Thank you for supporting the idea. I tried to look at it differently. Priya is an easy character to write and challenging to make an exciting read.

Her stature, confidence, self-respect, independence, fierceness was enough to withstand the radiance of the sun. He has to bear all the thorns to love the rose passionately. No wonder their love story is very prickly. He loves her taunts so much that he never used that coupon. He would NEVER use it. ❤️

Not sure if the makers put in so much thought & depth as you have derived from the story and the scenes. Honestly, I don't think any EM show has so much of thought behind it… but the way you have described and covered it makes me want to re-watch a lot of episodes from a different perspective.

Aww. I am glad that you loved it. Writing about Pri was easy to make a cliche, but I tried to twist it using rain and rose. One symbolizes Ram and another Pri. I needed to bring the nazar and nazariyaan in the mix.

The early episodes were a gem. They had put a lot of thought into writing them, the difference in their opinion to similarities. The scene where Pri tells Akki when she caught them red-handed that - "iss situation mein YOU are the third wheel because Shivi is engaged to someone else." Whereas in the same place when Ram comes to search Shivi, he tells V that - "pyar mein jahan bharosa nehin wahan kuch nehin."

I was always shocked by the difference of their opinion: Is Ram NOT the third wheel in Shashi-Vedika marital relation? How clear-cut Pri was in that scene! The girl is so much resolved in her thought process.

This is one of many major reasons why Ram fell for Pri, and he highly reveres her school of thought.

A big thank you. This is very very beautiful. I loved the literature references throughout esp. North and South ( one of my most fav ever). It also reminds me of a song by the Ink Spots which sums up your analysis very well , i would like to share - ‘ A rose must remain with the sun and the rain, Or it’s lovely promise won’t come true, to each his own, to each his own, And my own is you.’

You are welcome! ❤️

Ahh! North and South! My profile picture is a giveaway.

I checked the Mumbai map before putting the quote. I know Mumbai is a north-south-oriented city, but I had to confirm Goregaon and Bandstand.

I had no idea about that song. I heard it on youtube. Thanks for sharing the song. ❤️

I agree it would require multiple reads to get the flow. The episodes till the contract are essential for this piece. After the contract, we don't see much rain when they meet. smiley36

Priya is very relatable to me, and I think it is true for many. I finished my studies in my very late twenties; got married very late. I am fiercely independent. Many of my views I see in Pri. No matter how strong I am, I always have tears in my eyes every time I watch the contract signing episode.

Vedika has never made Ram uncomfortable whereas Pri has always made Ram very, very uncomfortable. She literally pushed his buttons to the core. He did not even realize how she slowly and steadily threw a stone in his calm and serene lake water which created a ripple within him.

That episode was why I kept the quote by Georgette Heyer in The Civil Contract where it was symbolic for Pri to V that - "He didn't choose between me and you, Julia: it was between me and ruin." So appropriate!

It was the day when Ram was about to meet V to bid goodbye, Pri entered. After she left, Bri was worried that Ram would rush to meet V, and he said - no.

That was the moment Ram chose Pri and not RUIN.

Thank you! I am very glad that you loved it. It was a very wonderful piece to write and I thoroughly enjoyed writing it too. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

I see you are a Pride and Prejudice fan. I like Jane Austen too but I haven't read many of her books. Every time I pick up Emma, I put it down whenever there is a tea session going on. I somehow do not get the encouragement to finish it. smiley36

Thank you! I HAD to get in Emily Dickinson! smiley36

Yes, the rose thing was my idea to weave it into the piece. Since Priya is very relatable, writing about her is susceptible to making it bland. I wanted to make it more tortuous; hence the idea of rain and rose imagery came to my mind. So I hope I did justice to it.

This is very common in ITV, I presume. Yes, Sara and Pri have different outlooks on how they endured the betrayal. Many few people realize that the five fingers in our hand do not have the same length; how can siblings be the same? Each of the siblings has her IQ, EQ to begin with. So, I wouldn't even bother to pay them any attention.

Yes, your observation of Pri not being loud is correct. She is stern and not loud. She is strict, tough, non-malleable. She puts her feet on the ground when she thinks she is right. This is why Ram sometimes gets mad at her for not being willing to budge from her stance.

Disha is doing a phenomenal job. I have never watched Disha and Nakuul, and they are incredible. They are the reason the show is still going well.

Thank you for the compliment. ❤️ I loved writing it too.

Your in depth analysis on Ram and Priya has left me in awe. It is both the good and bad in life which makes us what we are and how we perceive the things that we see. I am so bowled by the parallels in the two analysis’- the darkness in Ram’s life akin to the rain in Priya’s. And the light ( spectrum of colours) equivalent to the Sun. To truly appreciate the good, they had to go through the bad. And how they both see purple and start experiencing emotions long forgotten by them- just too good ( Your Purple Rose reminds me of the love potion in ‘A Mid Summer Night’s Dream. Purple petals were used by Puck to cast the love spells. ‘Where the bolt of cupid fell. It fell upon a little western flower before milk white now purple with love’s wound. Maidens call it love in idleness’.)Thank you for helping me understand Ram and Priya better and enabling me to see all the scenes you have mentioned in a new light. The first 15 episodes are pure magic and i probably know them by heart. By quoting them, you have added more magic in the show for me. But even more than that, I want to thank you for reminding me how much I love books and sending me back to them. I remember reading A civil contract as a 17 year old..wasn’t much impressed and had kind of dismissed it..But today, so many years later, i have picked it up again. I wasn’t ready for it then and wouldn’t be today too if it wasn’t for you. So thank you. And i have made a note of all the books you have mentioned. The ones I haven’t read are on my list to read now. And yes, your dp is a constant source of delight as are all your posts <3.

@bold: yes, that was the first time he chose priya conciously but he has been choosing priya over vedika unconsciously before that too.

But that contract wala moment marked a special place in his heart.

Doodle, you are right. I consider myself a strong person. I have been very independent since the day I started working. I can connect with Priya more than Ram. That contract waala scene, I keep revisiting it multiple times. I haven't seen the complete episode yet though. Ram and Priya are the two sides of the same coin who chose different mechanisms to overcome their past traumas. They complete each other
