Raj Mahiyavanshi excused himself from the meeting to answer the call, ha bolo Pinakin….

Madho waited for Hiten's reactions as he inspected the stone and his day's work. Bahut khub papa, very nice, where did Raj get this from.

Hiten looked up, papa aisa kaise chalega….you have not told him, with the recession the market is hit, log pahele khayenge tabh na jakar heera kharidenge, we need to diversify in order to survive…..

Madho sighed I know beta but I do not know anything else, this is what all I know…..If we diversify at all to what….

Madho Solanki nodded his head, he is not sure, this is not the way he would like to do business but maybe this is the way nowadays people do business, he is too old to understand it….beta I have invited Raj for Deep's engagement. He said he will come if he is in town, he will pickup the stone if it is ready by then, if he comes you speak to him then…..

Raj was indeed very excited about the 'diamond'. The voice was a clear winner, not only it was flawless but was full of emotions….Madho Solanki's mobile was switched off, most probably the man was busy with the stone, today he is required to go back to Mumbai…his plane was waiting for him to arrive, the pilot informed him about the time slot, Raj put back his mobile in his pocket….he felt the card, he took it out…..Deepabali Solanki was getting engaged with Shekhar Desai….he has to make it to the engagement….speak to the girl himself…nowadays even married girls are pursuing their career….

Madho Solanki watched his daughter excited for the first time, she was speaking on the top of her voice, Papa, Shekhar ka chehra dekne layek tha, he was so happy soooo happy, kuch der tak toh baat hi nehi kar saka…then he thanked me again and again, saying without you it would not have been possible…..

Kash Shekhar ke saath tu bhi participate karti Deep. Judges se kehti jointly hi sun lijiye…..I am sure the judges would have selected you, hamare khushi do guna ho jata tabh….Gauri commented…

Deep's face became red, she gritted her teeth, papa mai change karke ati hu, she got up…

Madho Solanki sighed, Gauri was not wrong, a bit blunt but right, she said what he always dreamed about with his wife Subhadra….

His late wife Subhadra was a good singer. Infact after hearing her in one of the functions, he wanted to get married to her. She did not belong to his caste and there was a huge hue and cry. Anyway they eloped and got married, much to their families distress and needless to say they were outcasted promptly. He moved from Surat to Ahmedabad and started his married life. They struggled very much in the beginning, while he tried to set up his diamond cutting business, the family profession, Subhadra taught young children to sing, it was with her money they lived while he tried to get his foothold gradually he got work and started making name. After three years of marriage, Hiten was born and they rented a bigger house with an extra room for his workshop. By the time Deep was born seven years later, he had brought this land and taken up a new place for his workshop. Madho Solanki had a happy life , wife two children a brand new bungalow and a modern workshop. Deep was about 10 years old and she was participating in the school annual function. She loved to sing like her mother and Madho often said his daughter's voice is even sweeter than his wife's. Shubhadra was supposed to come to his workshop and they were to leave for Deep's school together. He was waiting for Shubhadra to arrive but then fate had something else stored for him. Deep was excited as for the first time she was the lead singer, making way inspite of other seniors , she could not wait for her parents to arrive. Before she got on to the stage, people from her father's workshop came with her brother, to be taken to the hospital…her mother was hit while she was crossing the road…Madho Solanki was at a loss, Subhadra was his life support but then he could not mourn her for long, Deep was deeply affected…for the sake of his children Madho Solanki somehow got control over his life, he got up early, worked from home, made Deep ready for school, dropped her, went to his workshop, picked her up after school, took her for tuitions and singing lessons which was the toughest as Deep refused to sing but Madho Solanki did not give up….slowly Deep learnt but till today she does not sing publicly or for any functions. She has got a terrible stage fright. Incase the school wanted to use her voice they recorded earlier. Many of her teachers have asked him to do something but Madho Solanki had also given up. Somehow he felt that he has kept his promise to Subhadra to train Deep as a singer, rest it is upto Deep, he will not interfere any more, he wanted her to be happy, he has suffered, the children have been deprived of their mother's love , he hoped their lives would be joyous.

During dinner, Hiten congratulated Deep for Shekhar's selection in the Indian Idol….

Ha bhaiya, this is just the initial stage but Shekhar is happy, so I am, only think we have to speak to Hetal's father, Shekhar needs leave from office. Hiten looked at his father, who was busy chewing his food….

Deep, I am sure Papa will put in a word but then I mean Shekhar is still in his probation, tumhara engagement bhi hai , date nikalne ke baad shaadi bhi jo jayegi, I mean does Shekhar still want to go….

Of course yes, Shekhar's primary interest is in music bhaiyya, you have seen his rehearsing here for hours together….

Hiten looks at Gauri, Gauri was signalling something…..Hiten looks at his father, who was unusually quiet….they were nearly through….

Papa I wanted to say something…..Hiten hesitated….

Papa you know things are difficult with the recession setting in, while we decide to diversify, Gauri has got a wonderful idea…..

Papa, 10 days from now Deep is getting engaged, I think since Shekhar depends on her so much, they should get married before Shekhar has to leave for Mumbai, Deep can help him to rehearse…..

Yes Bhaiyya not a bad idea, I think I will have to convince Shekhu for that first…..

Papa, Gauri was thinking of starting B&B, with Deep gone, we will shift downstairs, in the spare bedroom next to yours. Hemu still sleeps in our bedroom, so he will stay with us…..and renovate the two bedrooms upstairs and start a B&B…meaning Bed & Breakfast…saradin toh Gauri ghar me hi rehti hai, she will look after the guests…..

Aur mera karma, you mean to say I won't have bedroom here in this house…..

Deepu, we will do it after your marriage and once you are married, you will stay with Shekhar, he belongs to the city only. And anyway this is a temporary arrangement, till Hemu is small, once he grows up we need room for him too….

Deep looks at her father, gets up and runs to her room….

Madho Solanki nods his head, Hiten why did you have to bring up the subject now…could have waited till Deep got married….

Papa please bura math maniye, dekhiye all my friends are helping their husbands in some way or the other, I just wanted to contribute…

No bahu, I understand but you know Deep she is sensitive….

Papa she is super sensitive, the problem is she will get married in a few days time, do you think everything will be honky dory in Shekhar's house…..

I am with you Bahu but you understand…

Papa, Hiten too lost his mother alongwith Deep, okay he was older but not that old, mai bhi apne ghar ka dulari thi, and here I am learnt to adjust, Deep too has to learn the same, you cannot protect her forever…

Forever toh zinda nehi rahunga aur beta Gauri I am sure no girl likes to lose her place in her father's house as soon as she gets married……Madho Solanki gets up and goes towards the stairs, he cannot go to bed without seeing Deep is alright, Gauri is right no doubt but then his daughter is going to get married and till then he will take good care of her.
