Chapter 8

Anjali paced the floor of the garage while karan looked on. Arjun stood his hands folded across his chest his expression conveying nothing. They looked up hearing the noise to see riya and simran come down, riya wearing one of simran's clothes. Anjali made a move to go towards riya but stopped and sat in front of her laptop and started tapping furiously. Riya came down the stairs and smiles at karan her eyes showing the strain of the night. She goes to anjali and kisses her head and said "I am fine." Anjali looks at her and suddenly hugs her tightly. Her hug conveyed what she found lacking in words. Riya hugged anjali tightly and then looks up to see arjun looking at them with an inscrutable expression on his face. he just asks "what happened?". Riya said "nothing that could'nt be handled. Its all over now." Before karan or simran could say anything, arjun said "you just came in with blood in your dress and injured at the hand. You are still looking troubled as if you have just commited a crime. Now you are going to have to tell where you were all this time causing so much worry to anjali. And what did you do that it warranted a round to the police station. And you are going to tell me now. Samjhe ya samjhau?". Before riya could answer her phone rang. She picks up the call and listens what it said. At the end she just said thank you and cut the phone. She then looks at arjun with steely eyes her entire demeanour shifting to one of who knows to handle people. She said "mr arjun rawte, thank you for taking care of anjali and sorry for causing so much worry. As to where I was before I came here and what happened, I think that it is my personal business something which I have'nt given anyone any right to interfere. So please keep your sys to yourself. I know how to handle myself and how to handle situations. I have been doing it for a long time and I don't think that there is any need for anyone to handle. Let's go anjali."

Riya and anjali left but not before anjali gave an apologetic glance to arjun. Karan tried to stifle his laughter and when arjun glared at him , he said "what? For the first time a woman has dared to defy you shera. Hassi to aayegi hi." Arjun said softly "no, she was always the woman who always dared to defy." His eyes softened as memories which he had stored up in a dam is creeping back. Somewhere he realized that the dam is now broken.

At riya's house,

Riya knocked on the door and opened it softly to see that anjali is already in bed. She grimaces and then smiles softly. She walks upto the bed and adjusts the blanket around her and kisses her forehead softly. She turns to go when she heard anjali said "you know it was'nt necessary for you to speak to mr arjun rudely. He was just concerned. That's all." Riya turns to see anjali sitting on the bed. Anjali said "he was as much concerned about you as I had. You should have given him a chance to solve the problem." riya sits beside anjali and tucking her hair behind her ear said "I know that he was just being concerned. And I am sorry that I spoke to him rudely. But anjali not all problems can be solved by arjun. Some problems have to be solved by ourself. Samjhe ya samjhau?" both of them smile hearing this dialogue and hug each other. Riya makes anjali lie on the bed and adjusts the blanket around her. anjali asks "di, do you think mr arjun knows you before only?. he seemed to be really surprised seeing you there as if he never expected to see you again. " riya stops and stares at anjali. She then said "I don't know anjali. I don't know."

The next morning,

Riya holding a large bouquet of flowers enters the hospital. She smiles at the receptionist and goes to meet the doctor. The doctor said that she is in a delicate condition but passed the danger stage. She will be fine and will be okay in a couple of weeks. Riya thanks him and goes to meet her. she enters the room and stops surprised. she said to arjun and karan "what are you doing here?"
