Shraddha Kapoor on walking away from a film because the part wasn't good - "Yes, I have said a few NOs"

Shraddha Kapoor is the most popular and loved actress in Indian cinema. The leading actress has come a long way in the entertainment industry, proving her talent and persistence in each of her films with an amalgam of powerful content-driven and commercial pictures. The actress draws in audiences with her extraordinary talent. In her illustrious career, the actress is noted for her lovable attitude and manner has laid out an identity for herself by portraying powerful female roles. 

Shraddha, who has always known to support cinema and encourage other stars' films and has also seen praise for their performances, recently spoke at CNN News18's Rising India-She Shakti summit in New Delhi, where she praised female-centric films and stated, "It's a great time for women to be in cinemas right now."

Shraddha doesn't hesitate to laud the films of other actresses, and being the most secure actress in the industry, Shraddha Praised Alia Bhatt's Gangubai Kathiawadi and Kangana Ranaut's Thalaivi. The actress added, "With films like Gangubai [Kathiawadi], Raazi, Neerja, and Manikarnika, some of them are blockbusters, some of them are not. There’s again Haseena Parkar, Thalaivii. So I feel that people are on the lookout for strong female characters and strong stories. Frankly, I feel that because we are in a good space right now, I would be open to any interesting stories."

She further added, “There is this ongoing conversation whether, a film is a representation of society or vice versa. And frankly I feel, it’s a conversation I don’t think we can ever land up with a conclusion. I do feel that even before the entire OTT wave came on, we had films like Neerja, we had film releases where women have become the central character. So a lot of time, when people say, with OTT people can experiment, I don’t entirely agree with that. I feel we have seen some massive theatrical releases. I feel that, it’s also about the market in some way. I also feel that has a role."

During the event, Shraddha was also questioned if she had ever walked away from a film part because it wasn't good enough, to which she replied, "Absolutely. And I feel it is my job to do so because I believe that the audience I have developed for myself would not want to see me in parts where there isn't a solid layer to that part. So, in some ways, I am also responsible to them. I've been uttering quite a few NOs."

On the work front, the actress will be next seen in much- awaited Stree 2.
