Dolly Bindra & Rakhi Sawant pulled up for their insensitive statements

Neha Maheshwri | TNN | Apr 13, 2016

Pratyusha Banerjee's untimely death seems to have divided the television industry into two " friends seeking justice for her and supposed well-wishers milking the incident for publicity. Dolly Bindra and Rakhi Sawant figure in the latter.

Dolly was in the eye of the storm for circulating pictures of Pratyusha's body in the hospital, claiming she noticed sindoor on her forehead, and her probing conversation with the late actress' mother confirming the news of her daughter's death.

Rakhi followed suit by announcing on national television that she has requested PM Narendra Modi to ban ceiling fans and distribute table fans instead. They raised quite a few eyebrows with their antics, offending many, including CINTAA (Cine and TV Artistes' Association), who will send a show cause notice to both of them. A highly-placed source in the governing body informs, "We are appalled by their insensitive and obnoxious statements. It proves how inhuman they are even in matters of death. It's a serious matter, and we are sending a show-cause notice to them."

When contacted, Amit Behl, Chairperson Dispute Committee, CINTAA, confirms, "A notice will be sent to them soon. People can't stoop so low and hog the limelight when the matter is as sensitive as this. I will raise the issue at our Annual General Meeting on May 1 and propose a ban on them."

thank god CINTAA is taking action for better.

Rahul's ex Saloni: It was Pratyusha, not me, who was the other woman in Rahul's life

Avinash Lohana | TNN | Apr 15, 2016,

April 1, Pratyusha Banerjee hung herself from the ceiling fan at her Goregaon residence in Mumbai.

Following her shocking suicide, her friends, producer Vikas Gupta and wedding planner Leena Dias, have been blaming Pratyusha Bannerjee's boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh's ex-girlfriend, Saloni Sharma, for the tragedy, alleging that she used to assault the Balika Vadhu actress in his absence. Saloni, speaking up for the first time, denies the allegations.

Saloni claims that she had met Rahul five years back through a common friend, and they started two event management companies. "We started dating only in the last three years of our association," informs the actress-turned-entrepreneur. Saloni insisted that she was completely clueless about the fact that Rahul had also started dating Pratyusha while he was still seeing her. "He started dating her (Pratyusha) in May 2015, and I only discovered this in July through a few industry friends. When I went to his place to confront him, an inebriated Pratyusha barged in and told me to get out of their lives. We had a huge argument, after which I left them alone," she says. The next day, Rahul called her requesting that she ignore Pratyusha's behaviour, and insisting that they were just friends. "I let it go, but contrary to what is being written, it wasn't me but Pratyusha who was the other woman in Rahul's life. She knew about our affair and manipulated Rahul to leave me, urging him to even break all professional ties as well," she says.

Saloni admits that she was shocked to see pictures of Pratyusha celebrating her birthday with Rahul in the papers. On August 10, she went to his apartment for a showdown, but wasn't allowed to enter the building. "Rahul called my father asking him to take me away. When he reached, we went up to Rahul's flat where we saw Pratyusha and her parents. When I confronted her, she said that Rahul and she were getting married, and that I should get out of their lives. I broke up with Rahul the same day," Saloni asserts.

However, with both their companies running into deficit, Saloni, who had invested '30 lakh in the ventures, would occasionally meet Rahul to collect a "few thousand" from him, as they were sharing the loss. When the money stopped, she dropped in on Rahul and Pratyusha's flat on February 11. "Pratyusha refused to give me any money and turned violent. They threw me out of the house. She even took my purse, dupatta and glasses, so I asked the neighbours for help. I banged on the door and Pratyusha eventually opened it wearing my dupatta. She returned my stuff and I left," Saloni says. She claims that Rahul chased after her, and in a rage, she hit him in the building lobby. "Pratyusha followed him and I hit her too. Unfortunately, there was no CCTV in the apartment, so there's no record of what happened there, but the camera in the lobby filmed the fight," she adds. Saloni then filed a complaint against the couple at the Bangur Nagar Police Station. "They (Rahul and Pratyusha) requested me to withdraw the complaint, saying that if they were put behind bars, Rahul wouldn't be able to pay the money back. That was the last time I met Pratyusha," she says.

Saloni adds that she was amazed when her name was dragged through mud after the Balika Vadhu actress's death. "I have never met Vikas, Kamya Punjabi or Rakhi Sawant, so how can they claim to know so much about me? Leena (Dias) was employed with our company for a brief period. I wasn't happy with her work and I had mentioned this to Rahul once, but we did not sack her, she left on her own. I guess she held a grudge against me which she is taking out now," she points out. Saloni recorded her statement with the police last week, admitting that the incident has created havoc in her life and maligned her family. "I didn't think it's in good taste to talk ill of the dead. But after these allegations I had no option but to speak up," she says.

