Vidya started to suspect that something was not right with Sagar's plan. Buying her heels, what could that possibly do to help her steal the necklace. She suddenly lost her appetite at the mention of heels and looked towards Sagar as he was enjoying his meal. She grabbed her glass, "Why would you buy me heels?" Sagar sat back on his chair, "It is all part of the plan, and heels will come in handy. Trust me!" Vidya raised a brow at the strange sentence and smirked still holding on to her glass. "Yeah, good luck with getting me into heels. It's worse than trying to get me into a sari." The thought of her in a sari, for some reason, Sagar did not find that particularly funny as he saw Vidya laughing.
"I think you would look cute in a sari." Vidya stopped as she was about to take a sip from her glass and looked towards Sagar. He looked pretty serious about his comment. She laughed. "Yeah, that is never going to happen. I am never going to wear a sari." He simply smiled looking towards her. "I am not asking you to wear a sari. I just think you would look cute. And maybe you should grow your hair longer and let them down once in awhile. I have never seen you wear your hair down." Vidya was in a complete shock. How could a man just make her angry few minutes ago and then have her drooling over him in the next. She cleared her mind as she tried her best to hide her blushing cheeks. She cleared her throat to make sure that her voice won't shake when she spoke. "So, what exactly do heels have to do with stealing a necklace?" He got up from his chair and walking towards the door said, "How about we discuss our plan."
Vidya looked around to see the big room that they were in now. It looked more like a hall; the walls had bookshelves that were filled with probably thousands of books. The furniture was antique and gorgeous. And her favorite part was the fire place; it looked beautiful as the fire burned in the semi dark room. When Sagar brightened the lights she saw an empty wall in front of them and wondered why would there be only one wall that would be empty while all the others were occupied with something. Sagar went up to one of the shelves and took out something very shiny. Vidya's eyes widened and her jaw dropped as she saw Sagar walk back towards her with a beautiful diamond necklace in his hands. Vidya just stared because she was in complete awe at the beautiful necklace in front of her. Sagar saw her expression and laughed, "It's not real. It's a replica of the one you are going to steal." Vidya looked confused as she shifted her eyes from the necklace to Sagar's face. Vidya had so many questions and Sagar noticed that. "You want to know how you are going to steal it, don't you."
"Yeah, that would be nice," she said as she grabbed the necklace out of his hands and sat on the nearest couch. Sagar came and sat right next to her making Vidya a little uncomfortable, because she could smell his cologne and by God he smelled great. Vidya felt her heart beat increase as she cleared her head reminding herself of the fact that Sagar was off limits.
Sagar rested his back against the couch. "There is a ball in few days, it is held every year on the former queen's birthday. They showcase her belongings and people dance to her favorite music all night long." Vidya looked at him still confused, but that did not stop him from explaining. "It is for couples only. Ball dancing, it is a lot of fun, which you are going to have to learn in few days." Vidya stood up in shock as her jaw dropped once again. "Ball dancing? You said nothing about that. The deal was to steal the necklace…"
Sagar interrupted before she could go on. "I am telling you now. It won't be that hard to learn." Vidya dropped the necklace at him as he caught it. "So I am not only going to have to learn to walk in heels I am also going to have to dance in them." Sagar admired the beauty of the necklace and said "Pretty much. Look at it this way; you will get a free make over."
Vidya planted her hands on her hips and being angry at him asked. "How exactly am I going to steal a necklace in a room full of people who happen to be ball dancing freaks?" She was thinking ahead, a quality he admired in a woman. "That is where your memory comes in. They will have the necklace on display and when they put the necklace back, most of the time the women are busy ogling it. So they won't have a problem with you standing there. You are to memorize the code and then sneak into where the safe is and make the switch. They will never know the original is missing, unless they have experts look at it." Pretty clever, Vidya thought. She was a thief, this is what she did. This job was no different, she was going to steal that necklace and she was going to have fun holding that expensive diamond necklace in her hands. She was thinking to herself when Sagar grabbed a remote and pressed a button and the wall that was empty slid open and there was big screen TV with so many DVD's and games around it. Sagar saw her staring and smiled as he asked. "Do you like video games, Vidya?" She bit her tongue as she walked closer to look at all the games as Sagar grabbed the game controllers. Vidya smiled and replied. "Yeah, Rohit has an Xbox. He lets me play sometimes." Sagar smiled as he patted the couch space beside him and said "Let's see how good you are." Vidya rolled her eyes as she came and sat next to him and grabbed one of the remotes out his hands. "Rohit… is he your boyfriend?" he asked bluntly. Vidya let out a laugh, "No, he is just a friend. He is a really nice guy." Sagar stared at the TV as he waited for the game to load and smiling said "He is into you." Vidya's jaw once again dropped as she couldn't believe Sagar's guts. "And how do you know that? You don't even know Rohit."
