Vidya was taken by surprise when she found herself pinned down to the floor. She tried to move but Sagar was strong as a bull and would not allow her to move. She gave up trying to move and screamed in frustration as she looked up at him.
Sagar laughed as he saw the look on Vidya's face. The look of defeat didn't suit Vidya's face, he thought. She was breathless as she looked up at him. He saw the rage in her eyes. She looked ready to attack but seemed caged. She looked so beautiful, with her face only inches apart from his and her body was captive under his. So much for preventing opportunities, he thought as he had an urge to move a hand to fix her messed up hair. But he knew very well that if he freed one of her arms he would get a punch. And he was getting tired of being elbowed or punched. He fought the urge to fix her hair and instead lowered his head and rested it on her shoulder. The curve of her shoulder was so peaceful. Sagar found himself getting lost in an unknown world.
Vidya was caught by surprise yet again. The rage in her eyes disappeared as she felt Sagar turn his head to bury his face in her hair. She could feel his lips on her neck but they didn't move. She thought he would kiss her but he didn't. Instead he lay there with his face pressed to her neck.
Sagar felt Vidya's heartbeat increase. His response was a simple chuckle. He smelled her hair and whispered "What are you doing to me, Vidya? I feel like I am losing my sense…" as he continued his grip loosened on Vidya's arms, that was all Vidya needed. She quickly moved and shifted their positions. Sagar now found himself tackled as Vidya sat up on him with one hand grabbing his shirt and the other in a fist that came directly towards his face but stopped only inches away.
He looked at her fist first and then towards her face. She looked like a warrior ready to win her battle. A very sexy warrior, he thought to himself as he took a better look at her. He laughed and said "I never thought defeat would be so sweet, Vidya"
Vidya brought her fist back and moved and sat beside him. What was he talking about? She asked herself. She didn't do anything to him and which sense was he losing.
Sagar sat up beside her. "You cannot open my presents." Vidya shot him a daring look and Sagar knew that if she wanted to open those presents there was nobody who could stop her. Sagar laughed and asked "Is there anything else you would like fight about? I enjoyed getting tackled by you" Vidya saw the grin on his face and replied "No! But why don't you open the presents from Suraj. The poor thing must be heartbroken that you don't open his presents." Sagar shook his head. Vidya hadn't even met him yet and like everyone else she was taking Suraj's side. Sagar looked directly at her as the grin from his face vanished and replied "Because he has a habit of taking away everything that I truly love. Most of the time he doesn't even know he is doing it and yet he possesses everything I truly love."
Vidya rolled her eyes. "It's not his fault. Your mother and father made those decisions. Suraj had nothing to do with that…" Before she could go on Sagar stopped her and said "Just because you are staying in his room doesn't mean you know him and should take his side."
Vidya shrugged and said "Hey! I was in your room first. You sent me away now don't blame me. You had your chance and you blew it." Sagar grinned and asked "What kind of chances are we talking about, Vidya?"
Vidya blushed seeing the look on Sagar's face. She had never had the opportunity to engage in flirting before but she was sure this was it. Sagar was flirting with her. Just the thought gave Vidya a thousand butterflies in her stomach. She didn't know how to reply to Sagar so she simply gave him a shrug and said "I don't know!"
Sagar again laughed and moving a little closer to her said "So if I were to invite you back to my room, would you come?" Vidya gave him a confused look and asked "What for?" Sagar smiled as he scratched his head. She was clueless and adorable at the same time. He would have to pick his words carefully. He realized that he would probably mess things up if he said anything about what was going through his mind. Rather, he would wait until Vidya completed the job she was there for and then he would tell her what she was doing t her. He shook his head and said "Nothing" as he got up from the floor and decided to go back to his room.
Vidya saw him leaving and then looked towards the TV which still played the scary movie she was watching and called out to Sagar. He turned his head and saw her standing up now. Sagar stood at the same spot as he shoved his hands in the pockets of his sweatpants and asked "What is it?" Vidya didn't want to tell him that she was scared of being in the room all alone. Instead she made up a lie and said "I am hungry. Can you ask one of your maids to make me something?" She knew that there were no maids in the house at the current hour. Sagar smiled and said "Sorry. Kitchen is closed," as he got ready to walk away again. But Vidya was not going to let him go that easily. "Can you show me where the kitchen is then? I can make something for myself."
That didn't seem like a hard task so Sagar agreed. Vidya smiled as she walked behind him to the kitchen. Sagar switched on the lights and Vidya saw the big fridges and huge countertops with matching cabinets. It was a dream kitchen. Sagar after turning on the lights said "here you are. Enjoy" as he turned to walk away from the kitchen. But just as he thought Vidya called out to him again, Sagar smiled as he turned around and looked at her "I know you are not hungry, Vidya. It is okay to admit that you are scared to be alone."
