Dhurandhar 2 lands in legal trouble after filmmaker claims story was stolen & turned into political propaganda

Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh, has run into controversy after filmmaker Santosh Kumar RS alleged that the film’s story is based on his 2023 script. He claimed to have proof, including registration details with the Screenwriters Association, and said he is preparing to take legal action.

Speaking about the issue, Santosh said his script was formally registered in November 2023. He also stated that he possesses email records and supporting documents to back his claim. “I tried a lot, and I had sent my story to many people. I am a member of the Screenwriters Association, and I registered my story there in November 2023,” Santosh said.

He further expressed distress over how the material was allegedly used. “I am putting a case on this movie because even though they have made a good movie, my story has been exploited. I had written the film for cinema and entertainment, but they made it as political propaganda. It is hurting me,” he added.

Santosh also positioned the matter as a wider concern within the industry. “What happened with me should not happen with anyone, and that's why I will put my maximum effort to let people know about it,” he said, indicating that he plans to pursue the issue beyond just legal channels.

As per his professional profile, Santosh Kumar RS hails from Thirthahalli in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district. He has worked across roles as a writer, director and producer in Indian cinema. He began his journey with the Kannada film Campus Kranti, released in 2023, which he both wrote and directed.

Apart from this, he is currently associated with the upcoming action project Yuvan Robinhood, expected to release in 2026. The film is listed as a pan India venture, with Santosh credited as both writer and director, along with production responsibilities.

The makers of Dhurandhar 2 have not yet responded publicly to the allegations.
