Trapped Bird – Part Thirteen
(He..e..e..e...La.la...Resham si hawaaein sanam...aao zarra paas aaye sanam...jaage jaage armaan..jaage jaage hum...oh jaane do ab toh faasle to kuch toh kam..)
He then hoisted himself up a bit, so he could get a closer look at her...She was beautiful no doubt, her eyes sparkled whenever she was anxious or excited, and her lips quivered whenever he got closer to her...He looked into her eyes..and moved slightly closer...She looked into his eyes too and drowned inside of them..it was as if his eyes invited her to another world that left this world behind! Her heart plumetted inside of her, yet she tried to control her rapid breathing...He then used the floor as support, and hoisted himself up, and pulled her up...She felt her heart sink, yet cursed herself for feeling that way...
The sudden pressure on her leg unleashed an even acute pain in her ankle...so much that the pain in her ankle reached her face and spilled out through her eyes.."aaah" she shrieked...He looked at her in genuine worry, and chided himself for being so careless...He instantly then knelt slightly, and carried her in his arms...And sat her on her bed...touching the bandage on her ankle ever so lightly trying to alleviate the pain...He peeked a glance at her...tears rolled down her face...and at that time, he thought of her as a little child..."I'm so sorry Vidi...I didn't mean to seriously.." Vidi sniffed and sweeped off tears from her face, and with a small smile said "No, don't blame yourself, you didn't do on purpose..." And then on second thought, with a pretentious suspicion twinkling in her eyes she said "Or did you do it on purpose?" He looked into her face.. "Of course not...I may seem to be a mean guy...but I'm not so bad" The color of embarassment coloring her cheeks, she quickly said "Oh no, I didn't mean it that way...so tell me why did you come here at this time of the night?" And then went on to quickly add "No, no, I don't mean to say you're not welcome." Now it was his cheeks that turned crimson red this time..He looked away from her and stood up, and hands plucked in his jean pockets, he said "Uh..uh..I came to see how you were feeling..." Vidya scrunched her face.. "I am not sick" Sagar attempted a smile to force down his stuttering..."I meant..your..your ankle..you got hurt pretty bad back in the forest.." Vidya alloweed herself to invite a delightful smile to her lips...and took off a rubber band from her wrist, and began playing with it..."You don't need to worry, it's ok now.." Sagar turned to face her and with a smile said "It's ok? Oh really?" Vidya smiled shyly...
After that conversation, a two second silence overcame them..in which Sagar's roguish attitude churned inside of him...He took an ephemeral look at Vidya's room...and then plopped down on her bed..Startling her out of her second long thoughts...Her heart sinked in embarassing shock, as he lifted up the novel she was reading a while ago..."give me that.." Vidya tried to snatch the book from his hands unsuccessfully, as he lifted the book hign and low..."The Notebook..hmmm...so you read these kind of books? And I thought you were so simple and plain.." With that statement, Vidya's next words hung mid air, as her mouth hung open for a quarter second in anger.."What do you mean? And give me my book.." she whined angrily...Vidya tried her best to snatch the book from his grip, but was paralyzed by the throbbing pain in her ankle that did not allow her to move freely..." Biting her lips slightly, Vidya ran her fingers through her silky black hair...caught Sagar's eye and winked at him...for half a second, it distracted Sagar enough for her to manage to grip the corner of the book, as both struggled to take the book, it flew out of their hands, and fell onto the center of the bed...Sagar let out a small yell 'You cheater"At the same time they both reached for the book...but their hands found each other instead...The slight touch sent shivers down their spines...as they looked at one another drawn to each other like magnets...but a little later, as if just burnt by hot fire rods, they disentangled their hands from each other...as the awareness of their own feelings fought with their minds...They both sat up awkwardly and Sagar stood up..."I should go now it's getting pretty late.." Vidya looked up and nodded "uh yah bye" As if his tongue was tied...Sagar mumbled a faint bye and descened down the ladder as silent as the night...
That same night Vidya lay down on her bed...letting her ankle relax beneath the softness of her blanket, but who said if the exteriors of a person were relaxed, the interiors were too? Her body may be enjoying relaxation, and her ankle may have stopped releasing as much pain as it did in the afternoon, but her mind was enveloped by a thousand questions and thoughts..her mind had become a war zone between her conscious instincts, irrepressible feelings and her mind which riduculed her instincts...The three inner conversations going on in her head muddled up inside of her mind in the end distressing her even more... It was going to be one long sleepless night for her...
Sagar too was in no jovial mood either...Although he was surrounded by loud, vigorous music, chattering people and delicious food, which he usualy enjoyed, he was distressed...He had always been a person who enjoyed parties to the hilt...flirting with beautiful girls and the consumption of alcohol him always managed to prod the zeal inside of him...but today was different...He bit his lips in anger everytime a thought of Vidya's came to his mind, or an image of her appeared in his heart...He sat in annoyment on a bar stool drinking alcohol in shimmering glasses...one after the other...as if he wasn't drinking liquor but obliterating Vidya's thoughts from his psyche and heart...
After an hour now fully drunk, He irritatedly tried to block out the song playing in the pub from his ears"kyun aaj kal neend kam khaab zyaada hain...lagtha kuda ka koi nek iraada hain..kal tha fakir aaj dil shezada hain..kya mujhe pyaar hain....kaisa sa kumar hain.." He then grabbed his jacket, and drunkenly wobbled towards the door, and almost fell flat on his face, when a strong hand supported him...With half closed eyes Sagar looked up at the man's face in confusion...and then recogniton slowly striked him, as his vision cleared a little bit..."you" The man forcefully stabled Sagar, and sat him on a nearby chair..and with genuine concern reflected on his face he said "What have you done to yourself Sagar? Why don't you stop all this partying and concentrate on our family business?" Sagar in half consciosness rubs his eyes sloppily.and says..."Karthik"

Preview: I will not write a preview, because my imagination is too unpredictable to be believed the next time I sit down to write the next part! Okay, so my imaginition currently informs me of an idea to have a love triangle..but we'll see I bet when I write the next part tomorrow or Thursday, it will drastically change!
