to."
Concern and reluctancy filled his eyes. "Par kyun?"
"Because...", she whispered, standing on her toes, and pausing for a moment. She pecked him lightly on the cheek, and walked away, leaving Sagar to stand there in the park and gather his thoughts.
-------------------------------------------
Divya sat on the bench with her friend, only half-listening to what she had to say... her mind was too pre-occupied with other pressing matters. Her friend suddenly shook her shoulder, stirring her out of her reverie. "Divya? Tum ho kahaan?"
Divya laughed. "Hey, sorry... bas khoyi hoon dhimaag mein...." Her friend shook her head and kept on talking, but Divya started to tune her out; trivial talk was not what she needed right now.
She wished she could easily forget what happened yesterday, to think that she never did what she did... but it was too hard to forget. Divya couldn't deny that what she had done was out of her own will... and that she had to admit. She did it because she wanted to - because she definitely felt something when she was Sagar, yet couldn't reciprocate her feelings the same way he could. He was so much more open, so unabashed... so unlike her. Yet still, she was drawn to him... she sighed, wondering if she would see him again today.
"Excuse me, could you get up from the bench, please?"
Divya looked up and gasped; Sagar stood in front of them, a slight smile widening across his face.
Her friend looked at her confusedly for a moment, then turned back to respond. "Sorry, par main yahaan par bait rahi hoon."
"... Aap samjhi nahin. This place has already been reserved for me."
Divya gaped at him.
Her friend's look of puzzlement changed into suspicion. "... Seriously?", she muttered. "Who reserved it?"
"Divya," he responded promptly.
Divya's eyes widened; what was he doing? "Sagar --" she mumbled.
Her friend stood up, now clearly annoyed. "Whatever. Divya, main tumse baad mein baat karoongi."
Sagar continued to smile, evidently proud of himself for his triumph. "Thanks... you see, I always have a place reserved next to Divya... no matter where she is."
Raising her eyebrows, Divya's friend left in a hurry, clearly wanting to leave the scene. Sagar took this opportunity and promptly sat down on the bench next to Divya, who continued to gape at him.
"Sagar, woh sab kya tha? And how do you know I reserved this seat for you? What if I didnt --"
"You did."
"Lekhin tum... how can you say that so confidently?"
"Who else would you reserve it for?"
Divya was left without a response, speechless.
Sagar turned to look at her, his eyes now serious and concerned. "Pehle batao ki tumne kal itni jaldi se kyun chali gayi... mujhse door."
Divya blushed. "Mujhe bas... jaana tha."
"Aur woh kya tha?" He smiled slightly, tracing the side of her cheek with his finger.
Divya felt a sudden shiver down her spine. She knew what 'that' was... apparently, he didn't forget what had happened before she left yesterday either. "Sagar..."
"Kya?"
"Sab logh dekh rahe hain." She turned away from him to look around the park, and to her dismay, she was wrong; it was deserted now, no traces of her friends or anyone.
"Who? There's no one here now... bas tum, aur main." He placed her hand in his absent-mindedly, but it didn't stay like that for long; Divya stood up once again, evidently getting ready to walk away from him... again.
Irritation suddenly filled his voice. "Hamesha mujhse door kyun jaana chahti ho?"
Divya turned around and pulled her hand away from his, immediately wishing she hadn't. "Aisi baat nahin hai, Sagar."
"Toh phir kya baat hai, Divya?"
Divya continued to look him, guilt overriding her mind. Why was she leaving? She knew she couldn't run away from him, run away from her feelings... she had to stop herself.
He shook his head slightly, his eyes full of bitterness, and a sense of pleading. "Don't go."
Grrr... so, I definitely had this picturised slightly differently in my mind, I'm not sure if I wrote it the way I wanted to. There are certain things in the scene that I wanted to portray with the dialogues, with how I was feeling and imagining it... I just hope that gets through to all of you as well; hopefully, I wrote it clearly enough.😳 I know the "bas tum, aur main" part is really filmy, but didn't have anything else to say :P I apologise for the ending, had to rush off so I had to end it like this, sorry!