Vidya looked embarrassed. "Okay fine! I am scared to be alone. It's your fault for having such a big house." Sagar smiled as he leaned against the counter "I have an idea of what we could do while you are scared to be alone by yourself. I doubt you are going to sleep." Vidya in confusion asked "What?" Sagar grabbed her by her arm and started walking. Vidya walked behind him as she had no idea where he was taking her. The next thing she knew she was standing in his room. He went and turned on his notebook and turning it towards her said "Ballroom dancing lessons!"
Vidya saw Sagar getting ready to play the music and then he walked towards her. Vidya heard the boring music and wondered how long it would take her to learn the steps.
Sagar grabbed Vidya's left hand and put it on his right shoulder. He then grabbed her right hand in his left hand and brought his hand up to their face levels. Vidya raised a brow at the foolish dance. But she fought back a sigh when he brought his right hand and put it on her waist and then ran it up her back until his arm was almost touching her under arm. Vidya felt a little uncomfortable as his arm was also touching her chest. She blushed as she looked at him and asked "Are you sure your arm is supposed to be this high?" Sagar saw Vidya looking towards his arm and smiled and said "Yeah. It is supposed to be this high. Ballroom dancing is for the ones in love. So they don't mind if they get too cozy." Vidya eased back and said "well, make sure you don't get too cozy." Sagar smiled as he tightened his grip on her and brought her closer so she bumped into him. He smiled at the blush on her cheeks and said "why? Are you scared you might like it, Vidya?" Yes, she would love it but that was the problem. She was there to complete a job and mixing business with pleasure was never a good idea, according to all the movies she watched. And getting involved with a person like Sagar was way more than she could afford. She was also aware that his definition of involvement would be very different from hers. But what was she thinking, she reminded herself. A guy like him could never be interested in a girl like her. All this flirting and teasing was because he enjoyed the tension he caused her. It couldn't possibly be because he was into her. Why couldn't he be into her? She asked herself. Was it too much to ask if she wanted Sagar to like her? She was busy in her thoughts when she heard Sagar.
He saw her lost in her thoughts and wondered what was going through her mind. "Are you okay, Vidya? If you don't want to learn the dancing tonight, it can wait till the morning."
She shook her head. "No. It's not that. I was wondering if there was a way to exclude the dancing from the whole plan."
"I don't think that is possible."
Vidya raised a brow. "It could be made possibe. You are a rich…," murgha, she wanted to add, "You are a rich guy. You don't know how to plan these things." She stepped back bringing herself out of his arms. "Now tell me. Is the exhibition of queen's jewelry before the dancing starts or afterwards?"
"Before," he replied but failed to understand what it had to do with the whole plan.
"Perfect!" Vidya shot back. "Then there is no need for me to learn the dancing. I can just take the necklace at the exhibition and we can leave by the time the dancing starts.
Sagar raised a brow. "Exactly how do you plan to steal a necklace in a room filled with people?"
Vidya sat on Sagar's bed and crossed her legs and while grinning said "I stole your watch twice from you. Did you notice? It is my profession. I am really good at what I do." Sagar walked towards her and sat beside her and thought, she was really good at doing her job. But would it be smart to trust her on this and let her go for it in front of everyone. He looked towards her and asked, "I am not bailing you out if you get caught."
Vidya smiled. "I won't get caught. Even if I do, I know how to find my escapes. You just pull the damsel in distress card and people fall for it. They find it hard to believe that a girl like me could actually steal. Few fake tears here and there and everyone's hearts melt. And if I am going to be in a gown it is going to be harder for them to believe that I could actually steal."
Sagar dropped back on his bed as Vidya still sat at the same spot beside him. He smiled and realized that it would be hard for people to believe. Alright, he decided he would trust her. "Okay, Vidya! We can do it your way." Vidya smiled and turned towards him and brought her legs on bed and sitting on them said "Great! Now with the time we saved by eliminating ballroom dancing you can show me around. After all, it is my first time here." Sagar thought it through. Going out with Vidya and showing her around. It sounded like a date to him. He smiled and said "That sounds good. I think it might be fun." He sat up now and grabbed his notebook to put it back on his desk. Just when he put the computer down Vidya said his name. Sagar without looking back said "hmm?"
Vidya struggled with her words first and then took a deep breath and said "Can I sleep in here tonight?"
Sagar immediately brought his head up and wondered if he was imagining things. He looked back towards Vidya as she still sat on his bed and said "Excuse me?"
