I think it was Shiv's fault to take his family's consent for granted. As usual Anandi got thrashed because her husband felt no one would have any problem with her!🤢
Where is his sense? Doesn't he remember what has happened in past? What was the issue if he had consulted or at least informed the entire family in advance of this Sunday bazaaar to be held in their bungalow premises?
BTW, I find it more of a blooper issue.
Don't IAS officers' residence have 24/7 security and police protection? How come police reached late?
Also, when Shiv knows from his and Anandi's experience that frustrated anti social elements can create menace again any time to take revenge then why did he not anticipate this trouble earlier and organise the bazaar elsewhere plus put security guards to check everyone who entered?😲
I agree about Sectoreight's points about Anandi's social work in Jetsar. But she faced trouble there also. Heth Singh's men kidnapped her and held her captive. She had faced stones pelted at her too. And she once narrowly escaped a rape bid!😕
In Udaipur also she has umbrella - that of being the Collector's wife. It can't get bigger!
But she needs to be tactful, take police protection or hire security guards from private agencies PLUS use the media.
Anyway, social work or working righteously in any field can invite dangers. We know about killing of Dr. Dabholkar recently who spent 2 decades working to dispel superstitions and expose fake babas and black magic practitioners. Then threats, suspensions, transfers and other ways of harrassment received by honest officers like Durga Shakti and another one from Rajasthan (who reportedly received death threats) are also daily news.
This path is never easy. But it does not mean that it should be abandoned. Or some "easy" or "non controversial" work like teaching underprivileged kids and adults should be pursued instead of serious issues!
Some tact, proper planning, carefulness and foresight need to be used. Plus the more public support you can get, the better. Then unscrupulous elements don't attack so easily due to fear of media. (Doesn't mean they do not attack at all, but it is not as "at drop of a hat" as it is when you have less public support and no media support).
