Why would she need divorce? The marriage is illegal isn't it due to the marriage taking place when both were children, just as if a second marriage isn't considered valid if a person is already legally married? Wouldn't a marriage done in childhood be automatically invalid?

Because of her turning 18 and them planning on announcing anandi as his wife when she turns 18? Is that why? I didn't quite understand the reason (in actual I've only started watching since the leap episode so I don't know the previous events in the story before the big leap) but I thought even if anandi turns 18, jigar and his family can't just claim her to be his wife because the said marriage happened when anandi and jigar were not legally able to consent to the marriage (meaning jigar's family would be admitting to a huge offense themselves thinking that now she is 18 they can legally get away with it), or is it that anandi is still considered married despite the age it happened but she has to seek legal help still to get it annulled?

Ok got it. But this mahaan anandi won't do it just because she considers this family her own. What is the point of being so educated if it doesn't even give you enough sense to know that under-age marriage isn't legal and is invalid in the country you live in and that you can approach the help of the police in such cases. Clearly anandi does know though considering she recently threatened jigar saying if police got to know about this they would come here and arrest everyone. So it's all a matter of anandi getting the strength and sense to understand that this child marriage is unacceptable and she can fight it.
