And in addition to what you said earlier - typically its the rags to riches people who become the biggest snobs eventually. Sumi is living proof of that.
Anandi did not come from such a poor house as apparently Sumi n Gehna did and Anandi will never become a snob. Neither will gehna coz she was willing to throw it all back at DS's face and say - here's your grandson I'm done repaying all my dad's debt.
These two never took money to mean more than what it is - just a means to an end.
But Sumi is a meek and timid person. She gets easily bullied and she easily changes her views to reflect those which will keep her in sync with the stronger party and will least question her allegiance.
So her advice to Anandi and Gehna always used to be - just listen to DS and do as she says and you'll be happy. But now - DS is not so stern and now Sumi feels like a somebody and she feels better and superior to those at her mercy and so she wants Ganga to fall in line and not have a tongue and be just as mild-mannered and pleasing as Sumi used to be at her age. Which Ganga is not.
Hence Sumi's heartburn. Plus her suspicion that Jagya is a little too interested in G. But being who she is - she doesn't want to ask J to back off - instead she will want G to move out. The typical COWARD'S way.
Anyways - got sidetracked -
She got lucky with Sugna when a "virgin" well-educated Shyam fell for her like a ton of bricks despite her being totally in love with her late-fiance and carrying his child. Sugna got the very best deal ever. Shyam had a well settled family and he alone handled all the disputes in his family. (Poor fellow - he had to manao his family and patao his own wife 😆)
She got lucky with Anandi when "virgin" well-educated Shiv 'aided' by Dadisa, fell for Anandi and got his well settled family to agree despite her divorcee non-virgin status.
And so she wants to get lucky now with twice-married Jagya in securing a "virgin" well-educated bride with an understanding AND well settled family.
So - when she feels her son is leaning a little dangerously to the 'non-virgin', with a child, poor, uneducated woman - naturally she feels - What the @#&* ???
Sumi feels thats not for her laadla. Everybody may want the best deal for their kid but when her kid wants a "common" thing - she's aghast.
Her mind is wondering - WHY ? Why wud you like G when you can have S ??😉😆
Bechari Sumi - tera kya hoga. Bcoz I can see - ab to no matter what - Saanchi does - J will want G. 🤣
