all i can say is, due to my profession, iv seen women n mothers do alot worse with their child! sure ganga walkin in rain wit a kid was bit off, but taking into context her situation n trauma she had just been thru, all i can say it wldnt surprised me if she deliberatly ran infront of vehicle!

its very easy to criticise n debate whether what ganga did is wrong, but a person who has gone thru such trauma will really know what it feels like and how difficult it wld be to think rationally at such time!

Totally agreed . Exactly my thoughts .

Agreed Picasso , a large part of it was for herself . Constantly the parallel of Kaikeyi comes to mind ...she did it for Bharat but also for herself , bcoz she did not want Kaushalya to have any position of importance more than her . That is what Sumitra wants . She has not really bothered to see what Jagya wants at this point of his life . Marraige and romance r the last things on his mind . He has evolved and finds something else more meaningful ...like helping an abused woman or giving that child Mannu a possibility of a secure future .

Yes. Jagya is still consumed with some guilt about his past decisions viz. anandi . He finds a deep fire in himself to atone for it. And helping Ganga sort of gives him a salve.
In fact, any marriage decisions in the near future for him too will be guided by some sort of consideration on these lines too -- Can he help a woman by marrying her and provide her with social respectability/social protection?
I highly doubt that he will be guided by considerations pertaining to looks, romance, whether the girl comes from a big haveli etc. The current Jagya seems to be beyond all that.

Truthseeker,
you wrote "Ganga was subjected to marital rape, more so like gehna but she did WILLINGLY enter into parenting responsibilities. In fact her motive to become a mother was sort of a selfish one(i don't take it as a crime though), because she wanted to get pregnant in order to get treated well by her in-laws and by her husband, She was very excited when she knew she was pregnant but unfortunately she was turned down by rattan."
Okay truthseeker, fair enough. But what sort of "willingly" is it?
Is it the "willingly" of a woman with a certain degree of freedom or independence who is loved by her in-laws and her husband?
or Is it the "willingly" of a woman who sees the pregnancy as a ticket out of being abused and being a domestic servant?
There are degrees of "willingly" and we must see whether the "willingly" is born out of choice or whether it is born out of majboori.
Also, when Ratan singh and co. knew that she became pregnant, did they give her the option to abort the child if she wanted to? If they didn't give her that option, then I disagree that she "willingly" became a mom.
Her "willing" decision to become Manu was not a conscious one made by design, rather it was one made by default.
In itself, I still don't see why you make the statement "Ganga neglects Manu, despite willingly deciding to be a parent" ... because I still stand by my statement that if Ganga was neglecting Manu or had no interest in him, she would have just run away leaving Manu with Ratan and his parents.
The fact that she ran away WITH MANU points to her seriousness of intent and purpose to be a single parent.

And ganga wanted her son to be not like a goonda like ratan. She wants to inculcate good values in her son like normal people do. And manu is also a reason for her to live.
