Excellent post.
I have felt this on many occasions whenever it comes to Ganga or her child, the Singhs all come together and make a decision for her, like she was a minor. Of course, Ganga, being indebted to them, will definitely agree with whatever they decide but would it have been too much if they could just ask her opinions or feelings in those matters?
As for Sumi's outburst at the hospital, that was waaay out of line. Even from a real life perspective, people wouldn't resort to that kind of behavior that she showed. Her getting hyper just on hearing the name of Ganga and then shouting all kinds of things with the person actually standing there is the absolute worst kind of conduct.
So in that scenario, Ganga did seem like an object, forced to become witness to all that drama, being talked of as if she wasn't even present, and listen to all kinds of accusations being leveled at her. it wouldn't have been a big deal for her as this was her reality growing up but all this coming from someone she had come to love and respect was bound to have been heartbreaking. Which made it even worse for her to defend herself and thus stayed silent.

I think what is needed is - clarity about Sumitra's feelings, fears, thoughts, ambitions.

I think the clarity began today with her first monologue...let Saanchi come in the house and 'control' Jagya ...let her stop him from doing ' manmaani' .

It is as if she needs help in controlling him and that aide , the wife of her choice , is what she desperately needs to rein him in .

She does not want him to get married for his happiness , for retaining this control . He was forced to make a choice by her by citing Anandi's happiness as a reason , now she wants a girl she does not even know to help her in 'controlling' him when

a mother should ultimately only and only see what makes the child happy and NOT play control games

I had remarked some time back that she and Saanchi have teamed up coz both in their own way want to control Jagya .

Sumitra thinks she will lose all control if he falls for that abused woman ...that the sympathy factor will overshadow all his emotions towards his family , that he will be slowly so smitten by her child and her youth that he will mentally go away from her .

Thats what i think .
