Hello Friends...😊
today is World Thinking Day
The World Thinking Day is celebrated every year around the world on 22nd February by Girl Scouts and Girl Guides. The day is celebrated to appreciate the help and guidance of brothers and sisters around the world. On a larger perspective, it is a day to think about fellow brothers and sisters around the world, address their concerns and understand the true meaning of guiding.
Although the day is largely celebrated by girl scouts, in some parts, even the boy scouts celebrate the day. It was in 1932 that the World Thinking Day Fund was established. It was suggested that since the day falls on Lord Powell's birthday, it should be about giving gifts and presents. Hence, a fund was set up whereby girl scouts could give voluntary donations in order to help the needy around the world.
Over the past few years, The World Association for Girl Guides and Scouts has started adopting themes for the day. These themes are then discussed in their conferences and suggestions are made to help solve global problems...

For 2014 the theme is achieiving universal primary education. The messages for this theme are: "Every girl has the right to learning so she reaches her fullest potential" and "Education opens doors for all girls and boys".

Thank you Manu for this beautiful thread ❤️ 🤗

Happy World Thinking Day. 🥳

May all the Brothers and Sisters around a world put on their thinking hats, and make this world a better place. But, on the end, it is important what we do, how we make our little piece of this world better for us, and people around us, and we can do that if we learn continuously, educate ourself and help people around us, the best we can.😊

Love the Theme for 2014
"Every girl has the right to learning so she reaches her fullest potential" and "Education opens doors for all girls and boys".👏👏👏👍🏼

Thank you for posting her quote here. I love Audrey as an actress, but she was such a big humanitarian, as well.

Happy World Thinking Day!

22 February 2014

We are so excited to be sharing another World Thinking Day with all the Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world. Today we will be celebrating our global sisterhood . We have so many things happening on this World Thinking Day ! Here are a few highlighted activities.

The activity pack this year is centred around the World Thinking Day 2014 theme - Millennium Development Goal 2: achieve universal primary education.

MDG 2: Achieve Universal Primary Education

There are still 54 million girls around the world outside of education. This can and must be changed.

Be the spark - The new campaign!

If a girl is educated, she is safer, healthier, wealthier and more likely to thrive, as are her family and her community. It's a chain reaction !!

Prepared to learn, prepared to lead

This World Thinking Day the World Association has produced a brand new handbook on the WAGGGS' method to non-formal education. This resource is aimed at everyone who plays a part in facilitating learning experiences in Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting. From a local leader who struggles to empower her group to take the lead, to a committee reviewing their National Association's educational programme. to those of us who develop and deliver global programmes, workshops and trainings. Education is a key issue affecting girls and young women around the world.

Despite progress, an estimated 250 million children of primary school age lack basic reading, writing and numeracy skills, whether in school or not. Globally, 123 million youth (aged 15 to 24) lack basic reading and writing skills; 61 per cent of them are young women.

This situation can and must be changed. Together, the 10 million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts worldwide can help raise awareness and ensure that every girl has the right to learning so she fulfils her potential.

World Thinking Day

The World Thinking Day is celebrated every year around the world on 22nd February by Girl Scouts and Girl Guides. The day is celebrated to appreciate the help and guidance of brothers and sisters around the world. On a larger perspective, it is a day to think about fellow brothers and sisters around the world, address their concerns and understand the true meaning of guiding.

Originally called the Thinking Day, the day was first celebrated in 1926. It was during the 4th conference of Girl Guides in USA that the idea of having a day for appreciating girl guides and scouts around the world was pitched. After discussion, 22nd February was mutually chosen as the World Thinking Day. February 22 is also the birth date of Lord Baden-Powell, which is credited with starting the Boy Scout movement. Until 1999, the day was simply called as the Thinking Day, and was largely restricted to the United States. In 1999, during the 30th Girl Scout conference in Belgian, the name was changed to World Thinking Day to signify the global impact of it.Although the day is largely celebrated by girl scouts, in some parts, even the boy scouts celebrate the day.

It was in 1932 that the World Thinking Day Fund was established. It was suggested that since the day falls on Lord Powell's birthday, it should be about giving gifts and presents. Hence, a fund was set up whereby girl scouts could give voluntary donations in order to help the needy around the world.

Thanks for the post. Lord Baden Powell was the founder of the Scouts and Guides movement. Thinking day is observed to commemorate his contribution in maintaining peace and tranquility in the world. He promulgated that as a child we should be strong and healthy so that when we grow up our energy can be utilised in serving the mankind. He further propagated to be jovial and positive and with compassion in our hearts keep striving for peace in our surroundings. Thinking day is observed as a mark of respect to this noble personality.
The essence of the day is to shed our selfcentered attitude, show concern and value the human life..
