Chapter 9
Riya came inside the room and putting the flowers on the table said looking at both of them "well tell me what's going on here? why did maya call you?" arjun straightened himself from his lounging stand and said "that we will also know only when she came into consciousness. The nurse had called us and told us that she told to call us.". Riya looks at maya's sleeping form and said softly "yeah I can guess the reason she called you. anyway I would say come back later. It going to be a long time before she opens her eyes." Karan got up from the couch and said "what she is in a coma?" riya shook her head and said "she had just taken her medicine half an hour ago which will make her sleep 2 hours. So I am assuming you all have just arrived right now so that is why I am saying that she will open her eyes only after 1 and half hour. You all must have got some other cases to solve right now. Why don't you solve that and come? I will call you when she recovers consciousness." Riya expects arjun and karan to agree but instead karan sits back on the couch while arjun lounges on the wall. Karan said "well we have'nt got any case right now so we are free. By the way she a friend of yours?" riya squeezes maya's hand and said "yeah, you can say something like that." arjun asks "when you got the call yesterday, the call was from her. right?" riya looks at arjun but this time instead of confusion in her eyes, he saw cautiousness and wariness. He said "riya, right now she is unconscious so she is of no help. The only way we can help her is if you tell us the truth. And I want only the truth. Samjhe ya samjhau?" riya looks at maya and sighs. She said "maya called you because she is going to be implicated in her husband's murder case."
Kar: wait. If you say going to be implicated then what you are saying she is not the culprit.
Ri: no, she cannot be the culprit. She can't have killed her husband. She would never in the first place even think about killing her husband.
Arj: and why do you think that she would'nt kill her husband?
Riya takes a deep breath and said "maya is pregnant. And it is a girl child."
Arjun and karan exchange a look while riya looks at maya's peaceful face. she could'nt help but feel overprotective of her. when maya told that she was pregnant and the child is a girl and she had left her husband to protect her child riya felt really happy. She could'nt help but feel overly attached to maya. And the advices given to maya surprised not only maya but her also.
Flashback
Riya opened the apartment and door and she said opening to the door "thadah welcome to your new life." And she spun only to see maya lost in thoughts. She shook maya and said "oye, no sad thoughts. This is a happy time and a new start. And I always say that a new start should be made with a smile on your face." but before riya could turn to go back into the apartment maya hugs her. she hugged her back and said "hey maya its okay. You don't have to be so emotional. I was just trying to make you smile." Maya broke the hug and wiping the tears from her eyes and said "I know. its just that I never imagined that I would reach such a stage where I will face such a situation. I mean I loved Nikhil and I also thought that he loved me. but after marrying him I found out that he sees me just his possession. Just an arm candy that can be hung up and taken down anytime he wants. It just hurted. That all." Riya gave maya a side hug and said "hey those all are in the past now. Now its you and the small angel in your stomach. And I promise you that no one can harm you both." Maya wipes her tears and said "and when lavanya sorry sorry when riya kashyap makes a promise, she keeps it. samjhe ya samjhau?" and both of them laugh. Maya feels lighter. Riya said "you know after this lets go shopping. Anyway we have to buy bigger clothes for you." maya wrinkles her nose and said "yeah you are right. at the later months of the pregnancy none of the clothes are going to fit me. I am really going to start looking like a fat bimbo."
Riya said unconsciously still removing the covers "yeah, you will look like a big fat bimbo but when you feel the baby moving around you giving the little kicks indication that there is someone with you within you, you will feel so much alive and happy that you will feel like you have reached the top of the world. And no matter whatever the consequences you are ready for them. because you will face anything even death just to ensure that you can bring her into this world safe." Riya straightened up only to see maya staring at her weirdly.
Ri: what?
Ma: riya were you pregnant?
Ri: WHAT? Why do you say that?
Ma: riya whatever you described right now is like as if you had an experience. So were you pregnant?
Riya could'nt think what to answer and instead changed the topic. She did'nt notice maya giving a small smile to herself, a smile which if she had seen would have chilled her to the bone.
Flashback ends
Arjun saw riya lost in thought and cleared his throat. Riya snaps out of her thoughts. Arjun asks "yeah, so what happened yesterday?". Riya was going to answer but by that time the door opens. seeing who is at the door, arjun straightens himself. Aisha and chotu were standing at the door shocked at seeing all 3 of them here. Aisha snaps out of it first "arjun sir, karan what you doing here?". before karan could answer arjun asks "aisha, what are you doing here?" aisha's posture became from one of confusion to one of authority. She said "I came to arrest someone for drug possession." Riya got up and said "what? You can't arrest maya for drug possession."
Ais: who said I came to arrest maya for drug possession. Miss riya kashyap you are under arrest for drug trafficking and drug possession.
