Agree - 6 was not justified... just like 9 or 10 was also not justified from the other judges...

Hope to see more normalized ratings in the future 😊

So here is another question for all of you? If 6 is low, what is 4 or 2? And if 4 and 2 are unthinkable, then why have a ten point scale?

10 should represent perfection and be that rare. But when you grade, 5-6 represents 'just about acceptable' and as such I have no problem with Priyani getting that.

There are many grading scales traditionally available to indicate quality:

The 10-point scale.
4 or 5 point scales
Letter grades, with plus or minus.
Check-plus-minus.

Those who use the scale should understand it.

i dont think anyone has sung that bad to deserve a 4 or 2 - and hence it has not been awarded... it just shows that the contestants are quite good... and 6 is amongst the lowest awarded yet(i think they gave a 5 to someone too - not sure) - and i dont think priyani is the weakest singer of the lot... by these standards, ravi should have been getting a 4 if anything...

Pointed out the issues with the singers where ever they went wrong, like Priyani's or Sumitra's case... And has been happy when they sang well... Arshpreet and Mirande are great examples... The other judges just went overboard with Priyani's performance yesterday, may be just because the song was tough.. and then when asked to explain - even the one to award a 10 said ki usne ghalatiyan ki thi... C'mon, doesnt a 10 mean everything was perfect??

On the whole - am relieved that Arshpreet or Mirande did not have to suffer because of the unreasonable high marks given to Priyani by some judges.. Otherwise - it would have been very unfair to the other girls!

As Vanaja says - just hope that Priyani actually takes Alka's advice seriously and improve (coz she has a good voice and can sing really well if she tries), rather than getting carried away by all the fluff that the other judges came up with..

Absolutely ... agree with both of you 👏

if priyani gets extra marks for choosing a tough song then why not mirande for choosing shakalaka baby which is also tough

in any case am very happy with the final results ... i heard arshpreet for the first time and was very impressed ... she has a very different voice ...

talking of tough brings up another question ... how you u decide that a song's tough ? who decides it? the judges ... doesnt it depend on the contestants ?

for e.g. for a classical singer like aditi any classical number would be a cake walk but a romantic number is entirely another matter

pls let me have your thoughts on this ...

Great question - and you are true 'tough' is such a personal adjective... That is where, the comfirt of the genre comes up? Perhaps yes.. Will come back and write more on this...

I think you raise a very important question when you ask what makes a song tough.

There are some absolute factors, I suppose:

1. A song that transcends its scale at both ends, like Tu chanda main chandni.
2. A song with unconventional rhythms.
3. Jumping notes and unexpected transitions, like some of Hridaynath Mangeshkar's tunes.

But, Kiti_g, this deserves a new thread, so do start one.

There is nothing wrong with Alka ji. She gives points for the singing. Not that "it was a tough song but she did her best" - you should not get points for trying a tough song. Aadesh and Abhijeet gave her good points regardless since they fought for her and its their rep on the line now. They are playing favorites. I see nothing wrong with Alka ji's judging.

Also - one of the brothers (I forget is its Jatin or Lalit) gives 6 points and says "I knew other judges will give hign points so he/she will make to next round, but I did not like this performance". Then why can't Alkaji do that.

It's a male notion that women are jealous of other women's talent. Women are no different - if you can accuse Abhijeet of being jealous of male singers then you can accuse Alka ji of the same. Otherwise its just plain sexist. Think folks Alka has been singing in the industry for 27 years!!!! She would be insecure - WHY?

I heard in the news that Ismail Darbar accused Asha Bhonsle ji of being jealous of female singers. Ludicrous, just plain insane!

Our judeges need to stop disrespecting each other first only then can they respect music.

Agree....6 was low, just as 10 was a high....( in fact I was surprised to see Lalit and Jatin both awarding the same points to her - 9!)

Alka was a bit too harsh on her, especially considering she went on to award Sreeram an 8 who sang miserably.
