Hyderabad Police launch manhunt for Rakul Preet Singh’s brother Aman in fresh drugs case

Hyderabad Police have launched a manhunt for Aman Preet Singh, brother of actress Rakul Preet Singh, after naming him a “regular consumer” in a fresh drugs case. Officials said Aman is currently absconding, and special teams have been formed to trace and arrest him.

The case follows a seizure of cocaine and MDMA during an operation on December 19 near Chacha Nehru Park under Masab Tank limits. The Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) Force, in coordination with West Zone police, intercepted a grey car based on intelligence about a planned drug delivery. Inside the vehicle, officers recovered 43.7 grams of cocaine and 11.5 grams of MDMA concealed in the dashboard. The Clues Team verified the seized substances on the spot.

Two businessmen — Nitin Singhania, a real estate broker from Malakpet, and Shranik Singhvi from Troop Bazaar — were arrested for alleged possession, transportation and sale of narcotics. During interrogation, they reportedly revealed sourcing the drugs from a Nigerian supplier, whose contact was saved under a pseudonym. Police said deliveries were made in Hyderabad through African couriers and sold to a limited group of consumers.

On December 24, two African nationals were arrested in connection with the case. Interrogation led to the identification of four alleged consumers, including Aman Preet Singh. A senior police official said, “During their interrogation so far, the names of four people, including that of Aman Preet Singh, surfaced, and they are currently absconding.”

Aman had previously been named as a drug consumer in July 2024, when he was among five individuals apprehended in Hyderabad following interrogation of arrested drug dealers. Police added that Aman is suspected to have purchased drugs five times from the two peddlers. They noted that after apprehending him, authorities will decide whether to send him for rehabilitation or counselling.

Aman Preet Singh was also linked to previous cases registered by Cyberabad Police, including one at Narsingi Police Station. DCP West Zone Ch. Srinivas confirmed the developments, saying, “Based on disclosures during interrogation, Aman Preet Singh was identified as one of the consumers in this case. He is currently absconding, and multiple teams have been formed to trace and apprehend him. Further investigation is underway to identify the main supplier and other intermediaries involved in the drug network.”

The FIR names several alleged consumers and suppliers. The case is registered under Sections 8(c), 22(b)(c), 27(a), 27(A) and 29 of the NDPS Act, read with relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
