Arjun and Sherlock Holmes

Greetings! šŸ¤—
I have been a silent reader on this forum, but yesterday's episode prompted me to make this post.
I know there is a huge difference between Sherlock Holmes and Arjun, but I can't help drawing some similarities. I pretty sure that even if you guys are not huge fans of holmes, you still might have enough idea about it.
Arjun is intellectually gifted like Holmes. He , like Holmes, is the only one who can see through everyone and everything, and draw conclusons which astounds people. If you read Holmes you will know. (warning: This post is really longšŸ˜› )

Secondly, Holmes effortlessly catches criminals because they are nowhere near his intellectual plane from which he works. Here and there, there are a few challenges, but his sole noteworthy opponent is Moriarty, who, if you remember, was like a shadow and had such a labryinth of higher connections around him that no one could even scratch the surface of his real power. To the world he was a very respected scientist. Only Holmes knew how he operated and managed to defeat him finally.
Similar is the case of Sikander. He is a shadow that no one can catch hold of. Just a name in the criminal world. Moriarty lived under the facade of a scholar ; Sikander is faceless. I hope you get the idea.

Thirdly, only if you have seen BBC's Sherlock, you will know that in last episode of season 1, there was finally a confrontation between sherlock and moriarty. The shot where the laser pointer of the gun was aimed at arjun's forehead, I was reminded of this scene. Yeah there is no watson in arjun, but I found this similarity. Check this link of that scene from sherlock:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOGXSFK3Xsw
(spoiler alert if you haven't watched the series)
Actually there is a more apt shot in that scene itself but i couldn't find the video

And yes, that episode of sherlock also ends like that, with Sherlock unable to catch Moriarty. he walks away after a call and decides not to kill Sherlock on that day.

And also the part where Arjun is informed of that someone will kill him and he reaches just in time to diffuse the bomb, similar thing happens in the Great game episode I mentioned. There, since both SH and moriarty love "puzzles", he ties bombs to people and sets a timer for the blast . Sherlock is supposed to figure out the puzzles to save those people. Watch it and you will know.

Phew!! Sorry for such a long post 🄱, but I couldn't help myself. šŸ˜›

Well, I too hardly come in Arjun forum. But this caught my attention, so here I am, replying.

So, I watched the first episode of BBC's Sherlock today... and man, I was STUMPED!

This man... he is brilliant, a genius. And yes, maybe a psychopath.

Now, while I completely agree about your analysis regarding the two character's similarities.

Still, I feel there are differences in their character. Glaring ones.

(To be noted that the Sherlock I am referring to is BBC's 'cause I don't really think the original Sherlock's character was as portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch. Of course, I could be wrong, considering it was a long long time since I last read Sir Doyle's sensational creation.)

So, difference number 1.

Sherlock gets high on murder.
Arjun does not.

In fact it also reminds me of my favorite show Castle. How Rick used to get all excited and how Beckett used to chastise him for such insensitive behavior. Obviously, Rick is our Sherlock and Beckett is Arjun.

Difference 2.

I don't think justice matters to Sherlock.
It does matter to Arjun.

Difference 3.
It's a sodding game for Sherlock.
Not for Arjun, NEVER for Arjun.

Difference 4.
Sherlock's need to articulate his theories.
Arjun is a one man army.

Difference 5.
Narcissist.
Arrogant, not to that an extent though.

Difference 6.
Detective.
Cop.

Difference 7.
I find him oddly endearing. He has that arrogant air about him, still it makes me swoon. And he is FUNNY.
Arjun... you know.

And last.
Let's face it. While I loveee Arjun Suryakant Raute... Sherlock will still be the best crime solver to me. Always. His Science of deduction... No. He is one of a kind. And maybe that's why he is a sociopath with high functioning.

After all geniuses ARE psychopaths. Don't ya think??

But after SH, I guess my favorite det. would be Arjun.

PS I only shared my views. I hope I didn't exacerbate you. Or cause you or anyone else unnecessary hurt.

Btw another similarity would be BOTH are freakin' hot!!! [:P]

Wow! What an enlightening discussion this has beenšŸ‘šŸ¼. Wonderfully worded. Hope to see you on ARJUN forum more often...it needs some worthy discussion beyond just romance and thrill.
Arjun as a character is indeed well written, such comparisons testify this. Though the only time I get reminded of Sherlock while watching Arjun is when he sometimes pulls Chotu's legs,or gives tips on how they should focus on the finer aspects of the investigation or gives an impatient explanation of his deductions. It gives a very "Elementary, my dear Watson" feel. Which reminds me he has a Watson missing😊

Hi
I have watched the SH you mentioned. In fact it was released long back in some other channel n I have a copy of all 6 episodes. The last part was a cliffhanger n I am waiting to see the nxt one.
Good comparison of SH and Arjun. As I have not read the novel yet and trying to read it evr since I saw those episodes, so I can say only based upon it.
The deduction part looks similar as Arjun too have a great observation.
Yes the attitude is way too different.
Sikandar's faceless appearence did remind me of Moriarity. All puzzle and about to be dead ends, its interesting.
With absence of chief n techie, Arjun is almost like BBC SH , as its getting one man show.

Why, I am pleasantly surprised. Those were truly generous words. Thank you! 😊

And despite the fact that I am more than bequeathing to be active in Arjun forum, I can't really afford it. Time constraint and a a bitch called LIFE, you see, bother me needlessly.

And yes, I completely agree with what you put forth. Arjun is indeed a complex and cryptic character, just like Holmes.

Ah, I totally forgot when he exasperatedly explains his theory to Chotu. Good observation.
