TOI:

After Pratyusha's parents, now Rahul's father writes to the Chief Minister

Neha Maheshwri | TNN | Apr 18, 2016,

After Pratyusha Banerjee's mother Soma Banerjee shot off a letter to the Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, requesting for a probe by Mumbai Police Crime Branch into her daughter's death, alleging that Pratyusha's boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh was 'solely responsible for her death', now Rahul's father has written a letter to the CM.

The letter, dated April 16, which has also been sent to the Home ministry and Mumbai police commissioner, states that Rahul has been traumatised and was in the hospital from April 3 since his to-be-wife (fiancee) committed suicide. "It's a sincere and urgent request to ensure that some anti-social persons, who do not know the actual facts, are harming my family name and reputation, and who shall and will be responsible if anything happens to any of my family members, especially my son Mr Rahul Raj Singh, who's extremely traumatised but is trying to be strong and brave in view of this unfortunate and unforeseen tragedy. Due to all these false allegations, he may take some drastic step which may be harmful to him and to the entire family," said the letter signed by Rahul's father Harshvardhan Singh.

He goes on to request the CM in the letter to ensure that justice prevails and there is no unnecessary interference or pressure by any anti-social persons who can harm the entire family and Rahul.

When contacted, Rahul, who was discharged from the hospital on Saturday, said, "This letter is for people to know that they shouldn't judge the family and me who loved Pratyusha. Don't judge the book by reading the preface, read the complete book. Let the truth come out and then judge. The idea behind the letter is I love her and I love her forever. It has been my biggest loss in life."

Pratyusha was pregnant, may had abortion before her death

JJ Hospital doctors confirmed on Monday that TV actor Pratyusha Banerjee, 24, was pregnant and had probably undergone an abortion not long before her alleged suicide on April 2. The revelation, made on the basis of a histopathological examination of tissues from the uterus, may add another twist to the case.

A source close to the investigation told TOI, "The findings showed that there was a conception few days or a month before her demise, and there was a premature death of the foetal cell." The products of conception, or the placental or foetal tissue in the uterus found following delivery, termination of pregnancy or a miscarriage, were infected and degenerated. That usually hints towards a secondary infection, probably occurring due to an attempt to terminate the pregnancy."

But experts said the police will have a tough time establishing the paternity of the child. "Since there are no tissues left or rather they were removed, it may be challenging to carry out a DNA test to establish the child's paternity," an expert said. Investigations following Pratyusha's death have shown that she was in a troubled relationship with her fiance, actor-producer Rahul Raj Singh. But the report could not confirm her exact gestational age.

Dean Dr TP Lahane said, "We cannot reveal the findings. The report has been handed over to the police." Many departments are working simultaneously to establish the cause of Pratyusha's death. So far, the investigators only have a preliminary autopsy report which states the provisional cause of death as "ligature over the neck with asphyxia". Her viscera is being analysed at Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory, where experts will run chemical tests to look for traces of poisoning. Her hair, nail and blood samples have been preserved for DNA analysis.

Poor celebrity actress. Her private life is now becoming a mockery. Instead of getting justice, she is coming out more like a criminal.

I feel for her. So many unending accusations, conspiracies and ooked up controversies everyday?

Obviously, something was not right in her life, and probably her life was getting out of her control, which is why she chose to end it.

But how fair is it the media is now digging into too many personal incidences of her private life, that may or may not have anything to do with her death. And they are publishing these reports only on basis of "assumptions" which are not clearly proven.

One thing, I can say is no one was innocent in this. Neither Pratyusha herself, nor her parents, boyfriend or other industry associates, but it is only her who paid for this by taking away her life. Hope she gets justice, but if not, atleast, let her life not become a bundle of clueless controversies.

I think it is so unethical for all this pregnancy news to be put out by the doctors.
I wonder if they even know what a 'post mortem' is.
A post-mortem is only done to establish the cause of death.
It has very strict limits.
What is the point of having all sorts of unnecessary information beyond that? Extremely out of boundary lines.
If she was pregnant, the pregnancy should only be discussed if that was her cause of death.
i.e. did she have a miscarriage causing her to bleed or something like that.
When it is clear that she died because of suffocation, then other conditions in her body are irrelevant -- whether she was pregnant, whether she had diabetes, whether she had a brain tumor, whether she had a thyroid condition etc. These should not be discussed by the doctors at all.
I hope her parents sue the doctors of JJ Hospital for going beyond the boundaries of the post-mortem.

The doctors did exactly that - tried to find the cause of death. So they had to scan the whole body and look for clues.

They said the reports are already given to the police,That is apparently because the police are trying to find out if this is a case of abetment of suicide.

According to me the JJ guys did nothing wrong... it is the media who is wrong for publishing such a news and bringing disgrace to the dead.

No shinya its not okay
Its perfectly allright that they did a scan of the whole body to establisj the cause of death. But her pregnancy had nothing to do with her death. So they should not bave revealed it.

And pregnancy will not be a case for abetment to suicide.

Abetment to suicide can only come through mental torture or physical torture.

If she was forcibly rahiaped maybe then there can be a case of mental torture owing to pregnancy but she was in a live in relationship with her consent and so it will not be mental torture.

It is quite possible that rahul did rape her but unless pratyusha hetself accuses him of rape it cannot be seen as mental torture leading to abetment of suicide. Unfortunately pratyusha is no longer here to do so and the court will not convict him on the basis of speculation by others.

So jj doctors are not correct in revealing her pregnancy.

Her death was not caused by pregnancy, this the doctors and the police know.

But what is not known is what led her to kill herself, which they are trying to investigate.

Abetment of suicide is not mental torture... If someone tortures you and you decide to end your life, it is not called abetment.

Abetment is instigating someone to do something... It is same like killing someone but here the murderer does not do it himself but makes the victim do it... The victim is left with no option other than ending the life.

The termination of pregnancy may become an important clue to abetment of suicide, where she might have been forced by the accused to kill herself, which is what they are trying to investigate.

I agree with the bold part. However, it is not doctors but the media which are insensitive and publishing random accusations and theories. When the case is under police investigation - so media and the related persons - including the parents should show restraints. But here - the parents themselves are issuing so many statements etc. and therefore, they cannot sue the doctors because a lot of negative things that no one knew came out through parents and the so called friends.

From whatever we have read - no one was above guilt in this case. I wonder why so many girls in showbiz run after men who are married/in relationship with other women?

What is the possibility that abortion was that final push to suicide? It's not an easy decision and it's not like you get over it. Hormonal wise it must mess you up. I don't get why that isn't counted as instrumental towards it.
