Chapter 3 🤗

Veer was slowly making his way to the room where his wife lays. The woman that always stood up for him. The woman who took a stone to her head for him, fighting against her best friend for him. The woman, who less than a week ago, took his share of a slap from Ranisa…all because she didn’t want to see him hurt.

(start of flashback)

Ranisa: Veer!! I told you so many times that there is a class difference between us and them. You cannot give free treatment to the poors just because you feel sorry for them!

Veer: Ranisa, the patient needed an emergency operation, I couldn’t turn him away, it goes against my Oath. Ranisa, you taught me this…

Ranisa: Stop using me as an excuse for everything! I gave you a second chance. This is not the way I was hoping you’d use the chance. When I say something, I want it done. I cannot have a loss in business because of your charity work!

Veer: Ranisa, it’s not charity work, I just…

The entire Rajawat family were watching. No one dared to make a noise against Ranisa at that moment. It didn’t sit right with Rani. She couldn’t watch Veer get shouted at for such a pious job. He did the right thing. She started walking towards them.

Ranisa: How dare you?? Talking back to me??

Within a split second, Rani saw Ranisa raise her hand and she knew what was following. She ran.

*SLAP*

Veer didn’t feel the impact. He opens his eyes and sees his wife, Rani in front of him. Acting as a barrier between him and Ranisa. She just took another hit for him. First at the kabaddi match and now in the family match. The Rajawats were stunned. No one ever interrupted Ranisa when she talked, and Rani fully went in between the conversation.

Veer: Rani!! What are you doing?? Are you mad?

With that he quickly checks her. But Rani does not let him.

Rani: I did what I thought was needed to be done. You didn’t deserve the slap. I told you to look out for that man and you did. So that slap was for me.

Rani was in pain. She knew that this lie was going to save her Dr Saab, it did. She walked out of the hall, and went straight into her room, Veer followed straight after. Leaving Ranisa in shock and complete anger. No one dare dared to look at her in the eye and this girl came in between her and Veer. She is going to have to do something about her.

Veer was so engrossed in his thoughts that he just stood in front Rani’s room, starring at her through the mini window. Vikram came and broke him out of his thoughts.

Vikram: bro…bhabisa is still not awake. Did the doctor say when she will wake up?

Veer: No, he didn’t say a specific time. Depends on when her body is willing to get up, we cant force. We just have to communicate with her.

Vikram: bro…you okay? You didn’t even go in yet?

Veer: Yeah, I’m fine

Vikram knew that his brother wasn’t fine, the tears were enough for him to know that his brother was in pain. More than anyone in the room right now. Veer had finally found someone who fit in with him, someone who kept him on his toes, finally had the love that he always wanted. Someone to shout at him when he is in the wrong and praise him when he is right. Someone to wait for him to eat, someone to look after him when he is down.

Vikram took Veer in the room and they both started to create small conversations. It was mostly Vikram talking to Rani and Veer watching her.

Outside in the hall, Ranisa gets another call. From the same caller.

Ranisa: I said I will give you the money. Stop calling me. But before you get the money, you have to do one more job

Unknown: I said money first and then whatever you want

Ranisa: the money will be in your account in 12h. You have to destroy the evidence. No matter what happens.

Unknown: consider it done.

Ranisa didn’t want to take another shot at failure. She didn’t like the bitter taste of losing. She cannot lose against this village girl.

Digvijay: Rajeswari, I don’t know what you are doing. But be careful. I’m warning you again, don’t do anything that will make me act out.

Ranisa: Keep your empty threats to yourself.

Ranisa walks out of the hospital. Digvijay was sure that she was up to something, spending almost 30 years with her, he understood one thing. She is capable of anything to get what she wants. And she will get what she wants at any cost. With that thought he enters the room.

Digvijay: Veer, I think we should take Rani home and have her home treated. It would be better that way. We can all keep an eye on her, and you will be able to look after her at all times.

Veer: Yes papa, I was thinking that too, I will talk to the doctors and have that arranged.

Vikram: Bro, don’t worry I’ll talk to him, you stay here with dad.

Veer: thank you, papa sit na?

Digvijay: how is she? Veer I know I shouldn’t be like this. But I have a bad feeling. Please be careful.

Veer: (thinking) papa you have a bad feeling; I know the ugly truth. I can’t say that to anyone yet, I need to find solid evidence first

Digvijay: Veer, I don’t want Rani to stay here, alone. I may sound paranoid but…

Veer: Papa, don’t worry I know. I don’t want her to stay here alone too. I will take care of her. She will be okay.

Veer knew that no matter what happens now, Rani will remain his first priority. He will not let anyone touch her. He will stay with her until she is good again. He has to somehow find out the truth about the accident.
