Ideally the scene should be removed atleast from their 10pm broadcast in India or a disclaimer needs to be issued regarding the fact that it is shown only for dramatic purposes and mother’s milk should be the only thing which needs to be offered as first feed .

Mockery of social issues in name of drama can still be ignored to a certain extent , but this is downright dangerous and u acceptable .

what is gadthuthi? I haven't read all the comments properly but got the gist that the discussion is about what should baby be fed after birth?

Most obvious for every mammal on the planet, baby is fed mother's breastmilk. Humans have found some alternatives for situations when breastfeeding is not possible.

But there is no point of discussion that naturally, breastmilk is what every baby should be fed. be it a human baby or a cow's baby. dharm/sanskar/rivaaz sab gaye tel lene! Nature above all 😊

When the traditions were written science had not progressed or discovered that honey was bad for babies to ingest, because honey is actually good for older than 1yr, it's an antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant

BUT just not good for new born as it can cause serious disease called infant botulism.

Being unable to breathe is a common cause of death in botulism. Other complications, which may need rehabilitation, may include:

Difficulty speaking

Trouble swallowing

Long-lasting weakness

Shortness of breath

Science teachers us, facts, data help is make an informed decision. so we learn, understand, and change our ways for the better. Just knowing that a drop of honey can cause this, would you still give your baby in the name of tradition?

It was heights of stupidity that a lay person was allowed into the OT while C section was going on . And despite the entire OT team being present ANUPAMA had to give mental strength to the patient !! what nonsense .

I don't want to post anything about the show for fear that I may be rude or offend anyone.

Just wanted to say that I agree Vaibhs with you. Being a mother I was educated the importance of breastmilk as soon as I gave birth by my doctor and in circumstances when mother is not able to feed after birth due to trauma/post delivery issues, they said they will give the baby formula if baby is full term or donated breast milk that has been sterilized for preterm nicu babies. No other food was recommended by my doctor.

Galthuthi WAS an age old tradition (mix honey, ghee, rub gold and feed that mixture to new born BEFORE anything, even before colostrum)

that they showed in last 30second of the episode and now suddenly all those TRP sasus will started doing it😡

honey cannot be given to newborn

Why couldn't they show importance of those 3-4 drops of colstrum, or like someone mentioned lactation help by anupama, coz we all didn't learn and come right, we all needed help figuring that out.

Serials are one of the best ways to spread awareness about any topic. They have reach over millions of people including people in rural areas. It’s disappointing that this most popular serial is advocating the old custom- feeding honey to a newly born baby which can be dangerous for the baby. The first instruction that a Dr. gives – Don’t feed your baby anything except mother’s milk, not even water.

This show talks about changing trends which has no sense like use of masalas on haldi function etc., , pata nahi kya kya but the practices or thinking which really needs to be changed are proudly encouraged.

Its evident from the previous tracks that makers do not have any social or moral responsibility. but if they cant take responsibility, at least they should not touch this type of topic.

I don't understand is there nobody to keep check on serials.

DJ , obviously we have all given up finding logic in the show ...

But here they are actually promoting a medical malpractice which is unfortunately prevalent still in large parts of India even amongst the educated folks . I’m guessing outside India a strict check is kept in hospitals post delivery on what is given as first feed , but in India doctors , gynaecologists , new mothers have to literally fight with grandparents and relatives to not follow this practice of feeding honey or make the baby guzzle down formula instead of the miracle first food colostrum . I have witnessed it myself .

A PIL can actually be issued against the makers for this .
