I know that in reality, unless one is on designer drugs, hallucinations are unheard of. We have to remember that this is television. One of the methods used to illustrate Jagya's state of mind is the hallucination scene. It's creative licence. Jagya's dialogue immediately thereafter, further cements this when he states, 'I knew Anandi will come BACK to ME'. This clearly show that he was lusting after her. Now before I get bashed for using the word lust, let me explain that synonyms for the word are craving, desiring, thirsting. One can even lust after say chocolate cake even. In this case, Jagya was lusting after a married woman. For obvious reasons this would have negative connotations.
The use of the word rape has created quite a furor and I want to explain its use in the context I understood it in. The word was used in a hypothetical sense. IN MOST CASES Nobody sets out to be a burglar or a thief. It starts off with little bits of thievry in the home or shoplifting little items. It CAN escalate to bigger stuff even murder while committing a burglary. New York mayor Rudy Guiliani had cracked down on petty crime when he was in office and as a result this effort reduced the stats on major crime.
All that is being said is that if the Singhs explain calmly and lovingly to Jagya that his actions even under the influence has negative consequences then maybe this intervention can prevent him from going in a downhill spiral further into the future.
About being presumptive in our reactions to certain scenes. I think it's part and parcel of being on a forum, isn't it? It's good to discuss the scenes as they unfold or else we would never discuss anything of substance until the serial is over. We all could be silent for fear of being 'proven wrong' but how would we learn anything.
One last thing, I don't think that Singhs need to come down with fire and brimstone on Jagya, actually far from it. I want them to sit down and talk sensibly, calmly and moderately lovingly to him. He needs their responsible support and guidance. They need to impart proper guidance to him. In fact they are doing a great injustice to him because a child does not need just love and pampering to survive but discipline to navigate this harsh world. Within your home your loved ones will pamper and love you but those outside that circle will not have the same patience, understanding or magnanimity. It is up to loved ones to impart to their child the right cricitical thinking skills to sustain in this world.
