Excellent post.
I have felt this on many occasions whenever it comes to Ganga or her child, the Singhs all come together and make a decision for her, like she was a minor. Of course, Ganga, being indebted to them, will definitely agree with whatever they decide but would it have been too much if they could just ask her opinions or feelings in those matters?
As for Sumi's outburst at the hospital, that was waaay out of line. Even from a real life perspective, people wouldn't resort to that kind of behavior that she showed. Her getting hyper just on hearing the name of Ganga and then shouting all kinds of things with the person actually standing there is the absolute worst kind of conduct.
So in that scenario, Ganga did seem like an object, forced to become witness to all that drama, being talked of as if she wasn't even present, and listen to all kinds of accusations being leveled at her. it wouldn't have been a big deal for her as this was her reality growing up but all this coming from someone she had come to love and respect was bound to have been heartbreaking. Which made it even worse for her to defend herself and thus stayed silent.
