I am SO with you on this! I expect nothing but the worst from Raghavendra, but what really left me appalled was Yamini's reaction. She stood there and seemed just slightly disturbed. Unlike you, I cannot find anything that will redeem her. All of Nikumbh's efforts were for nothing? Forget the tasks. As a human being, and being somewhat the person concerned in this matter, she should have tried to stop her father. Maybe screamed or called for help. And it should have been impulsive!

There were some people who did notice. But Azam did not? It is so disturbing.

I have no points to add about why Raghavendra did what he did. You guys have summed up everything.

And I was TRULY disappointed with the episode today. I mean, Yamini told her mother that everything had been fine at the party? Really? REALLY? Why was she not even remotely disturbed? When it was Nikumbh at the receiving end, she was very disturbed. And in that case, she had the chance to apologize and make things right. In this case, she has no chance. The waiter will never get his justice. And yet...

I mean, if the tasks have had any effect, this was the moment when she should have questioned her father's motives and methods. At least mentally. If she is still the same Yamini that believes that somehow parents are always right because they want the best for us, then I have nothing to say.

Thank you so much for this. I still am not over it. And it bothers me. I know it's hard for her to speak up against her father. I never blamed her for not speaking up for Nikumbh. But here I do blame her. But even then I can kind of understand.

But what really bothers me is that she's not affected at all. I just can't.

And like I mentioned--that gathering wasn't so big or the music so loud. People should've taken notice. The commotion should've reached Azam and the rest of the theatre group.

Okay, leave that. Let's pretend for some reason it didn't reach everyone gathered there. Why is Yamini not affected? I would be. No matter what excuses are given and I try to take, I still can't bring myself to accept it. It's one thing to be helpless as it happened. But why don't you feel bad afterwards? All this goes to show is that people don't really care when a poor waiter is getting beat up, and they just go about their business.

And it's not just us. Others I know who watch not active on the forum are upset too. Though I wonder if it's an Indian audience vs an abroad audience. Because...really the narrative doesn't even dwell on the importance of gravity of what just happened. I realize it's reality, but Yamini should be more upset. And if she's not then it means that she takes part in the same mentality which can brush off such instances so easily.

I cannot understand her complete silence at all. But like you said, the greater issue is that she was not at all bothered by what happened. It sort of ruined the entire episode for me today. At some point she has to see that what her father does is just WRONG. She has been so used to the idea that parents want the best for you, and that is why you should understand them. But she had to see that in this case, nothing could justify what her father did. Something is just wrong with the way he treats everybody he has control over. It goes against her character too, because I don't think Yamini is the sort of person who would be OKAY with someone getting mistreated because of her.

On another level, the events should have triggered something. What essentially started with the Nikumbh-Yamini conversation during the riots and developed through all the tasks, should have come to the fore. I mean, this was even a wonderful opportunity for character development. Because even though it started with Nikumbh seeing something in her, she has to start getting affected by things around her in a way that she has never been affected before.

I agree. What would've been great is if she reacted and found her voice. Screamed and raised her voice for her father to stop. I so wish she would've done that. It's not any instance of going against or speaking up against her father, it's as you said earlier an instinctive reflex which should've come to the forefront after all she's gone through with Nikumbh's tasks.

By the way, I just went over the episode again and I wondered how I had missed it the first time. (Maybe it was the poor quality of the video) But Nikumbh said that had he been in her father's place, he would have reacted worse? WHAT?! I was disturbed by Yamini's treatment of the entire issue, but this?! This is just TOO much! And it came from Nikumbh of all people! And he has been at the receiving end of Raghavendra's maniac-ness! What did the poor waiter guy do? He probably did not even notice Yamini! And Yamini apparently seemed very impressed with Nikumbh saying that! What?!
