My question?
Is Ganga an object? Something without feelings?Someone without any self respect?
When Sumitra was mouthing off dialogues like" Why should we care about a stranger" and "Do we have to tolerate Ganga all our lives" nobody seemed to notice or care that Ganga was listening to this. Why is that? Doesn't anybody care if the words hurt or humiliate her?
Sumitra does not want Ganga in her life or house. I may not approve but it's her opinion and I have to respect that. But that doesn't mean she can get away with taunting or hurting Ganga in public
Let me ask Sumitra a question? If Ganga had been a rich, educated woman with a host of brothers to protect her would you have dared to insult her in such a thorough manner and treat her in a way you treat a dog? Would you?
I have sometimes felt that the Badi Haveli family are a little prompt to treat Ganga as someone who has no opinions of her own and someone who can be taken for granted. Yes, I agree they have done a great deal for Ganga but that does not give them the right to consider her as a pet which can be disposed of or treated in whichever way they wish. First Dadisa emotionally blackmails her into staying, then Sumi decides she doesn't want her, then Jagya drags her into hospital quarters, then Sumi publicly humiliates her while Dadisa looks on quietly...I mean, she is not a toy, but a real live human being with human emotions and you can't play with her like this!!!
Ganga might take all the insults and stay quiet, but that's only because of the loyalty and gratitude she feels for the Singhs. Does that mean they can walk all over her, whenever and wherever they please and turn her into their personal servant?
Either tell the girl to clear off in the beginning or commit yourself to helping her and STICK to IT. Don't toy with her life
HELPING SOMEONE DOES NOT MEAN YOU OWN THEM
