Telly Celebs on Pohela Boisakh!

Pohela Boisakh is celebrated as Bengali new year and is a very auspicious day for the Bengalis, so it is also considered to be the best day to get married. The day starts with Puja in the morning followed by a get-together with family and relatives and celebrating it with authentic food items.

Wearing new clothes is a must on this day and also starting all the new activities for the coming year. It is also believed to be the best day to buy new things on Pohela Boisakh as it is lucky if things are purchased on this day.

In Kolkata and West Bengal, Pohela Boisakh is celebrated with much enthusiasm. There are theater acts and cultural activities which gather a huge crowd to see the performances. We  got in touch with few of our popular Bengali television celebrities to know how they are celebrating their Pohela Boisakh as in Bengali New Year today.

Debina Bonnerjee Choudhary: I am shooting this New Year so won't be able to do anything. But I did Laxmi puja yesterday, which I do every year. After shifting to Mumbai I have not celebrated this day as much, but when in Kolkata it used to be celebrated in a huge way. I am remember my childhood days when we used to wear new clothes and feast on yummy food made by my mom. I am shooting for Chidya Ghar and Nach Baliye Shriman v/s Shrimati so no possibility of wearing new clothes as I have to be in my costume. On this very auspicious day, I wish all my fans and viewers a Shubho Nobo Borsho.


Sayantani Ghosh: I started my day by visiting the Kali Mandir and seeking blessings for the New Year and now I am off for an outdoor shoot wearing new clothes which is a must every New Year. When I was in Kolkata, it was fun and I miss those amazing days especially the Bengali food dishes that are made at my home.


Mouni Roy: Though I am working, I made it a point of wearing a new dress and giving a new start for the coming year. I am missing my home town Cooch Bihar a lot today which takes me back to my childhood days when we used to celebrate Pohela Boisakh with enjoyment. Meeting friends and family and feasting on authentic food is all that I miss after coming in Bombay. If I had an off from work today than I would have done something at home for this New Year, but since I am working I couldn't do much.


Pratyusha Banerjee: I am in my home town Jamshedpur, so I will be celebrating this New Year with my entire family and friends here. My nani is making some authentic food items and I am waiting to feast on them at lunch time. After a long gap of 3 years I am meeting my entire family on this auspicious day which makes me very happy.



Dimpy Ganguly Mahajan: I am rehearsing for Nach Baliye Shriman v/s Shrimati so not celebrating my New Year as it is a busy day ahead. I am missing Kolkata where we used to wait for this day and the celebrations that used to take place were just amazing. Friends, family and relatives used to gather and have a lot of fun especially during meal times when we had tasty food items.
