Chapter 10

Aisha enters the interrogation room and sits opposite riya. Riya is calm, having numbed herself to what has happened around her. Aisha sees her eyes and notices that they reveal nothing. Its like she had emptied herself somewhere else. Aisha starts with her interrogation. Taking a picture out she asks riya "do you know this man?". Riya looks at the picture and said "no."

Ai: are you absolutely sure about that?

Ri: yes, I am sure. I don't know this man. Who is he?

Ai: that's strange because this man identified you as the dealer who sold him those drugs.

Ri: then this man is mistaken. I don't do or sell drugs.

Aisha leans back into the chair and asks "you are a model. Right?"

Ri: yes

Ai: so how much do you earn within a month? 4000, 5000 20000 or 50000?

Ri: that depends on what assignment we have.

Ai: so does that mean that you models will wear anything just for money.

Aisha's sees riya's eyes become hard as steel. Her demeanour from that of calm to one of suppressed anger. Riya said "even models have values."

Ai: right, so does your value allow you to carry drugs from one place to another. After all, security people must be looking at you and not at your bags.

Ri: I think that you don't have to demean my profession to get me to confess to a crime I did'nt commit. As to what my values are then I don't think that you are in a position to judge them.

Ai: I think you forgot that who has been arrested?

Ri: I think that you forget. Law says innocent till proven guilty. Your job is to prove me guilty. My job is to ensure my innocence. Now I want a lawyer.

Before aisha could say anything, someone knocked the door and opening it aisha saw that it was shree. He gestured aisha to come outside. In the other room, arjun continued to watch riya. As soon as aisha entered the room, karan who was pacing stopped and said "she is innocent." Aisha said "evidence says that she is guility. So she is guility."

Kar: what just because drugs were found in her apartment where maya stayed that does'nt mean that she is guility. Even maya could have had those drugs.

Ai: fine. What you are saying is possible but what about the guy who identified her as the dealer of those drugs? How can he say that she is the one?

Arj: not everything is as it seems aisha.

Aisha turned to look at arjun as arjun turns back. Arjun could'nt help but remember the aisha 8 months previous. Right now, the lady who is standing in front of him as a built a strong wall behind her. his thought process broke when shree said quietly "arjun sir, her account has also an regular incoming transaction of 20000 every month. In fact she had withdrawn about 40000 from another account just last week. If she is not guility then where does she get so much money?". arjun folds his arms his gaze on the screen which showed riya. Riya had her head between her hands. he remembers what he said to anjali "I will prove what is the truth." Chotu enters the room talking on the phone and said "liza just called. The drugs are a match."

Ai: what about the background check?

Ch: riya kashyap did not exist before 8 years. her background goes only for 8 years no more than that.

Ai: arjun sir, please, you know this girl I know. but sir all the evidence suggests that she is guility. Do you believe us now?

Arjun looks at aisha and back at riya. He said "what she said is right. your job is to prove the guility. Our job is to prove the innocence. And I believe that she is innocent. She is not guility." Aisha's eyes lit up with steely resolve while shree and chotu's postures stiffened. She then asks "so does that mean that you are going against us?"

Arjun walks till he is front of aisha and said "no, I am just going to stand for the innocent. I hope that in the end we both are right. all the best aisha, shree and chotu. Let's go karan." And arjun walks out of the room with karan following behind. Aisha stares at the screen which shows riya her eyes threatening to be filled up with tears.
