Village women cook on their fasts and she loved entertaining his friends

i found it refreshing compared to the ideas that city girls have about fasts ...getting pampered with costly gifts by husbands as if they r doing an obligation by fasting

i loved her simple rural explanation behind fasting and the scene where she served those doctors with pleasure .

I work in a multinational (in India).
My female colleague's direct supervisor is an American man (based in India). A very liberal broad minded man.
One day, she wore a beautiful embroidered heavy silk sari to work. Normally she wears ordinary saris.
She is his secretary. He could have asked her directly.
But instead he called me to his office and requested me to find out why she was wearing the silk sari. He wanted to be sure that there was no occasion or something that she found important that he had missed or forgotten. (He thought maybe she had told him and he might have forgotten and he said he wanted to know if he needs to get her a gift or something. Daughter's wedding reception or something)
I asked him why he didn't ask her directly. He said he didn't think it was appropriate for him as a man to admire her clothing etc. and comment on it. At the same time, if something was expected of him, (in terms of cultural propriety) he didn't want to fall short on that either. He asked me if I would please check with her and just let him know discreetly if there was any occasion.
He didn't want her to feel awkward, or to send any wrong signals to her. It turned out that she was doing a puja in the evening (her own personal thing to which he had no relevance) and today was an auspicious day. I told him, he said fine, and thanked me.
I thought it was odd, because she is his direct reportee, he can always ask her casually, but I still liked that he didn't ask her directly -- it showed his decency. There still need to be some sort of boundaries in interaction.
Edited to add: I feel that if an American man has so much sensitivity about what is appropriate and inappropriate, then Mr. Jagdish certainly does too.

Forget it Kools. The 'vague' character Ganga who does not register on some radars is now a mistress. 😕

Let us see if he likes anyone calling her that . His confusion will end and he will marry her .

Speaking strictly of the friends scene , i did not find it chauvinistic at all . It was sweet and he was touched , he is observing her thoughts a lot nowadays and is very impressed by the simplicity .

One good thing came of it ...he is going to do the MS

the sari scene was deliberately put by CVs to elicit a certain viewership

for me the best scene was Mannu feeding him .😊

And yeah if someone calls her a mistress in the serial i hope Saanchi is called a bitch too .

No they don't. They make all the food at 3 am when they get up, and they have their meals with their husbands.
After that, the food for husbands is kept separately in the kitchen. The husbands can eat it throughout the day.
No village women cook DURING their fast.
Physically, when one is doing "nirjal upwas" it is physically very taxing to actually do any physical work. This is a fast without water. Without water, the body is unable to do anything really.
They just sit around and talk to each other and do low energy tasks and conserve energy.

Okay, finally, one thing we agree on. ❤️
I was feeling emotionally distant from you kools, but this just made all the distance vanish. I feel close to you again. 😆😆

Sector, your American boss in India is being very cautious because he is in a strange culture totally
Different from his. He is extra scared. He could have asked what is the occasion? If he wanted to wish her. That does not necessarily have to be the norm.
You have a problem with j bringing his friends here. They all were very respectful in their behaviuor.
One of them was Ganga's teacher. I dont find anything wrong in it. Just because Ganga made
Samosas you are calling her mistress. But if all of them went to a restaurant along with Ganga as you
Suggested it is ok? So you have a problem with Ganga cooking fir them? I just dont understand
Your logic. Even villagers now a days dont think like thecway you do.