I wouldn't have been with Rahul if I knew he was married, says Rahul Singh's ex

Seema Mattoo | TNN | Apr 15, 2016

In the wake of television actress Pratyusha Banerjee's suicide, her beau Rahul Raj Singh's ex-girlfriend, Saloni Sharma's name has been dragged in the controversy.

Though she has been portrayed in a negative light, in an interview to BT, the model-actress claims she was actually the victim and that Pratyusha got involved with Rahul when he was still in a relationship with her. Saloni alleges, "Pratyusha was fully aware of my relationship with Rahul whereas I wasn't aware about them. Last July when I learnt from our common friends that Rahul and Pratyusha were having an affair, I went to his house to confront him."

She adds, "While he was denying it, Pratyusha walked in a drunken state and warned me to stay away from her would-be husband. Rahul called me the next day to pacify me. However, when I saw them together at her birthday party in August, I went to his house again but was denied entry. When my dad reached there, Pratyusha's parents, Soma and Shankar Banerjee, told him that they knew about my relationship with Rahul. They wanted me out of his life."

It was at this juncture that Saloni's father reportedly informed them that his daughter had taken a loan of Rs 30 lakh for the company that she and Rahul had set up together in 2011. He demanded that Rahul should pay the money. From thereon, Saloni maintains, she would meet him only when he came to return the money.

Explaining how they started dating each other in the first place, she adds, "I met Rahul in mid-2011. I didn't know that he had married just a few months ago. I got to know about it only after three years. If I knew about it earlier, I would have never got involved with him. Rahul had told me that his wife stayed abroad. In early 2014, he informed me that their divorce was in process. Later, he told me they had divorced but I didn't ask him to show me the legal documents."

Saloni elaborates that she isn't aware of the company's current status. "In August last year, I left Rahul and the firm. I haven't checked whether it has been dissolved or if I'm still a partner. He was returning my payment in installments. If he wouldn't have returned the money, I would have sued him," she claims. Ask her if she will take legal action against Rahul for defaming her, she replies, "I can take a decision only after the current legal case against him is over."

Pratyusha's mom writes to CM, wants murder' probe

TNN | Apr 15, 2016

nhappy with the progress in the probe of TV actor Pratyusha Banerjee's death, her mother has written to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis to hand over the case to the crime branch.

Soma Banerjee has stated in her letter that she suspects her daughter Praytusha was murdered. She added that the accused, Pratyusha's boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh, has been threatening witnesses. Meanwhile, Rahul faced nearly 150 questions during a two-hour interrogation session at Bangur Nagar police station on Thursday, before he returned to the Kandivli hospital where he is admitted. He was quizzed about his association with Pratyusha since he first met her as well as his previous relationships with other women. Rahul told TOI that his health was better and he would soon speak out.

Soma's letter, dated Wednesday, is also addressed to state home minister Ranjeet Patil, commissioner of police Datta Padsalgikar and joint commissioner Deven Bharti. "Ever since our statements were recorded, we have been telling the local police that the death of our daughter is not suicide but something more. We suspect she has been murdered. But our complaint is not being heard. Instead, the police are giving a free hand to the accused (Rahul) to destroy evidence. The death of my daughter is being portrayed as a suicide committed out of depression which is false," the letter said.

"There are many important clues and circumstantial evidence which is sufficient to prove that this isn't a case of suicide," the letter said, adding Rahul was the "only person responsible for Pratyusha's death".

Speaking to mediapersons on Thursday, Pratyusha's father Shankar said they have full faith in the law. "What happened to our daughter shouldn't ever happen to anybody else. We want the police to investigate the possibility of foul play. What does Rahul's behaviour since Pratyusha's death (getting himself hospitalised and applying for anticipatory bail) indicate? We have discussed with our lawyer the threats that some people have received in connection with this case," he said.

Advocate Falguni Brahmbhat, who is representing Pratyusha's actor friends, said there was no stool in Pratyusha's house and a petite girl like her couldn't have reached the ceiling fan by herself to tie a noose. "There were three knots on the dupatta used for hanging. There are call records to prove that Rahul had called up his ex-girlfriend after Pratyusha's death. This ex-girlfriend had threatened and assaulted Pratyusha in the past. It is strange that she hasn't been questioned thoroughly," Brahmbhat told mediapersons.

CINTAA to hold counselling sessions for actors

IANS | Apr 15, 2016,

In the wake of the untimely death of Pratyusha Banerjee, members of the Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) have decided to hold counselling sessions with actors.

"Starting from April 17, we will have seven counselling sessions with all the actors. We really want to know the root cause of suicide and eradicate it," Amit Behl, chairperson dispute committee, CINTAA, told IANS.