"Isn't he the guy who bought you pani puri about a week or so ago off that street market?" Vidya looked shocked again as she tried to figure out how Sagar could know about that. She shook her head as she figured that he might have been spying on her around that time. She wanted to hit him but didn't and tightened her grip on the remote. "Yeah, that is him. And it is not cool spying on people, you know. He was just buying me pani puri because he is a nice friend. That's it." Sagar laughed as he got up to pick out one of the games that he would like to play and said "Trust me. The way he was looking at you when you were enjoying the pani puri, I would bet you a large amount of money that the man is interested in you." Vidya also got up to go join him as he was busy searching for a video game. She thought about the possibility. Could Rohit really be into her? He had never said a thing and she certainly never felt about Rohit that way. But she was going to have to confront Rohit about this when she got back. She immediately stopped thinking as her eyes landed on a familiar game. She extended her hand to grab the game when Sagar noticed and told her to stop. Vidya turned her head in surprise and asked why they couldn't play that game. Sagar grabbed one of the games and put it in the Xbox saying, "because that side belongs to Suraj." Sagar walked back to the couch and sat down as the game started. Suraj, an interesting name, Vidya thought as she walked back and sat next to Sagar. She wondered if Sagar would answer her questions if she asked. She decided to go ahead and asked. "Who is Suraj?"
"The person whose room you took over."
That could be considered and answer but not the answer Vidya was looking for. "Is he your friend?" Sagar shook his head, "No, he would be my brother." Vidya raised a brow in amusement. If Sagar had eyes as deep as the ocean, she wondered if Suraj would have eyes as bright as the sun. She giggled and said "Sagar and Suraj, cool names!" Sagar smiled as he looked towards her, "Thank you. And you might want to pay attention to the game, you are losing pretty badly." Vidya looked towards the TV and then angrily said "Cheater! You didn't tell me the game started."
After the embarrassing defeat in the first round, Vidya did not want to go for a next round. But she figured if she wanted to know more about Sagar she was going to have to play her cards right. She continued playing and then started with her questions again. "So this Suraj, your brother, does he live here?" Sagar was busy with the game and kept the conversation going. "No, this is a vocation home so he has as much right to be here as I do, whenever he pleases." So she won't get to meet him, Vidya thought. "Brothers are cool! Chinu is the best brother. Are you close with your brother?" Sagar turned his head and had an angry look on his face and said "No, we are not close at all. I kind of hate him." Vidya didn't believe that, it couldn't be possible. "Why would you hate your own brother?" she asked. Sagar realized that he did not have to reply but a part of him liked the fact that someone was interested in what he had to say and what he felt. "Because he has always had what I have yearned for all my life." Vidya thought about the ring that she found under the pillow and wondered if a girl was the cause of the hate between the brothers. Sagar shook his head as he tried his very best to hide his grief, "He is a year younger than me. When I was five my parents split and like their property, they divided us. Since he was younger, he went with mom and I was left with dad. Whenever Suraj got hurt he was given the comfort of a mothers' love but when I got hurt I was simply bought the most expensive toy. Dad never really cared about showing affection. He believes money buys happiness, so I have access to all this money to make me happy. I met my mother once a year the whole time I was growing up because my dad didn't approve my meetings with her." Vidya was in shock as she kept staring at Sagar. There was so much more to him than she thought.
