Can two single person ever be just friends?
On one side Anant-Anandi's story might look entertaining and somewhat progressive (marriage in 40s) but on the other hand it also seems like a single man is bound to get attracted to a single woman!
Any single woman is bound to get cautious about her actions if all she attracts is romantic feelings from her so-called male friend! On one hand we say it's not wrong if Anandi spends time with Anant or seeks his company as a friend but on the other hand Anant's feelings have started becoming less-friendly/more-romantic! That is bound to make Anandi take a step back (when she gets to know his feelings) and question her alliance with single male friends in her life! It's wrong becoz that sends out a message that no widow/divorcee woman should seek friendship from other single man becoz all they will get is romanctic feelings at some point of their friendship! They just cannot enjoy a normal friendship
I really wish if CVs had not made Anandi-Anant's story follow the same old routine of man falling in love with woman! Why does admiration always take form of romance in such stories?

Why should people stop themselves / control themselves from getting romantically involved, if they end up garnering such feelings? Be it a single man or woman.

Can two single people remain friends? Yes they can, if neither of them evoke romantic feelings for the other.

What if one has romantic feelings for the other, while the other one doesn't? Well either their friendship will take a back step, or the one who hasn't realised a romantic feeling might end up realising it and they can become a couple.

What if one wants to only remain a friend i.e. neither take a back seat nor move forward, but the other person only wants to move forward. Well, this doesn't work then. One of them will be hurt.

Should a woman stop interacting with other single men in the fear of what if he ends up liking her romantically? No. Because she cannot control anyone's emotions. She can only control hers.

Should Anandi take a back seat upon realising Anant's feelings? Her decision should be based on her own feelings about Anant.

Men are somewhat different. And they easily give into their inner desires. Anandi had a good married life while anant had not. He still longs for ideal companion.

Many single women who are not looking for a partner or romance end up retreating into a shell because they face this problem.
It is mostly because of various reasons.People around them mistake them for a couple or the man in question ends up thinking more than friendship is on offer while the woman in question is only interested in platonic friendship which involves mainly going out in the evenings or catching movies or going out for a meal or two.

I wouldn't generalize. But I think Anant gave in too quickly. It feels like he was never ever in love with his first wife while it was shown like he wanted to be in the first marriage against his wife's wishes. Anyway just like Anandi has her bal sasural behind her , all the time proving to the world how wonderful beendini she was... similarly Anant has his fully supportive daughter behind him proving he's a doting dad and that her mother was the bad one. Good for them if they are going to get married. It won't matter if they remain single too. Was/is/will never be interested in her third marriage/love story. Anandi as a character never progressed till date, she only regressed and it gets boring each day.

Anandi from what is shown so far is not really looking for a life partner or a relationship anything deeper than friendship which includes going out together on a few occasions and helping each other as and when need arises.

If Anant sees this as Anandi's interest in him then he is just a conventional guy who thinks if a woman is friendly with him she is willing to go all the way.Which is what is the main problem single women face.

If Anant is interested and wants more then he should put all this in front of her and retreat if she is not willing to give more then what she is giving.Or if he is content to remain friends with her then he should continue.

Anant wants to put his past behind him while Anandi wants to cling on to that part of the past which is the most beautiful phase of her life.So their needs seem to be different and which don't look like they will be met by each other.

When a man or a woman is single - they are expected to be independent persons. Keeping communication channels open is necessary. It gets a bit awkward when the romantic feelings are one sided - but still the two can remain friends if the problem is nipped in the bud. In real life - no one is as dumb as serial characters are - where they cannot see the obvious or in some cases - remain oblivious of their own romantic feelings 😆 - he/she is in love but has not realised it seems to be most funny situation found in serials - love is a feeling and the one in love realises it as soon as it appears (just like anger, happiness etc.) before anyone else can realise it. And mature people are expected to communicate their approval/disapproval of such feelings before it makes their friendship break just because only one of them is in love.

This has been true in many cases too but usually not highlighted. Especially not in TV serials
In TV serials, it is always about a woman's dilemma of moving onto another relationship. But in reality many women desire to be in a relationship even if they are widows or divorcees.