"Of course, it doesn't guarantee anything, but we all will sit as family members and discuss our own highs and lows," he added.

Pratyusha, who portrayed the character of the adult Anandi in the famous teleserial "Balika Vadhu", was found hanging from a fan by her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh and neighbours at her Goregaon residence on April 1.

She was rushed to the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital where she was declared dead.

"Pratyusha was such a young girl and my concern is that as an actor, they need to understand highs and lows are part of this industry. So we have collectively taken this decision and have come forward to speak about it," Behl said.

Crime Branch may be roped-in if needed: Patil on Pratyusha case

PTI | Apr 15, 2016

parents of TV star Pratyusha Banerjee, who allegedly committed suicide earlier this month, have written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis seeking a probe into her death by Mumbai Police Crime Branch following which the state government said it may be done.

Making it clear that it was the responsibility of police to get to the bottom of this case, Minister of State (Home) Ranjit Patil said the police administration will have to bear the consequences if their work was not found proper.

The 24-year-old 'Balika Badhu' fame actress was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her residence in Goregaon on April 1. She was then rushed by her boyfriend and actor- producer Rahul Raj Singh to a hospital in Andheri where she was declared brought dead.

A case was later lodged against Rahul for abetment of suicide.

Pratyusha's mother Soma Banerjee, in her letter to the CM, Patil and top police officials, sought a probe by Mumbai Police Crime Branch into her death, alleging that Rahul was "solely responsible for her death".

She also alleged that instead of seriously investigating the matter, the Bangur Nagar police, where the case has been registered, was giving a free hand to the accused to destroy the evidence.

"We have received the letter and have asked police officials to take up the case on a high priority basis. If the need be, we do not mind transferring the case to the Crime Branch," Patil told PTI here today.

"I have myself spoken to the concerned police officials and have told them that a letter from Pratyusha's mother means that her parents are not happy with the investigation and more needs to be done," he said.

He said the message that needs to go out is that the police are probing the case on a war-footing and no stone will be left unturned.

"If we find that police administration is not doing its work properly, they will have to bear the consequences. It is their outlook on what needs to be done. We will not direct them on what to do, but are closely monitoring what is being done.

"If necessary, we will not only use the Crime Branch but all other measures at our disposal to see that the truth comes out," the minister said. The actress' mother in her letter stated that "...She

(Pratyusha) fell prey at the hands of conman Rahul Raj Singh, who not only has cheated my daughter and is solely responsible for her death, but also cheated many innocent girls like her to the tune of lakhs of rupees."

"He (Rahul) also has been threatening us and the witnesses and the death of my daughter is being coloured and portrayed as a suicide committed due to depression," she said.

"Our appeal to you is that the investigation in the case should be transferred to Mumbai Crime Branch for a fair investigation and to get justice to our daughter's untimely and mysterious death," she further stated.

Rahul has been undergoing treatment for alleged depression at a hospital in Borivali since April 3.

The Bombay High Court had on Tuesday granted him interim protection from arrest till April 18.

Pratyusha was living in a hell created by herself.
And this saloni girl is a big hypocrite. When she discovered he was a married man, same day she became the another woman, and lost the right to call someone else as another woman.

When Pratyusha never liked her, why was she going to their house again and again? Was it fun to get into dirty fights? For money she should send cops or go their with cops, don't need to enter in flats, just ask standing outside. If you register complain, you don't need to visit his home, police would call him in police station. Somewhere she was enjoying everything, otherwise why would you go there where you are not welcome?

Pratyusha Banerjee's father complains to IMA against Shree Sai Hospital

ANI | Apr 17, 2016

Late actress Pratyusha Banerjee's father has filed a complaint to the Indian Medical Association (IMA) via email on Saturday against Shree Sai hospital in Mumbai for protecting Rahul Raj Singh and conniving with him by taking money.

When Dr. SJ Goel of Shree Sai hospital, who was treating Rahul, was asked about the complaint, she told ANI that she, along with a psychiatrist and two councilors, has given day to day bulletin to the police for evaluation.

She also mentioned that the 'Balika Vadhu' actress' beau was suffering from restless leg syndrome.

Finally, the doctor added, "I can understand Pratyusha's parents are sad as they have lost their daughter and my sympathy is with them, but its police's work to find out who the criminal is, I don't know anything."

Rahul appeared before the Bangur Nagar police station today after being released from the hospital yesterday.

The actor and event manager, who has been booked for abetting the suicide of the 24-year-old TV actress on April 1, has been granted interim protection from arrest till April 18 by the Bombay High Court.

He was admitted to the hospital on April 3 with a complaint of chest pain and depression.
