Having not actually watched this track, I am limited in terms of how much I can comment. One thing I will say, though, is that I think it's ridiculous that Ratan Singh could be shown to have a bunch of goons under his thumb. I'm pretty sure he was not introduced as somebody rich/influential/powerful! Someone like Heth Singh has the power to have goons etc. Rat was an ordinary man with an ordinary income as far as I'm aware. For the sake of sensationalism and regaining their lost TRPs, they took convenient leaps of logic and adopted cheap Ekta-like storylines. So no, in my opinion, the CVs do not deserve a pat on the back.

More than the CVs, I am disappointed in the audience on whom this tactic was actually successful... but I guess people have different tastes, and most viewers are not as invested in the quality of the show as we are... so I guess they must have seen the masaledaar promos of the haveli burning down and thought, "Oh, that looks exciting and interesting! Chalo dekh lete hai ke kya hoga BH waale ka". But "exciting and interesting" does not necessarily mean that a track is of good quality or has any deeper meaning or merit or creative originality about it. And that is what the CVs are lacking, and to be honest have been lacking since AnSh's marriage. It is painfully evident that they did not plan ahead in terms of how the plot would progress after the grand nuptials, since it was after this that the lack of direction started. The replacement only served to make the cracks that were starting to appear all the more evident. So yeah... the CVs still REALLY need to get their act together, and I think after all these months of them not having it together, that probably won't happen again in whatever remains of the show's run. And hence I don't reckon this massive upwards shift in TRPs will last now that the "ZOMG WILL DADISA AND CO. BE BURNED ALIVE" sensationalism has passed.

In terms of the actors... I personally cannot bear to watch Toral on screen. I tried numerous times to watch BV after the replacement and every time I saw Toral, I felt physical pain. I couldn't bear to see Shiv with a woman who was so blatantly not Anandi to me in mannerisms, looks, quirks, character, anything. It may sound silly, but I felt betrayed on so many levels. Of course the supporting cast are amazing and deserve plenty of accolades, but frankly, I watched the show primarily for Prats' Anandi, and once that was gone, everything else in the show kind of lost meaning and lustre for me. But of course veterans like Surekha ji and Anup Soni should be applauded for their endless good work and consistency, as should the younger lot like Sriti and Shashank (ESPECIALLY Shashank 😳). Indeed, it is the dedicated supporting cast who are now keeping this show afloat, since they all are far better than the actress who is supposed to be playing the centrepoint of the entire plot. So kudos to all of them, but no kudos to the CVs... at least not from my side.

I concur!

It's selective bias and completely absurd to applaud CVs for 3.9 in TRPs for sensationalism and labeling it "sensible." Adding insult to injury by then concurring that ratings are on the rise regardless of replacement is nonsensical when we all know the rise happened because TAnandi was relegated to the background since she obviously could not uphold the heavy responsibility of portraying the lead/crux of the storyline, Anandi Singh Shekhar. Not only that, but when she did have more screen space, the ratings were on a slow decline. It's only because of Shashank and Sriti, as well as the senior actors of BV with their brilliant acting that are holding up what use to be a sensible show.

i dont know why people give credit to particular actors for a raise in trps Sriti might be a great actor but i cant tolerate her scenes becoz all the time she keeps crying,Nways trps increased becoz of shocking promo ,this is only way left for the show to create hype, first Ratan singh drama, now a big shock of ashima maahi and over hyping ganga saving gehna .

I agree Suchi! Its a marvel that BV is still among the top 5 shows across ALL channels and full credit to the CVs and the exemplary cast for that!

Another thing- I feel that the story line in the immediate aftermath of AnSh wedding seemed a little shaky but seems like the CVs have found their footing once again- with multiple characters having their own stories going on. Now, the fact that it WAS shaky initially- is not exactly the CVs fault.

I have noticed this pattern in most shows- once the lead protagonists get married- there IS a dearth of story lines that revolve around them. Mind you, this does not apply to shows which have active Kitchen Saas Bahu politics as their premise or shows where the leads get married as soon as the show begins. BV was building up towards AnSh marriage for the greater part of last year and its a given that the CVs will take time and shift the focus away from them. As it is, BV has never focused on one couples story for the good part of its running- we have had multiple couples being the focus of the show during its 5 year course- Kid JaAn, Shyam-Sugna, Grown up JaAn, Jagya Gauri and more recently, it was AnSh. So naturally, now, its the time for Jagya-Ganga.

Also, one thing I have been wanting to comment on since a long time- I dont understand the hatred towards Toral in the forum. I get it, I am not a fan of her either and am not exactly very impressed by her acting. But if someone does not like her, is it really IMPORTANT to criticize her every opportunity a person gets? If you don't like her, don't watch her. Simple. And its one thing to criticize but the constant comments on her physical attributes is just sad. And also, by reading the plethora of comments on the forum, its as if, Toral was responsible in Pratyusha getting the sack. I was sad that Pratyusha was replaced too. I feel Toral will take a whole lot of time (?) to ever match up to Pratyusha, if at all; but that does not mean I channel my sadness that P is gone by hating on Toral. JMO.

Anyways, getting back to topic...agree with you Suchi! Kudos to the CVs once again!

Sia 🤗 Long time. Am so glad to see your post. As always agree with every word you said.

@bold: Aww.. You have been away from the forum way too long. What you said now is called moral policing and we can't do it now. 😉 People don't like to be told what to do. People want to criticize and label that as fun post Ab, kya karen ? They don't want to follow what they preach, Live and Let live.
Anyway, me turned pink and you are still blue !! 😛

Awww Dixie! Long time yaar! 🤗🤗 I knowww...im still blue! Haha, I guess my last comment was also in BV forum...God only knows when...! I do drop in from time to time...But just too lazy to pitch in...

And seriously? This is moral policing now? Sheesh! Is comment pe bhi log object karenge? But given how irregular I am on IF, I guess I will take it in my stride! 😛

Exactly yaar, live and let live! There are sooo many actors/ characters I don't like- be it on BV or elsewhere. But I know its better to keep my thoughts to myself. Its not that I think this is not a free country or something- but beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder- right? Be it real life or reel life. In real life bhi kitna hota hai- while growing up, we may have had a crush on a guy coz we thought he was all that- but our friends didnt see anything special. Same applies to actors. So many actors - which are on IFs top 10 list are intolerable for me (I wont name anyone 😛) but that does not mean I go and start criticizing them. Whats the point of being SOOO negative yaar...live and let line...acting pe chalo thora bol bhi lo...physical characteristic pe kaise koi comment karta hai- is beyond my comprehension. No matter what I feel about someones physical attributes- I try to keep them to myself or maybe share them with very close people who I know won't judge me for commenting on someones physical nature. But online platform pe- when you hardly know a person- I just dont get it!

Oh man,...I guess I have been wanting to comment on this since a long time and the can of worms finally seems to have opened...LOL...so I will shut up now. LOL

Well said...however much I want to accept her as the new Anandi, she makes sure that I don't with her unbearable expressions and lack of acting skills...can someone please tell her rolling her eyeballs does not an actor make...she has massacred the Anandi I so waited to watch and fell in love with...the reason I started watching BV...the other characters are doing what they always did, nothing new, they were good and still are, they are contributing towards the continuity of the show just like they did before but they cannot make the show go on unless the main lead is good too...at the end of the day the name of the show is still 'BALIKA VADHU'.
