"Unhein hosh aa gaya hai."

These few words of the doctor instilled new life and energy inside Sameer Rathore. Yes, he was ACP Sameer Damsingh Rathore, the chief of ETF and one of the most feared men among terrorists. But when he saw his beloved Ayesha getting shot in front of his eyes, that too coming in way of a bullet which was headed towards him, he was shattered, smashed to the core. Being a highly trained police officer he could not save one of the very few persons he actually loved and cared for- the thought was demolishing him bit by bit, starting from his heart. The whole way from the isolated hill, where the Omar Lala encounter had taken place, to the Lifeline hospital, he was still like a statue, sitting with the blood bathed body of Ayesha in his lap. The fear of losing her was much more than he could bear. The guilt of being unable to save her from the bloody bullet had shaken his conscience. After one major operation and two weeks of medications also, when Ayesha had not come back to sense, he was really frightened.

"Rathore"- Arjun's concernful voice rang through his ears and he was brought back to the present. Although Sameer had distanced himself from his most beloved friend in the time when he needed him the most, here was Arjun, no, it was Junky for him, comforting him in need. This thought created more guilt in him. But this was not the time for that. He had to attend to that stupid girl who had tried to save him by getting herself in the way. He needed to make her understand that without her, there was absolutely no value to his life.

He entered the room alone, for Arjun had been called to complete the formalities, and the rest of the team was back in Mumbai, 600 kms away from Goa, where the three currently were. Ayesha was lying on the bed surrounded by beeping machines and a heap of syrups and medicines. There seemed to be a little life left in her, but the crinkled smile on her face would not be worth anything less than a million. Sameer came and sat on the tool near her bed. He just kept looking at her, all the while saying nothing.

"Sir, aise kyun dekh rahe hain?"- Ayesha asked fearfully, as she was afraid that he would be angry with her for landing them in trouble of being stuck in a hospital for God knows how long.

"Bas ye dekh raha tha Ayesha, ki kitni stupidity mein aane se log aisi harkatein karte hain"- Of course, he was angry with her. How dare she risk her life for him, when hers was much more valuable?

"I am sorry sir. Meri wajah se aapko itne dinon tak yahaan rukna padaa."-a stream of tears made way from her eyes. She never wanted to land anyone in trouble.

He was baffled seeing her tears. He didn't mean to make her sad in anyway, after all because of him she was in this condition. He gently wiped away her tears. "Arre pagal, mera matlab thaa ki tum kisi aur ke liye apni jaan khatre mein kaise daal sakti ho. And on a serious note, khabardaar tumne aisa karne ki dobara koshish bhi ki to Ayesha Kapoor. Your life is much more precious than my life idiot."

Those words from his mouth felt heaven to her. Yes, she already knew the mutual love they shared, and that exactly was what had made her do that which had landed her in the hospital. Although they had never declared their love for each other, waiting for the perfect occasion, they cared for each other as much as Heer did for Ranjha and Romeo did for Juliet. And now Ayesha being Ayesha, called for the declaration- " And may I know why so, sir?" she asked him with a naughty smile on her face.

Sameer understood what Ayesha was calling for. Even according to him, this was the perfect time.

" That is so because Ayesha, as you have known for a long time, I love You, and I daresay I cannot live with you. Today I know the pain of being on the verge of losing a loved one. If something happens to me.." he could not complete his sentence as Ayesha had already kept her hand on his mouth." No sir, nothing like that can ever happen."

" Ayesha, in full probability anything like that can happen easily, my love. And in that case, as I was saying earlier, I don't want to die with the guilt that I was never fortunate enough to tell a lady as beautiful and gold hearted as you, that I loved her and wanted to marry her. So, miss Ayesha Kapoor, would you like to spend your entire life with an idiot and unworthy person like me?"

"Yes." The answer was short yet completely satisfied both of them. They were not the lovey-dovey sorts of people. Yet they cared for each other in a unique and beautiful way. And the promise to spend a life time with a person as distinctive as the other was exactly what you will want, wont you?
